Music Midtown was the experience of a lifetime! Being able to stand only feet from the stage was unreal!

Awesome lineup for the second year in a row!! But, you need more restrooms!!!

  • An experience to be remembered always!

My first year attending Music Midtown. This is one of those events that confirms money is best spent on experiences rather than things. I had an incredible time!

  • great show, but too crowded by the end.

by OCrawley on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first Music Midtown and hopefully not my last, but there were some definite high points and low points. The Foo Fighers still have it - they should have been the Saturday headliners, hands down. Pearl Jam is over the hill - stop booking bands that have more nostalgic value than actual remaining talent. Florence was a poor choice for a large, outdoor show. TI was amazing, but Ludacris needs to get over himself. Girltalk was all the raging dance-fest I hoped for, and in general I liked that there was so much variety in the lineup. Unfortunately, the poor crowd control, overflowing latrines, and obnoxious smokers made it hard to enjoy the later parts of the show. The Friday vibe was SO much better since there were a few thousand less people - by late on Saturday it was just too packed, too hard to get around, etc. Unless they limit the amount of attendees, I would consider just getting a Friday pass in the future.

  • Absolutely Wonderful......Except

by leftynga on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I had a blast all weekend, except for the lack of port a potties for the amount of people that attended. By the end of the night people were going to the bathroom in open spaces. It felt like Woodstock and not the good side of Woodstock.

  • Foo Fighters alone was worth the admission!

by egab on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Unbelievable line up, great food, love concerts at Piedmont Park!

  • Shows were awesome but need more bathrooms!

    by JessieJo51 on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

Had to spend an hour in bathroom line. Ridiculous!

  • Music Midtown Rocked!!

    by Htebazile5 on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The Music Midtown Festival was awesome! Foo Fighters, Florence and the Machine and Pearl Jam rocked! Tons of people but incredible show.

  • Pearl Jam...love it!

Overall, my experience with the festival was pretty great. I parked for five dollars about 4 to 5 blocks from the park and was very pleased with how cheap parking was. I was expecting to pay at least $20. Getting into the event was easy, the park was big enough for everyone, and the vendors moved quickly. The beer was warmer than I would have liked, but I suppose it wasn't easy to cool it down if its selling faster than you can chill it. There wasn't a bad seat in the house. I saw Foo Fighters Saturday and the show was awesome. I did use the porta johns that evening and they were gross. I mean, I didn't expect them to be awesome, but it would be nice is a) there was more light near/around/in them to see, and b) hand sanitizer in each one. There were plenty though and the line moved quickly. Saturday I saw Florence and Pearl Jam. Both shows were great. Only drawback were the frat boys behind me talking loudly about their conquests the night before during florence. seriously, people are there to listen to the music, not you talking. You know you're loud if people can not hear the music around you. Also, note to smokers, if you're jammed in like sardines, don't light up, its rude. This is coming from a smoker! Pearl Jam was awesome. They played the best set list I have seen to date. I have seen them in Seattle only and the crowd was a little different, but I still rocked. I wanted to get close, but again, said frat boys were very pushy and shovy about it, so I just went farther back to the crowd to get some air and actually enjoy the show without worrying about being stomped on. I would have liked to have seen more taxis near the venue at the end of the night. I had to walk pretty far, and on my own, and having a taxi to take me to parking would have been better. Don't know if that is something you can work on. Maybe more garbage cans around the venue so less beer cans get thrown on the ground :(

  • Too many people not enough bathrooms!

by RDMM on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

The line-up was amazing but God forbid if you had to use the restroom or go get some food you could be waiting up to an hour or longer in the 100+ people deep lines for 1 porta-potty. Just ridiculous!! Next time I wll go VIP or not at all......

  • Midtown Music Festival

by CanadaRob on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic event. Headliners were amazing. Sound quality for Pearl Jam wasn't the greatest but still an amazing performance. Headliners were limited to 2 hours, which wasn't enough time for either band. Everyone attending was in festival spirits and seemed like everyone was having a good time. Food was great. Beer was expensive, but that is typical of these events. Not enough go-huts for the size of the crowd.

  • Wonderful Time

by Scched on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

My friend and I attended Music Midtown Friday evening. The environment was incredible as were the bands. All three acts we watched came out right on time and performed wonderfully (even TI, who I am not a huge fan of, was impressive and fun). They had a wide variety of food and drinks, and the variety of people there made for great people watching. Will definitely be attending next year! Thanks!

Ludacris, Foo Fighters, Florence & The Machine and Pearl Jam rocked.

  • Avett Brothers were great.

    by Donrc2 on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Good event overall needed more port a pottys and another woodchuck cider tent. Avetts were the big highlight for the weekend. The tents at the bottom of the viewing of at least one stage for many people and could have been moved to the top of the hill.

Very smooth despite the huge crowd. As always, there could have been more bathrooms. I missed Girl Talk because of a painful 45 minute port-a-potty line...

  • Sound Check!

    by AJohnson286 on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Concert was overall really enjoyable! Love being able to spread a blanket out and chilling while listening to live music! Avett Bros were my favorite (my fav band), Florence and the machine rocked my socks of, Foo Fighters were awesome and Pearl Jam was... well... kind of dissappointing. Not because they weren't good... they were! The sound was just so messed up! Did they even do a sound check? One minute it was so low I could barely hear them and the next it was loud and it kept fluctuating like that the remainder of the show! :( Also, no debit cards?!? That was a pain in the ass! I felt like I waited in line the entire time I was there! Overall - live music is live music and I love it!!!!

  • Foo Fighters! Great show!

by luckybutton on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

My husband and I went to see the Foo Fighters play at Midtown Music Festival 09/21/12. We stayed in a hotel about 2 miles from Piedmont Park, where the festival was held. If you're okay with walking, it's easy to get to. The Marta system is pretty confusing- we couldn't really find anyone willing to help us with which route we need, etc. We eventually took a cab to and from the festival- fares running us about $12.50 but well worth it to avoid the crowds and hassle of the bus system. There were a decent amount of porto johns- I brought a few squares of tp from the hotel myself, because the johns are gross. Drinks are outrageously prices as usual. $10 for a tall boy. The atmosphere was great, I didn't see any fights going on or any suspicious behavior- other than a few pot smokers trying not to be seen, but that's normal for a music festival. Overall, the expierence was fantastic. It was our first time seeing the Foo Fighters and they did not disappoint! Highly recommend this festival!!

  • girl talk was amazing

    by jwatts85 on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The whole event was amazing...... Met a few cool people, but the bands WERE PHENOMENAL!!!

  • Great weekend!

by Emmmmleh on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Overall it was a great experience with very few issues. Not sure what the expected attendee quantity was, but that seemed to be the only snag. T shirts ran out quick, lines were super long, food ran out quickly... But it was still a great time.

  • Foo Fighters rocked it!

by ceoman on 9/24/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

What were the positives? 1. Weather was perfect! 2. Foo Fighters played their hearts out! 3. The portable bathrooms were the best I have ever used. What were the negatives? 1. Program cost. We were in the VIP section which was not worth the cost. 2. Food. The food was average.
