  • RedHotChiliPeppers blew my mind

by Wooknado on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Once the rain stopped the festival was very enjoyable ! Imagine Dragons put on a great show ! Made our way through the mud pit to see one of the only rappers, Kendrick Lamar. I am not necessarily a rap fan but Kendrick absolutely killed it ! Then It was Red Hot Chili Peppers time.... 100,000 people all waiting anxiously to jam with one of the best band of our generation, simply amazing! The set list was incredible and despite the large number of people I never felt over crowed or like i might be in danger. Must see event for 2014

  • Friday Fun; Saturday Mess

    by nolagirl622 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Friday was awesome! The bands were great, food selection was amazing and there were many more bathrooms spread out throughout the park which made wait times less. Saturday sucked. We waited on 10th street in the rain for an hour before giving up as we couldn't get in. We finally saw on Facebook that tickets couldn't be scanned due to the tickets being wet. While I realize you can't control the weater, be better prepared for a "rain or shine" event. It was amateur hour and will hopefully be handled before next year so I don't waste money on a 2 day pass and only use it for 1 day again.

  • Capital Cities is my new favorite band!

by AbbyAk on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome festival, despite the mud and rain, and crazy people who didn't like being around crowds, and should have stayed home to watch Journey on DVD. It was really well organized, and an awesome lineup. Capital Cities stole the whole weekend, though. They performed with so much heart, in the pouring rain, and looked like they were not only humbled to be there, but genuinely happy.

  • Muddy but great

by jamofpearls on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

We got to the show on Friday just in time to see Drivin & Cryin. Met up with friends for 2 Chaniz, and was blown away at how amazing Jane's Addiction was live. I really didn't care anything about seeing Journey, so we bailed halfway through. Saturday, we kind of knew it was going to rain, so we had brought ponchos, and had our tickets laminated. We got into the park no problem at about 1pm. Saw Reignwolf from the Dos Equis covered bar. Then went to go see Weezer and got absolutely soaked. The ponchos...they didn't fare so well. Left, and went back to the Jeep in the parking deck to eat our burritos and dry out. Changed clothes, and met up with our friends. They said they had a hell of a time getting in. We came and went as we pleased, and weren't VIP. Queens of the Stone Age was soooo very very good. After they finished, we made our way over to see Red Hot Chili Peppers. The sound was muffled from the back left side. We made our way to the middle which helped. But still would drop in and out. Not completely, but almost like the large amps would drop out or something. They were good, but didn't play all the way to eleven, like we thought they would. All in all, a muddy water logged good time.

  • Jane's Addiction killed it!!

by StephSorensen on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Looking back, I could have purchased a ticket for Friday and been insanely happy. It was my first time seeing Jane's Addiction live, and they were phenomenal! They were in great shape, the show was very high energy throughout, and they didn't disappoint in their song list either, including all of their hits, such as Mountain Song, Had a Dad, Stop!, Been Caught Stealing, and Jane Says. Saturday was good too; the Weezer show was very entertaining and fun. I didn't know who Imagine Dragons were until this weekend, and I enjoyed that show as well. They have great percussion in their songs. The continuous rain kind of put a damper on the whole day. It finally stopped before the Chili Peppers took the stage. After seeing Jane's Addiction and rocking through the rain at Weezer, the Chili Peppers show was only okay. They played a lot of newer stuff, and I am more of a fan of older Chili Peppers music. Overall, it was still a good show, but Jane's Addiction should have headlined on Friday night instead of Journey. Just a personal opinion - I didn't even stay for Journey; I am not a fan.

  • chili peppers were awsome

    by CL3MS0NT1G3R on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

There was almost a foot of mud in some places because of the rain and that probably could have been a little more thought out. but overall it was a great festival with awesome artists. Chilli Peppers preformed great as always and Weezer put on a good show too

  • Unorganized Mess

    by Bosco41 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

The facilities were not adequate to handle the crowd - line up was poor - I miss the old Music Midtown

  • RHCP for Life

    by Legit69 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Concerts were amazing, especially the Chili Peppers! The biggest issue was getting inside the park on day two. Missed Weezer's entire set because they couldn't get people in fast enough. Crappy weather on day two but nothing they can do about that. Overall though I think it was a successful concert series again this year!

