  • Great event overall with two major flaws

    by eventgoer777 on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

The groups were fantastic and everything was surprisingly right on time. Food and beverage outlets provided for a great assorment and their abundance was spot-on for this event. Flaws While there were plenty of areas to place them, there were no port-a-pottys anywhere near the stages and you had to walk at least 10-15 min to get to them. There were plenty of them on hand, but they should have had some parked between the two stages.... there was plenty of room for them. I understand the need for barriers to keep out gate-crashers during the show. However, there was a dangerous crush of people trying to leave the venue after Coldplay closed. Forcing xx thousand people through a single 15' wide exit at one time could result in a very dangerous situation. They should have simply dropped the barriers to 10th Street and everyone could just walk out. I couldn't imagine the aftermath if something bad happened (e.g., 1996 Centennial Park) as you just couldn't get out of there. I do hope they bring the event back and think they did a great job overall and looking forward to next year already!

  • Music Midtown is BACK!!!!!

    by WSPFan2 on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Great day of music. The VIP package was well worth the price. Plenty of room , plenty of food/drink options. Recommend this for next year and hope they keep it to one day. Only negative comment was leaving the venue and being forced into only one area. Too crowded, need to open it up more.

  • Amazing, especially Coldplay

by linzlovescoldplay on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful day of music. Atlanta did a great job with traffic and lots of police on site. The park was super easy to find for out of town attendees like us. All the bands were great, especially Coldplay. A great venue for their show, especially with the lights and the fireworks. And the view of the Atlanta skyline in the background was unforgettable. Can't wait to here the lineup for next year!

  • Black Keys alone were worth the price.

by YoungTheGiant on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible shows on a beautiful day. Manchester Orchestra, Young the Giant and the Black Key couldnt have been better. Coldplay was better than I expected with a fun stage/light show.

  • Coldplay

by Litchie on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible concert!!!! They sounded great! Beautiful night to be at an outdoor concert in Piedmont Park. Where I was standing, the crown was a little under enthusiastic. Not much applause and cheering. I was really, really surprised. IT WAS, AFTERALL, FREAKIN COLDPLAY!!!!!!! Love them!!!!!

Had a blast. Coldplay and Black Keys were fantastic!

  • The black keys stole the show

by dkalafut on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome venue, great weather, and the black keys shouldn't have to play behind coldplay. They are worthy of being the headliner.

So...we got there at 4:15 and after watching the Joy Formidable for a little bit, we went to go to the other stage and we saw a girl lying on the ground puking. She was shwasted and it was not even 5:00...crazy. Then we saw MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA!!!! Their biggest fan in the world was in front of us and he had some crazy dance moves. He was really nice and shared some water out of his friends camelback...we thought it was going to be beer, but it really was water. After getting a delicious corn dog and barbq sandwich we listened to the last of young the giant.Walking back to our blanket we saw that the puking girl still had not moved and now two of her friend we making out and rolling around in the grss RIGHT NEXT TO THE PUKE. ugh When we went to listen to the Black Keys, we tried to recover the blanket we had put down earlier, but alas it was nowhere to be seen. We looked under everybodys feet and couldnt find it :(. After the Black Keys we charged to the front of the crowd to get ready for coldplay!! We were 20 feet from the stage and it was awesome

  • Such an amazing day

    by Jmac1433 on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The whole day was just amazing I got there right at 1 and was there the whole day and just had a great time. My friends and I won access to the redbull energy hub and that was amazing. I am really excited to go again next year.

  • Great experience!

by MMNewbie on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Coldplay was great and so were the black keys, and cage the elephant. A lot more people than I thought! Wish coldplay had played longer though; it felt like they ended early.

  • Coldplay was unforgettable. No really.

by Politk on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Music Midtown was absolutely amazing. Things ran smoothly from the courteous security and ticket scanners at the gates to the polite and obliging security down in the front, beyond the barrier. The sets ran like clockwork, and bands went on exactly when they were scheduled. The constellations sucked hard, but the joy formidable and manchester orchestra rocked hard and the black keys completely blew my mind with their energy and talent. Even so, all of these performances paled in comparison to Coldplay. I'm biased, because they're my clear and away favorite band, but this was their best performance I've seen. Thanks Music Midtown for hosting all of these great bands!

Awesome festival. Great music. Great layout. Unobtrusive staff. Horrible bathroom situation. This was potentially a big problem. Also, open up the gates to let people go home. There was a bit of a crush getting out.

  • Fabulous Event

by traceyrr on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This event was fabulous. Love the venue. Sound was great. Loved the dual stage set up! I would definitely do it again.

  • by MegDriggers on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

We got there around 8, so I wasn't there the whole day. But that said, and knowing the crowd had been there all day, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, the crowd was amazing, there wasn't a lot of trash everywhere, and everyone I saw were in great spirits. Crowd control leaving seemed great, no trouble getting in or out of the park. The Black Keys and Coldplay were phenomenal. I had never seen either of them live before, and I was pleasantly surprise at the energy of the show and how much each of those bands enjoys playing at the festival. It couldn't have been better!

  • Music midtown is back!

    by bravegirl1 on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The weather was perfect, loved the setting in the park, and thought the lineup was great. I was impressed with how well the event was run. The smaller scale was more appealing to me, and I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of fights and drunk, obnoxious, vomiting underaged kids. Looking forward to next year!

  • My First Coldplay Concert!!!

by JayBlisk on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Love it Love it Love it!!!! Can't wait to see them again!!! So explosive!!! And they sound as good in concert as they do on their albums.

  • Great Value!

    by lleach2010 on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Overall, we really liked the concert! It was very crowed but I guess that's what makes it fun :)

  • by Anonymous on 9/26/11PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Great performance by Coldplay. Awesome weather. The park was fun as always--very crowded, so lines for porta potties were long, but water was easy to find (very nice) and concession lines weren't bad--although, as expected, overpriced.

I just saw Manchester Orchestra, The Black Keys and Coldplay and that's all I needed. It was worth the money and the standing for 7 straight hours (to hold a good spot). Manchester's live performance is even better than the recordings, The Black Keys showed off their blues talent without flaw, and Coldplay's performance was fantastic. They put on a show that will leave you in awe for days. I'm excited for next year's Music Midtown.
