About

Comedian Nate Bargatze’s clean-cut and relatable humor is why The Atlantic called him “The Nicest Man in Stand-Up.” The Nashville, Tennessee native and host of the Nateland podcast found his voice in the mid-2000s with regular appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Bargatze was featured on Jimmy Fallon's Clean Cut Comedy Tour 2013, three years after he was named “New York's Funniest Stand-Up” at the New York Comedy Festival. Since then, Bargatze has been selling out arenas on solo tours and in support of comedy icons like Chris Rock. Bargatze’s signature deadpan delivery was showcased in his 2021 Netflix special, The Greatest Average American, which earned a Grammy Award nomination for the coinciding comedy album. His 2023 Amazon Prime special Nate Bargatze: Hello World became the most-streamed original comedy special debut in Prime history — with 2.9 million viewers in its first 28 days — culminating in Bargatze breaking the attendance record for Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Bargatze hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the second time in fall 2024 and also co-produced a holiday variety special titled “Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas” with Lorne Michaels. In May 2025, Bargatze published his highly-anticipated first book, Big Dumb Eyes: Stories From A Simpler Mind, which became an instant New York Times bestseller. Coming up for 2026, Bargatze will host his new comedy game show, The Greatest Average American, which premieres on February 25 on ABC and Hulu, and will star in the family-friendly comedy film, The Breadwinner, which is scheduled to be released on March 13.

  • Sooo GOOD!

by Alexandriughhh on 1/18/22The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Nate Bargatze is really relatable. I am an oldest child who was raised by super Christian 90s parents. I am also a divorcee and could relate to some of the quibbles that he has with his wife. It was cool to get a male perspective on some of his experiences. It helps to understand that none of us are perfect and we really are all living the same life... for the most part. I would advise people not to go to comedy shows if they don't want to hear other people laugh. You can't police laughing. Stay home if you can't relate.

  • unbelievable! <3

We had a great time at the Chicago Theatre last weekend. There was easy access to the venue, so you didn't have to wait outside for a while. The Theatre itself is truly stunning and magical. Nate's show was incredible. My cheeks were hurting from all of the laughter. Really good food and drinks. I look forward to going in the near future to another show. Thanks for the great experience!

  • Great show

If you get a chance, go see Nate on this tour. This is a great show.

  • Great Comedy

by Eden on 1/18/22The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

He is so funny! I would put him in the same group as Seinfeld.

  • Hilarious

    by T. M. on 1/18/22The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This show was hysterical as always and we were able to bring our 10 year old daughter who loved his Netflix specials. As a lover of comedy, it was awesome to find someone hilarious who isn’t using vulgar language or content that I can share with my kid. Thanks to Nate for being one of the only comedians in the business bringing the comedy performances that are appropriate for the whole family to enjoy! We loved it and can’t wait to see him again live.

  • Well Run Theater

    by M. G. on 1/18/22The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I thought I had tickets to the 7pm show but I had 4pm tickets. The house manager got me comparable seats and was so nice about the mistake. We had a great time, Nate and his opening acts were funny.

  • Nate Bargatze is excellent comedians!

by Dee on 1/18/22The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Great Show! Nate Bargatze is a clean comedian that will have you laughing the entire show. However, The Chicago Theater struggled at the door. The show started 30 minutes late. They need a better system to check photo ID and vaccine cards then security entrance. I heard other venues have stuff members checking photo ID's and vaccine cards as you wait in line for security point by placing a wrist band on individuals that are "good" with vaccines.

  • Short but funny

    by M on 1/18/22The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Good show with two openers. Everyone was funny but it was a short show. 90 minutes, maybe slightly less total. Material was new so was an overall enjoyable show.

  • Chicago Theater fell short

by Nikkijo on 1/18/22The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

It took over 40 minutes to get into the venue which meant the show started before we even got in. Concession stations took over 30 minutes.

  • Nick Bargatze was hilarious!

by Helcat on 1/18/22The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

We had a fantastic time at The Chicago Theater seeing Nick Bargatze. The theater felt safe because of the thorough vaccination card checks and purse checks. The two warmup acts were excellent as well. Overall, we had a marvelous night out. Thanks, Nick! You did not disappoint!

  • Bargatze Fan In folding chair…

by Jon on 1/18/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 2 out of 5

With no disclaimer from disclaimer, we were not given normal seats. We were surprised to be directed to our row that was folding chairs instead of the normal theatre seat. My and my wife’s experience was still good primarily because we so enjoyed Nate Bargatze, but we felt scammed by false advertising.

  • Great Evening and Many Laughs

    by j. s. on 1/17/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Nate is one of those amazing talents that have worked their craft and seem to appear out of no where. Clearly, he has put in the time and has the talent. The set was new material and was seriously funny. He proves that you do not need to go blue to get huge laughs. His ability to observe his life and world and them turn this to incredible humor is amazing. He has a delivery style that makes you believe every word is true whether or not it is. This was one of the best sets I have seen in a long time and he is young. I look forward to many more Nate shows. The openers were actually pretty reliable as well and delivered a good warm up.

  • Amazing show

by Lauren on 1/17/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the show! Was the perfect length, laughed the whole time

  • Nate Bargatze - excellent but not worth medical apartheid

    by C. R. on 1/17/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Nate had my husband and I laughing from start to finish and we were so happy to have gone to the show. He demonstrates how funny someone can be without being offensive. I love the family friendly material that is relatable. However, I will never attend another event that requires medical records to be admitted. As funny as the show was, it wasn’t worth giving up my rights as an American to attend.

  • so funny, we all seemed ! to need a night like this

by kippyv on 1/17/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

The taft is a great place to see a show and seeing nate there was perfect!!! The line for drinks was very long ( on all floors) which was a bit of a bummer, but the show was funny and everyone seemed to be ready for a good night out!

  • Did not disappoint

    by Stand-up Fan on 1/17/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

My whole family follows Bargatze and he is always on point. The venue was great. My only recommendation is to have more bartenders. The 2 that were at each station were awesome but you could reduce the time in line by adding an additional person and POS tool.

  • Nate is the best!

by Andrea on 1/17/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show! Nate never fails to make me laugh the entire show. We sat in balcony 6 because that was all that was left when we ordered tickets. Couldn’t really see his face but still not bad seats. His opener Mike V. was great also!

  • Amazing night

by Bradley on 1/17/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

We ended up buying tickets the night before for the 9:30 show. The two acts that opened before were hilarious. We saw him two years ago when his dad opened, which we loved, but the comedians he had on before were hilarious. It was all new material and we laughed the whole time. A good, clean, great show.

  • As good, if not better than expected

by RobM on 1/17/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great show, the opening acts got progressively better & Nate was phenomenal. I hope he comes back to Cincinnati again before too long

  • Nate just gets it

by FancyNancy on 1/17/22Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Nate Bargatze is genuinely funny! He doesn’t say shocking, raunchy things to get the audience embarrassed or uncomfortable so they giggle or laugh as a reaction to their discomfort. Which in my opinion is what the vast majority of comedians do these days. Nate is so relatable. He could be your neighbor, your co worker, because he’s just like the average person, and that’s what America’s main ingredient is…regular average everyday folks. But its a disservice to call Nate average, he is an exceptional comedian.