  • Midtown music...blah

    by Court0924 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

Midtown music was not not favorite festival. I hate to say it was the worst I've ever been too, because it rained so much Saturday and that's not the festivals fraught. But, there were other things that could have been better, such as more bathrooms so that you didn't have to spend 45 minutes in line and miss half of a show. The bar lines weren't too bad in certain areas, but that's probably because no one wanted to buy drinks so they wouldn't have to go wait in the bathroom lines. Also the sound at chili peppers sounded off, like it wasn't loud enough or something. The stages needed to be bigger so you could see from further back. Overall the festival was just okay, it seemed like they allowed too many people in that park. I've been to much larger festivals before and never felt like I was being bearded like cattle as I did at music midtown. If I lived in Atlanta I might go back next year but I won't be making that 6 hour drive to attend next year.

  • Muddy with long bathroom lines. Great bands!

by Hedgepl on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

They knew it was going to rain on Saturday and should've had more portable walkways laid down. Giant mud pit everywhere. Also there's not enough toilets as always at music midtown. They need double the amount of bathrooms. Great bands though!

  • by Anonymous on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

the sound quality was terrible unless you were perfectly in front of the stage. I don't think the audio staff checked sound from anywhere but right in front of the stage. Bathrooms were plentiful and wait times were not bad near the second stage.

  • Never Again!!!!!

by tanromy on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

Worst concert experience ever!!!! Over crowded. Lots of pushing and shoving. Porta Potty lines were outrageous. Warm beers were $10. No signs or directions for the stages and no way to find out which band is playing which stage, Total disaster! We didn't even stay for the main concert because we were so miserable.

  • Overall a good experience

    by AFR2 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

The lineup was fantastic and all the artists played well. Generally well organized with the addition of the third stage. However, the 10th street entrance was woefully unorganized, especially in the downpour. I stood in line at least 45 minutes. High schoolers were climbing over police golf carts to cut in line- I think this calls for more organization and planning of entrances next year. The extra toilets also helped, but all ran out of toilet paper.

  • Rained but still worth going.

by dcginger on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

The bands were awesome. My only complaint is that there seemed to never be enough clean, stocked restrooms. The rain of course made it disgustingly muddy. Even though it rained, we still enjoyed the bands.

  • by Anonymous on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome selection of musical artists. Well scheduled so that I could see each artist.

  • Music Mudtown

by BigPlayR on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

There is nothing better that a continuous day of great music! Even if it was raining.

  • Gate admission failure

    by bhawkins38 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

Not really sure what was going on at the gate on Saturday but we couldnt get in to see Weezer. After paying $80.00 for a ticket and weathering out the rain we stood in line until 3:20pm and then realized we werent going to get in the gate in time for the last song. It was a huge disappointment for our group!! We all vowed that we would not attend this event in the future!!

  • You can't help it if it rains!

    by Cindylouvb17 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

It rained all morning on Saturday, and was really muddy, so be sure to pack rain gear just in case for next year! You can't help that though, so that has nothing to do with my review. I was a little upset that a few bands were on stage at the same time (ie cake and Jane's addiction) because I wanted to see cake and my friends wanted to see janes addiction and it was a tough compromise to go between the two stages... Also, for chili peppers, the sound booth in the middle of the crowd blocked a lot of the stage, making it difficult to see from the middle back...other than that, the bands were great!! I lived the roxy stage with the lights of midtown in the back!

  • mediocre at best

    by 3steph3 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

I have been to Music Midtown for the past 3 years and countless years before and this was the worst yet. WIth more music and more people the concert was not well handled. Bathroom lines exceeded 30 minutes as well as lines for food and drinks. Music was ok, not the most stellar lineup. Took over an hour to get through the line to get into the venue on Saturday, they were not prepared for crowds.

  • Take me back to Midtown

by AlexJeffrey on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Other than the lines being long to get in and the employees knowing absolutely nothing about the park, the music, vibe, the setup, and the fun was all I could ask for. I'll go back for a good enough line-up and as long as they can get their act together we should have a fantastic consistent Music Midtown. Take me back!
