  • PJ was amazing but the Foos straight up killed it.

by TimothyNoles on 9/23/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

The good: great mix of bands, people were very friendly overall, MARTA was easy to use and affordable, two amazing headliners to close out each day of inspiring musicians. Very easy to get in and out of the park. The bad: cell service was non-existent. Not nearly enough food vendors. Lines for everything was ridiculous. The production tents were poorly placed and the screens should have been higher. The ugly: the bathroom situation was laughable. The locations of the port o lets were about as far as they could be and still be considered part of the venue. Not nearly enough potties for the number of people in attendance. Suggestions: simulcast the video from the live stage to the other stage. Play the music from the featured band to the other stage. More restrooms in better locations. Have more posters available. Offer some sort of vendor WiFi option for the day.

Great Shows - Foo Fighters, Neon Trees, Garbage, Adam Ant, Avett Bros et al were all terrific. Organization - No lines for the most part. HIgh quality food and drinks. Good crowd.

Foo fighters rocked my socks off. Every single artist that played was amazing. Great food, beer, piedmont park was a great location. Only thing I would ask to be changed is please add more port a pottys. The lines were outrageous!!

The music was awesome. Pearl Jam was epic. Avett Brothers perfect as always. Florence and Foo fighters were really good too. On the down side, not enough porta potties and too much littering. Beer and food were way overpriced.

  • Foo Fighters rocked the park!

  • Best $120 I've spent!

Friday: It was cool to see Joan Jett and the Blackhearts play live. Joan Jett is bad-ass and puts on a really great show. The Avett Brothers came out and played the best 90 minutes I’ve seen from them. Saturday: Ludacris was disappointing. It was the exact same show I saw less than a year ago. Everything was the same- most noticeably the obnoxious, self-promoting “chatter” between songs. Neon Trees were arguably the best of the day. The entire set was energetic and fresh. We learned things about who the Neon Trees are and what they represent. Florence + the Machine was next. I didn't get a great spot for this show, but from what I could see and hear, it was fantastic. Florence Welch seems like an amazing human- so talented and humble. Due to the back-to-back amazing shows, I had to take a dinner/potty break and didn't make it down to the stage for Girl Talk, an act I was really looking forward to. From afar, it seemed like an incredibly awesome, high-energy show. Pearl Jam was amazing. Eddie Vedder puts on a hell of a show. He did an excellent job of connecting with the crowd, and making us feel that he truly appreciated our presence as a crowd. The food was great- lots of options. My only complaint about the festival itself is having to stand in a 20-minute line for a porta-potty with no toilet paper. Overall, it was a great experience that really made me regret my decision not to go last year for Coldplay. I can’t wait for next year!

  • Foo Fighters!!!!

The Foo Fighters were amazing. The only reason we drove from Nashville, Tennessee to Atlanta, Georgia. I would see them over and over again!!!

  • Music Midtown 2012

    by JC42ATL on 9/23/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Music Midtown is an incredible bargain for about 50.00 per day. We saw Garbage, Neon Trees, Foo Fighters and my favorite Florence and the Machine!!! Florence Welch has such a stage presence and a very powerful voice that could compete with the best of them. She really engaged the audience and I could tell that everyone loved her.

  • Amazing bands, Great venue, value price

by LMOnync on 9/23/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This year was a great mix of musical genres, in very friendly, non-crazy crowd. The flow of the sequential shows was very well coordinated. The food trucks and vendors were so friendly. Only snafu was the toilet situation - the lack of, wait for, and overflowing of, on each day. There's got to be a better way to fix that. And we could have done without the strange performance of Adam Ant - not the same quality as the other bands and performances. We can't wait to attend next year and hear about the lineup!

  • So Impressed!

    by Melissa1984 on 9/23/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

I hadn't been to a Music Midtown since its former glory days. Long story short I was completely blown away. The vendors were amazing and there were so many activities! The line up was much improved (Foo Fighters and Florence+Machine= Amazing!!!). The only criticism I have is that for 52k people---not enough bathrooms!

  • I ALMOST CRIED DURING THE FOO FIGHTERS!!!

by dixiedieway on 9/23/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing, I say, AMAZING. The Avett Bros. Joan Jett , Luda, Florence, Neon Trees, Girl Talk, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam (and the rest, but i can not remember) were all out standing.

  • Iconic line up

by astanfo on 9/23/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Music Midtown is different than the amazing festival it was 10 years ago. However some incredible headliners seemed to be bringing it back to it's glory days. I bought the two day pass to see Foo Fighters friday and Pearl Jam saturday. While I remember the old days being packed in like sardines at the old festival the open venue at Piedmont Park seemed to work really well. There really wasn't a bad place of the field to take in the show however the back hill did seem way to chatty for a band that has only played Atlanta less than a handful of times in 2 decades.

  • The best....

The festival was the best place had ever been in USA...

  • by Anonymous on 9/23/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

So fun! Loved the set up and having two different stages so that there can be a constant stream of music. All the bands preformed well. The food was delicious (overpriced) but the port-a-potties were way over crowded.

  • Great Music, Full Bladder, Empty Wallet

by JCVOL on 9/23/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Definitely one of the best Music Midtown events I've attended music and sound quality wise. Really liked not having to try to block out the sound from multiple acts performing at the same time. Solid lineup, but I really didn't like the idea of giving a DJ such a prime spot. And I'm not a big fan of having hip-hop artists on the bill, either. But I realize I'm probably in the minority on that. Logistically, everything seems to work really well at Piedmont Park with the side-by-side stages. HOWEVER, next year would be even better if there were more bathrooms. There's plenty of extra room. Standing in line for the bathroom is to be expected at large events like this where everybody is drinking $10 domestic beer, but the waits were definitely excessive. Also, with more bathrooms, they probably wouldn't be quite as filthy at the end of the evening. Toward the end of Saturday night, my wife slipped on whatever was on the floor in one of them. Nasty. Overall we really enjoyed the weekend and are looking forward to seeing next year's lineup.
