  • Atlanta Midtown Music fest.

by WildBilltheelder on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Really enjoyed the music and the quality of the sound systems. Only one recommendation for future improvement - need about twice as many port -o pots for that many folks drinking that much beer. Only one negative - what was the need for the fairly vulgar rap song played just before Coldplay came on?

  • MM Melee

by ParadoxAtl on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Contrary to the title there wasn't a melee until the end, I'll get to that soon enough. First of all, wonderful concert. Couldn't have picked a better weekend to have it. Awesome line up....I came to see only The Black Keys left with very impressed with several other bands. The sound system was perfect...as we walked in we heard the bands performing which gave us a preview of what was in store. The venue was nice and soft...the grass that is...loved having my shoes off and toes in the supple blades of meadow. And of course the performances were ridiculous! Finally the Melee...can't help the idiots that attended the festival but how we exited could have been different. We were herded like cattle through a small bottleneck around a fenced tree very slowly toward one exit. I supposed this pissed off the folks behind us because the tore down the opposite gate and it look like the doors opening on Black Friday at Wal-Mart. Long story short (To Late) Great show....Horrible Exit!

  • Excellent festival

by Shrubber on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Overall an awesome music festival experience. We had VIP tickets and they were well worth the money. Food and drinks were great, view was as good as can be expected from a separate VIP section. Wish there was a better view of the second stage. The lineup of bands was phenomenal. Perfect mix of new alternative, both electronic and guitar-driven, light and hard rock. Manchester Orchestra played an amazing set, but the Black Keys really stole the show, in my opinion. Coldplay did great, as expected, in the headline spot, playing most of their big hits from past albums and 3-4 songs off their upcoming release. Would have liked to see them play a little longer set (they were scheduled 9:15-11, but only played till about 10:20) but at least they played most of the crowd favorites. Overall, it was an awesome event, and I hope this is a good omen for the music festival for years to come.

  • BEST SHOW EVER

    by krAzyk0ldpLayfAn on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

THIS WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN. MY MIND WAS BLOWN. EVERY BAND WAS AMAZING

  • by Anonymous on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

There were too many people there. Need to control the number of tickets sold to ensure an enjoyable show for those who do attend. Coldplay sounded great, but I could have stood outside the gates for free and would have been able to see just as much as I could have inside the gates. The crowd was pushy and rude which made for an unenjoyable experience. Again, the bands sounded excellent. It was the crowd that ruined the event. We will not be back if they do it again next year.

  • AMAZING EVENT!

    by Kelly4444 on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This event was absolutely amazing! Coldplay never under-amazes me! Atlanta is very inviting and clean. I would recommend this event to anyone who likes music!

  • coldplay and black keys were my highlights

by mandrn on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Great venue, food, drinks, music and stage set ups. I would have liked some smaller stage options with more local acts in addition to the two main stages. The restroom scene was not good. I liked being able to sit where you could see and hear both stages on a blanket away from the main crowd as kind of a home base. Weather was perfect!

  • The Black Keys were amazing.

The Black Keys were just as good live, if not better than they are on their albums. We had an amazing time!!

  • COLDPLAYYY

  • Good Stuff

by daebat on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

The festival itself was really fun, great selection of food and drink (specifically beers :). The music was ok but they need to bring in some bigger names. The Black Keys were awesome as usual, Cage The Elephant put on a surprisingly good show, and I thought Coldplay would suck but they really stepped it up and put on a great show. CONS: The ground was sopping wet (not sure what was going on there), the bands weren't exactly incredible for the price / how crowded it got, there was only two places to go to the bathroom and it caused a lot of lines, people cutting, and probably people urinating along the borders of the complex. I spent half the concert in lines so that kind of sucked.

  • Can't wait for next year!!!

  • Well it would have been good

    by Kaufman445 on 9/26/11Piedmont Park - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

Another piss poor festival by music midtown. The Black Keys would have been good if I could hear them. Cage the Elephant was doing a very long and very loud sound check on the other stage which ruined the set, no matter how close we got to the Black Keys stage. Here's an idea, there are only 2 stages, make it so that you can't hear the other one! It would have also been nice if you posted on the website prior to the festival that most of the vendors would take cash only and the line for the ATM would be outrageous.

not nearly enough porta potties, really dumb reason to make fans uncomfortable. early bands really weak

  • Great Time at Midtown

    by wingman300 on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great time at Midtown Music Festival, next year they need a few more good (better) bands, and they should start on friday 5-12 and all day Saturday . Beer prices were way to high, but overall it was a great time and I liked the lay out of the park. We'll go again next year!

Coldplay A+, I had a great time! Really good vibe, I had the best time of my life.

  • Excellent lineup

by peppermintpete on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Manchester Orchestra and The Black Keys are the reason I bought tickets. Coldplay, Cage the Elephant and Young The Giant only supported my decision. All the bands did a fantastic job with the exception of The Constellations. I walked away halfway through their set. I was slightly disappointed with Band of Skulls stage presence. I thought black jeans and tshirts went away in the 90's. The Postelles were a fantastic opener. Way more talented than more than a few other bands at the show. The double stage was alright at first before the crowds converged. Up until Band of Skulls you could get good spots at both stages, but as soon as Manchester Orchestra started, you had to pick one stage or the other to be able to be anywhere even close to the stage. I'm glad the ones I wanted to see were on the big stage, but I would have liked to have seen Young The Giant and Cage The Elephant, but not at the expense of sacrificing location for The Black Keys and Coldplay. Of course with so many bands, there wasn't really any other option than cutting groups or starting earlier. The freaking blanket people were ridiculous in front of the stages. The beach balls were absolutely annoying, I didn't know Nickelback planned the event. They could have used a vendor that sold small commodities like sunblock, batteries etc. It was very warm and sunny that day. There were a lot of sunburned people at the end of the show. I thought The Constellations did a poor performance compared to everyone else. I liked everyone there but walked away halfway through their set.

  • The perfect event in the perfect venue!

by shelduboi on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

From the stages to the bands, Music Midtown 2011 was seriously one of the most impressive events that I have been to in a while. Not only is it awesome for the city, whoever chose the bands has seriously good taste. The time frames were perfect, the stage lengths apart were perfect..just flawless!

  • Thank goodness it's back.

by Anonymous on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

So many good bands for one ticket. Beautiful day in beautiful Piedmont Park. Black Keys kicked ass. Coldplay are some of the best entertainers out there, great music.
