It was a really good time with awesome bands. I wish they'd add a little more variety and look forward to that as they continue to expand the event. Also, it'd be better if they'd just allow people to bring their own food in. The lines were long and they ran out of a lot of the choices offered before 7pm on Saturday.

Not worth the lines.
by RareCandyy on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5Poorly organized. You could get there an hour before the band you want to see but the LINES WERE SOOO LONG. Terrible entry set-up causes disorganized lines that combine and allow for so many people to cut. Took an hour and a half to get into the damn venue.
Can't Wait to Go Next Year!
by Chinonye on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Even with the rain, I had a wonderful time. Although I didn't see all the bands I wanted to see on Saturday, the bands I did see were phenomenal. Capital Cities was by far my favorite. Overall, it was a great experience. Can't wait til next year!
Great Bands, Poor Event
by RichK941 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5The bands were outstanding but the event as a whole was lackluster. - The schedule was so tight that you had no time to get from band to band so you had to choose between great bands. - It was so overcrowded that even if you left early to see the next band ( and miss the other bands kick ass last songs) it took forever to get to the next stage. - God forbid you had to use the restroom. That was an hour ordeal and a lot of the bands only played for an hour. The lack of restrooms had people going behind them and even right out in the open fields, with waits like that you can't blame them. - The VIP area had a good view of one stage out of three. It would have been much better if it was in between the two main stages. Atleast then you could get a great view of two of the three stages which would have been acceptable. There was a super VIP area by the second stage but even it was very hard to access and way over crowded. With this being said, the free drinks and food was nice. The bathroom lines were only about a twenty minute wait instead of an hour. And the view of the main stage wasn't too bad. Still up in the air whether it was worth it. Don't get me wrong I still had a good time hanging with good friends and because of the bands I did see. I just feel like the event promoter took everyone's hard earned money, crammed them in and gave them a "good enough" environment. If you are going to have great bands, have a great environment. If this event comes next year, I definitely will not make the drive from Florida unless I know these things have been addressed.

great bands, great sound, good layout of the stages
Yeah yeah yeah for The Yeah Yeah Yeahs!
by cfamosi8 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5The line-up this year was so ridiculously amazing that my sister flew in from Boston! The only thing that could have made it better would have been less rain and more porter potties! My birthday is the 23rd so thanks Atlanta for the amazing birthday every year. I can't wait to see what bands come next year!
Lineup was good- planning so/so
by 90srocker on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5Bottom line for this show- it rained the entire time. The bands were great. The lineup was really good. There were not enough tents for getting out of the rain. There was no where to rest. -Not enough preparation for rain overall It was really crowded and uncomfortable. I'm probably just too old to go to festival shows anymore! I would not do this again. If my favorite band comes to town again I'd prefer to not see them at a large festival show.
Logistical Nightmare
by Anonymous on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5I have heard nothing but awesome things about Music Midtown for the last 5 years that I have lived in the Atlanta area. This year I could finally justify spending the money because three of my favorite bands were attending. I only got to see two out of those three because I spent two hours waiting in line to get in. There was no organization to the line. Instead, people formed about 5 separate lines which merged into mass chaos just in front of the entrance. People were angry, yelling, and shoving. Staff members who were supposed to be maintaining order stood behind one of the entrance signs. (I usually volunteer for events like this... Music Midtown said they would not accept volunteers... these situations are exactly why you need to tap the volunteer resources of this city!) When I finally got to the front of the line I walked straight past the bag checker who was trying her best to take up the least amount of space that she possibly could while the agitated crowd streamed past her. Safe... The ticket checker didn't even look at my ticket. He just waved us by. Why did I pay for this again? Once inside, I tried to shake my frustration with the first part of the day. I thought the set up was pretty awesome! We came dressed in raincoats and rain boots so the weather/mud was not an issue. We watched a little of the Arctic Monkeys and The Black Lips who we had never heard of before and bought a couple $13 beers... ouch. Our first bathroom trip was longer than it should have been but still okay. THEN IT THE ARCTIC MONKEYS ENDED AND ALLLLLL HELL BROKE LOSE. I want to say the mood of the crowd was a direct consequence of the ridiculous line situation combined with the mud and the ever growing bathroom lines. My second bathroom trip was filled with line cutters and people trying to switch from line to line accusing others of being line cutters. It was the most antagonistic festival moment of my life. People had literally had enough. Many left the area altogether, opting to risk peeing in bushes or against trees or just right smack dab in the middle of the concert area. If I was a dude, I totally would have joined them just to spare myself the headache of the bathroom situation. Finally, the concert aspect was great. We were in the middle of the crowd and had a great view (most of the time) and the bands were AMAZING. Music Midtown had set up an aisle down the middle of the crowd and filled it with staffers. I'm still left wondering what their purpose was other than catching the fainting concert goers who were crowd surfed over to them. It wasn't until the RHCP came on that this became a constant thing. The fact that this event was oversold (and inundated with people who hadn't actually paid... thanks, ticket guy...) was made immediately apparent as the whole festival came to the main stage and started trying to push their way to the front. Unfortunately, there was nowhere for them to go. Instead, everyone in front of them was pressed together and many people had to be lifted out. I understand that these kinds of things are all risks you take when you attend a huge concert. It can rain, it can get messy, people can be mean, drunk, rude, gross, inconsiderate, etc. etc. But thats why these festivals are meticulously planned beforehand. I didn't see any sign that they had taken any major foreseeable problem and try to prevent it. Instead, they threw some tents up and sold overpriced beer and were like "YAY! We made a festival!" After all these years, all the complaints, all of the issues that have come up.... I just think they should have this down to a science. Instead... I'm left with bitter memories and the resolution that I won't be coming back. :( Listen to your audience, Music Midtown. They're not happy. A quick glance at your facebook page says volumes.
Great Acts at a Disorganized Mess of a Festival
by Anonymous on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5MM pulls some good acts. I loved QOTSA! But overall, this was a poor festival experience. Organization was nonexistent. Entrance lines had no system (with massive line cutting occurring). The wait to get in was over an hour and a half. They had about 1/3 of the bathrooms needed and the wait for a porta-potti held steady at over 1/2 hour only to get in and experience overflowing toilets due to the numbers. Food vendors were about half of what was needed and waits were insane there as well. Positives- Plenty of beer vendors, though with the lack of restrooms, I wasn't encouraged to drink. We won't be returning to this festival next year. It isn't worth the money or hassle when there are better festivals in neighboring states and tons of great acts constantly coming to Atlanta.

