Comedian Nate Bargatze’s clean-cut and relatable humor is why The Atlantic called him “The Nicest Man in Stand-Up.” The Nashville, Tennessee native and host of the Nateland podcast found his voice in the mid-2000s with regular appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Bargatze was featured on Jimmy Fallon's Clean Cut Comedy Tour 2013, three years after he was named “New York's Funniest Stand-Up” at the New York Comedy Festival. Since then, Bargatze has been selling out arenas on solo tours and in support of comedy icons like Chris Rock. Bargatze’s signature deadpan delivery was showcased in his 2021 Netflix special, The Greatest Average American, which earned a Grammy Award nomination for the coinciding comedy album. His 2023 Amazon Prime special Nate Bargatze: Hello World became the most-streamed original comedy special debut in Prime history — with 2.9 million viewers in its first 28 days — culminating in Bargatze breaking the attendance record for Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Bargatze hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the second time in fall 2024 and also co-produced a holiday variety special titled “Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas” with Lorne Michaels. In May 2025, Bargatze published his highly-anticipated first book, Big Dumb Eyes: Stories From A Simpler Mind, which became an instant New York Times bestseller. Coming up for 2026, Bargatze will host his new comedy game show, The Greatest Average American, which premieres on February 25 on ABC and Hulu, and will star in the family-friendly comedy film, The Breadwinner, which is scheduled to be released on March 13.

Everything about the evening was fantastic. Of course, Nate was hilarious. The only negative was the fact that the Taft kept letting people in late. The show started at 7:00 and people were coming in after 7:30. It was awful and I felt bad for the opening act - it was obviously distracting for his act. If people are going to be that late - they should have to wait to come in between acts. But all-in-all it was a really, really great night!
Everything was handled well. From the vaccination check point, various bar areas to purchase drinks, friendly and helpful staff. This was my first time at the Taft and it felt it could use some remodeling, but still a great theater. The whole tour was excellent, we pretty didn’t stop laughing once we got to our seats and the show started.
The comedians did a great job but the Taft Theatre had us wait outside before the show started. The show started at 7 and the doors opened at 6:55. Then there was another show at 9 so the show ended at 8:30 and they herded us out like cattle thru 2 doors. No time for the restroom or anything. I did not appreciate that at all and the show was too short.
My husband and I were crying laughing at multiple points in the show, and my face was hurting from so much smiling and laughing. His humor is clean which I also appreciate. 10/10 recommend.
Though I had concerns about being in such a large crowd during a Covid surge, our vax protection/masks gave a measure of safety. I had secured tickets for my husband’s Christmas and he, not knowing of Nate Bargatze, attended with some doubt of a “fun date night.” I knew otherwise. Neither of us left disappointed; in fact, we both left with sore abs from laughing so hard for so long! Warm-ups from Julian McCullough (decent, but not ready to go it alone), and Mike Vecchione, (very funny, enjoyable), did exactly what they were there for - - - preparing our aging stomach muscles for a workout. Nate Bargatze’s “The Raincheck Tour” gave us our money’s worth and more. It felt as though we laughed from beginning to end. And, while aging may not allow us to remember specific stories, the joy, lightheartedness, intermittent grinning, and the occasional ab-twinge bring back wonderful memories. Not only that, my husband is now looking up Nate’s prior performances and tours on YouTube! Stellar! BTW, Cincinnati’s Taft Theater is always a winner in my book.
Nate is the funniest comedian out there. Maybe just to people our specific age? Or anyone who knows a 40 year old guy. Because we’re all the same.
Nate did a show at a local drive-in during the Covid lockdown and I was SO disappointed that we did not get tickets. My husband did not understand so I made him watch “The Tennessee Kid”. He enjoyed it so I got tickets for this show for my birthday. One of my best gifts ever. Fantastic show. All three comedians were hilarious. During Nate’s show we laughed so hard it physically hurt. This was his best material yet. If you have a family his material is appropriate for a variety of audiences.
All new hilarious material, we laughed the entire show. No foul language or anything political, just Nate telling his stories in his special way.
5 Stars for the show - Nate and his opening comedians were very funny. We went to the 9:30 show - his second show that night at Taft Theater. We arrived about 30 - 45 minutes early only to be met by a line to get in that was 2+ blocks long in freezing cold temperatures. We stood outside waiting for about 25 - 30 minutes. Concession lines were very long as well. Taft has some issues to work through.
Such a great show! I received the tickets from a friend at the last minute due to covid. I wasn't familiar with Nate Bargatze, but was in need of a night out! So glad we went! We laughed the entire night.
This is our third time seeing Nate and he never disappoints! It is a clean show, which is somewhat hard to find in the stand-up world.
We love Nate! The opening acts & Nate were amazing. We loved the venue. All around great experience.
Awesome performance. Love his sense of humor & the way he delivers. Can’t wait to see him again!
I heard of him on Netflix and he is hilarious. Soooo funny
Never had even heard of Nate Bargatze & thoroughly enjoyed the show! I was laughing so much that I was crying! I had no make-up left on by he end of the show! His father was hilarious too! I would highly recommend his show :)
We laughed out loud every minute of the show! It was great to see senior Bergatze perform. So excellent! Nate was the best I’ve ever seen him! His delivery is so spot on. Self deprecating humor, no offensive language, everyday topics made extraordinary! We could not have been more pleased! We will see Nate Bergatze any chance we get!!
The theater map fooled me into thinking we were getting better seats. Our seats were bad, but the show was still terrific. His first opener I didn't know, but he was really funny nonetheless. And I now know who he is (except his name). And his second opener was HIS DAD!!!! Now that guy's a BLAST!!! I believe Stephen Bargatze needs his own merch. Nate Bargatze was very good. But we knew he would be. We laughed A LOT. Score one for Vegas.
I love comedians who make everyday life funny — no divisive political nonsense guised as comedy. His appeal is universal. Loved the entire show. His father was very funny too. I highly recommend his show. Can’t wait to see him again!
Nic Novicki, Nate's dad, and Nate Bargatze were all great! Have loved Nate's specials and couldn't wait to see him in person. He did not disappoint. Venue was great also with lots of staff to assist and great drinks.
