  • Worst event planning I've been too

by Anonymous on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

Had one line set up to try and funnel 100k people through in the rain. Lines backed up for several blocks. Waited for over 2 hours soaking wet and missed 2 of our favorite artist perform. Terrible planning.

  • wet

by ozzmannn on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

need more rock bands like styx or the crue. was a little wet but everybody had a good time.

  • Very solid festival!

by Samelchaz on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

So great! A little less talk, a lot more singin' would've been preferred from Cake's lead singer but other than that it was great! Definitely going back next year.

  • Journey

    by Lear24 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The show was amazing! This was the largest festival i have been to, but have seen Journey 28 times over the last 31 years.

  • Great Event Tweaks Needed

by Lourai on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

The selection of musicians was incredible. Glad the Blues (ZZ Ward) was represented. All acts, except Queens of the Stoneage, ran like clockwork. Them spilling over into the Red Hot Chili Peppers was inexcusable. Food and drinks were incredibly expensive. Not enough places to sit and eat. Insufficient number of porta potties given the size of the crowd (45 minute wait on Saturday). The no smoking law was not enforced at all. I saw no security among the crowd other than two police officers during Kendrick Lamar. It was a good event but there were way too many people there for the accommodations provided.

  • too many people, not enough bathrooms

by MoFoSho on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

Overall, I had a decent time. Friday was fun for the most part with Cake, Jane's Addiction, Phoenix, and Journey. Was pleasantly surprised with Journeys performance. Saturday was a cluster. I missed Weezer because we were stuck in line in the pouring rain for an hour. There were a shortage of bathrooms, so none of us really ate out drank for fear of missing bands standing in line for porta potties. on the bright side, Imagine Stand were insanely awesome. Yeah yeah yeahs took my breath away. Queens of the Stone Age were great until they played over Red Hot Chili Peppers. I'm not sure if that was done on purpose, but RHCP definitely needed to be way way louder. it ended up being a gorgeous night, but with all of the hang ups of the day, we left water logged, cold, hungry, and wanting a bathroom with no line. unless the lineup next year is as good/ even better than this year, I doubt I would go again.

  • Amazing!!

by pumpkinRupert on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

3 stages was ok...had to choose between some really great bands and didn't like that one bit. Other than QOTSA playing over RHCP it was amazing...their people should have been aware of the timing so that wouldn't happen so everyone had to sit there for around 12 min hearing both bands and that was no bueno!!

  • Worst Event I've ever attended

    by DisgruntledOne2013 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

This has to be the most poorly managed, poorly organized event ever. I attended last years Music Midtown, and it definitely had it's hiccups, all of which had been discussed and supposedly addressed before this year's Music Midtown. Not only did they not fix last year's problems but they added to them this year. Lines were horrible, at every gate in and out of the event, at every vendor within the event, atm and porta johns. We waited two hours in line in pouring rain to get into the event on the second day, supposedly due to faulty ticket scanners. Eventually the event organizer allowed entry by simply showing your tickets, and not actually scanning them. There is no telling how long it would have taken to get in if they had not done this. We missed several of the bands we had planned to see due to waiting in line for hours in the pouring rain. There is very little if any security to this event, several hundred people jumped and tore down fences in order to get in. Security did nothing. Once inside the event, again no direction from security, just swarms and swarms of people in every direction. You could barely move. Once inside the event, you're basically in an open field with no coverage or reprieve from the elements. Since it had poured rain and continued to pour rain, there was no where to sit at all. The field quickly turned to a mud pit. Most of the paved areas near the vendors and porta johns were flooded from the rain and not passable as well. Some seating would be nice, especially for the price of the tickets for the two day pass. I really would have expected better appreciation and treatment for my patronage. Now let's talk price gouging, $10 for a can of beer (luckily I don't drink at these events), $2 for a 12oz can of coke, $4 for a bottle of water, $6 for a single slice of pizza, merchandise shirts $25-40 (and those are the prices I paid for the 3 shirts I purchased, I'm sure some were higher). The crowd's to this event are incomprehensible. I'm really surprised the city code enforcers and fire marshals allow for such a huge event to be hosted in such a cramped, confined and unorganized space, and especially with the lack of adequate staff and security presence. This was my 2nd Music Midtown in a row and needless to say, my last. I really hope that the organizers of MM take heed that all of these problems are well known to the thousands of concert goers that attend these events. These events may be successful (monetarily) for you right now, but your reputation has a way of catching up to you.

  • 3 stages...ehhh

by MelkG on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

I don't really think I liked having 3 stages this year. Bands I was looking forward to overlapped and it took too much time to get from the extra 3rd stage to the original two. Because of that, they're was a bigger crowd which is great, except for the navigation part. I think it's great they are expanding, but I just didn't care for the third stage. Besides the rain, it was still an incredible, unforgettable, forever good time!

  • Good lineup: need another "Coldplay"

by zzbeachmom on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

This was our second year. Enjoyed almost every band. We weren't sure how we would like the third stage. It did make us choose between two bands we wanted to see at the same time, but overall probably a good move. The rain was unrelenting, but did not affect the music at all. Our group ranged in age from 17-56. There was plenty for all of us. We would love to see Mumford & Sons, Sufjan Stevens, Kassidy, Of Monsters and Men, Passenger, Graffiti 6, Keith Urban, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Owl City

  • Totally worth it!

by Anonymous on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

RHCP made my trip. Great music, good food and drinks, awesome people and a mud slide in the rain!!!

  • by Anonymous on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

Went Friday night only. Cake played maybe 5 songs and talked for 15 minutes between. Journey was pretty good.

  • Music Midtown was a blast!

    by beckroo31 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

By far one of the best festivals I have been to. All the performances were amazing! Being a child of the '90s, I knew all the bands and was happy to have them all in one place! The only thing that I wasn't super pumped about was how the festival was a tad unorganized. There were huge lines to get in that took an hour or more. I would suggest wrist bands like all the other major festival use and more people checking people in.

  • GREAT SHOW

    by samatha929292 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

show was great, was run smoothly all the bands were amazing!! the red hot chili peppers and artic monkeys both had a great show, the only thing that would make it better if it was a day longer!

  • Another great Music Midtown!

by IGCIIDGCT on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I went both days and had an amazing time! Highlights were Imagine Dragons, Capital Cities, and Red Hot Chili Peppers! Can't wait until next year!

  • by mhrtj25 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Words can not describe how awesome a line up like the one at Music Midtown 2013 was!

  • Not as good as last year!

by WorseThanLastYear on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

Line up was not as good as last year. VIP is not worth the money. VIP should have better access to stage front. One of my favorite bands, Red Hot Chili Peppers were good, but ended early.

I cried while waiting for over an hour in line just to use a nasty port o potty. I had to over a stranger $20 just to cut him in line. Thankfully he let me, otherwise my bladder may have exploded. The toilet to people ratio was severely miscalculated. I saw many people urinating in crowds on the grass like animals. I saw a man deficate in his pants while in line for the toilet. The event planners should be ashamed. There were plenty of food and drink stations to make more money but a fraction of the adequate amount of bathrooms. I think everyone who attended should be refunded a portion of their ticket costs. I would comment more about the actual artists/show but a majority of my time was spent waiting to pee. :3