The line to get into Music Midtown was incredibly long and unorganized. The event seemed unprepared for the number of people that bought tickets. We waited almost an hour to get in and missed seeing Weezer, one of the bands I was very interested in.

I loved everything! Great lineup, lines moved quickly, very nice staff!!! My only complaint is that I had to choose between Jane's Addiction and Cake, but these things happen at festivals...sigh* I also think Journey was a bad choice, but I hate Journey so I'm biased I guess
Chilly Peppers were awesome!
by Swamp34 on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5The Friday night lineup was good, but Saturday killed it. How they set up the lines for entry in a rain emergence could use a lot of work. Had to wait a while and missed a band I wanted to see. I can't wait for next year!!!
Needs improvement
by natajack on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5There were not enough bathrooms. They were totally disgusting and the lines were way too long. All the performances were amazing - but the sound system for Red Hot Chili Peppers was not loud enough. It was hard to hear the music in the back.

Fun event with plenty of vendors, just wish there were more restrooms.
- by Anonymous on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5
There was no coordination at all between the people that worked there and those attending. Some people waited in line for hours while some just walked right in. Everything was sloppy. Tickets were going for $20 day of. Not attending again.
A sloppy wet good time!
by ScottyBro on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5RHCP crushed it!!!!! Rain didnt stop anybody from having fun!
Huge lines
by Anonymous on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5Friday night's lines were fine. On Saturday, due to rain and poor management, the lines grew exceedingly long. We got there around 2:30, and the lines were wrapped down 10th street. We checked every entrance, and couldn't find any line that looked shorter than 3 hours. Won't be going back, they already took my money for the tickets and didn't give me a reasonable way to use them. Very disappointed. Also, for anyone who is sensitive to smoke (weed or cigarettes), don't come. It says no smoking but it's not enforced at all.
Our Very Own Woodstock
by Staceho on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Friday was awesome! The weather was beautiful and the bands were great! Saturday was a blast even with all the rain! The bands didn't seem to let it bother them and I know the crowd didn't. This is my second year going and will definitely continue to go in the future!

Music Midtown is always fun, but the lineup times were terrible this year. Had they released the times of the bands before the tickets went on sale, I most likely would not have gone. Out of the entire festival, I only got to see a four bands because of the overlapping times. I also heard other bands playing over the band I was trying to watch so that was rather annoying. The lineups should be arranged better next year so more bands can be seen by one and the sound needs a little work.
All ages ruins the whole festival!
by LTizz on 9/25/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5There are too many pre-pubescent punks running around acting like idiots not even listening or paying attention to the music. It wasn't fun at all.
