  • LP and FLORENCE & THE MACHINE WERE AWESOME!!!

    by KnSat184 on 9/27/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

We came to see LP and Florence & The Machine! They were both amazing! The sound was great, the views were wonderful & we had a very good time! Honestly though, there was just too much alcohol! We don't drink & we had a hard time finding non-alcoholic beverages! This made for too many drunks hanging out in the hot sun all day! I think bags need to be checked more thoroughly! We saw people smuggling in large bottles of liquor, people were passing out pills & rolling joints. I guess to some, this makes a great concert - party like atmosphere, not to me. Overall, it was unforgettable!

  • Great Weekend!

Great bands, Good show, not nearly enough restroom facilities (ports-potties)!!!!

  • by FortLauderdaleRocker on 9/27/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome event, easy to get to and very well planned. My only complain was the lack of sufficient bathrooms. Many different vendors of food and alcohol. Bands were amazing... specially... foo fighters and pearl jam. I will definitely go again next year!

  • Foo Fighters and Florence

by DrAnnieBE on 9/27/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

We didn't attend much, as we are old and decrepit and can't hang with the young folks anymore. We got to the venue in time for the Foo Fighters on Friday and they were amazing. We were able to stand relatively close (about 75 yards away from the stage) and people were pretty calm and tame - not too much shoving or jockeying. Only annoying things were cigarettes way too close to our faces and I'm just glad I didn't get drug tested at work on Monday - I would have failed just from the contact buzz!

Incredible Experience!! Once in a lifetime line-up to include Pearl Jam, Florence & the Machine, and Ludacris (in ATL).

by BigShow on 9/27/12Peidmont Park - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Twice as many days as last year, but still only 2/3 as many as the good ole days. But we're gettin there. I don't know how many times I missed Joan Jett in the past but not this year. That chick can kick some serious ass, and she's 53. Although you couldn't tell it by her appearance. She still looks like she's in her 30s, at least from down in the crowd. Kristen Stewart should pray she ages that well. Her tight, sweaty, sexy ass still fearlessly rocks it after all these years without any sign of slowing down. I had forgotten how many tunes I knew by her, including their cover of "Crimson and Clover." I remember "I Love Rock N Roll" being played during elementary school PE class and thinking that it was a little edgy for such young ears. Of course the lyrics are harmless but those are some tasty punk-ish riffs. I was a little disappointed we missed "Bad Reputation" but patience is truly a virtue... Then there was TI. I'm sorry, but not that sorry, I just don't get it. Most of you know that I'm not a fan of rap but live rap is down right pointless. Its karaoke on a huge stage. He did have "musicians" with him but, aside from the drummer, I bet even those of us without any musical experience could learn what the guitarist and bassist were playing within a few hours. However, millions of people can't be wrong, right? Though I think I would sleep much more soundly if they were. We had to forgo seeing the Avett Brothers in order to insure a good spot for the Foo Fighters. Dave and company consistently bring it with everything they have, every time. Perhaps a little too consistent. They played the same covers, Pink Floyd's "In The Flesh?" with drummer Taylor Hawkins on vocals and Tom Petty's "Breakdown", that they played when I saw them back in November. The Foos acquiring Hawkins is probably the greatest poach in modern rock history (sorry Alanis, he rocks too hard for you anyway). Later, they were joined by Joan Jett to thrash on the afore mentioned missed song, "Bad Reputation." Kindred spirits, Dave and Joan. They could be brother/sister or husband/wife on a different plane of existence. After 2 solid hours of rockin the Park, they ended the night with "Everlong." We got there about half way through Luda's set and have to admit, he had a much better rapport with the crowd than TI. So, we weaved our way through the much denser crowd than the previous night to get closer to the closers, Pearl Jam. But we had to stand through Florence + the Machine, first. She eventually came out to the technical difficulties of a silent mic. She was obviously a little frazzled from the misfire and once it started working she tried going backstage and coming out again and again, something went wrong and flustered her further. Once everything was operating correctly, she apologized, made some jokes and begged for a drink. She had split stage presence, one minute she was thrashing with her fire red hair going everywhere, then she would be very still in these spiritual poses. Never thought I would have seen her live, anyway. After hours and hours of standing very close to a lot of people at once, the lights went out and it was all worth it. Its been 9+ years since PJ has been in Atlanta. I've enjoyed traveling to several different cities to see them since then, but damn, its about time they were back. They revved on stage opening with "Why Go" and charged through many more before stopping to say hello. Making up for lost time; I like it. They jammed on plenty of hits, not surprising for a festival, but mixed in some deeper tracks for the devotees. Eddie was only political once and it was all about voting, in general, and not about who to vote for, which was nice. They slayed on "Do The Evolution" and "Amongst the Waves," a couple of my favorites, and just kept going until the curfew would eventually take precedent. Eddie seemed like he really didn't want to leave. He kept checking with someone on the side-stage to see how much time was left and kept adding more songs to take up every second they could. The others had to strap their instruments back on a couple of times. The last time he came out and said "We only have 2 minutes left so we're going to rush through this one!" and played "Rockin' in the Free World" to end the night and abruptly fled the stage. Loved the efficient use of time, boys!

The lineup was great and the location was extremely nice but the restroom situation was beyond ridiculous. We missed an entire act Friday night and entire act Saturday night waiting in line to use the facilities. For that size crowd, there should have been more available. We heard the same complaint from everyone we spoke to. No one had a negative word to say about anything whatsoever except the restrooms.

  • Music Midtown 2012

    by Downtown26 on 9/26/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because of Pearl Jam. The restroom facilities at this "festival" we're lacking greatly in numbers. Other than that, the park was quite beautiful.

  • Foo Fighters totally worth it

by ThisOneHere on 9/26/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Arrived in time for Foo Fighters concert. Getting into the park was basically a breeze, enjoyed the show, the lighting and such. Would definitely go see them again at Music Midtown should they make future appearances.

  • Foo and pearl an amazing combo!!!

by musicrocksmost on 9/26/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

I bought super VIP tickets which were well worth it!! I had a great time and didn't want for clean bathrooms, food and drink. Highly recommend this option. Felt bad for the 52,000 people who didn't have enough bathrooms, atm's that ran out of money in a cash only venue, etc....

  • by midtownpark on 9/26/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

It was a good festival, very diverse. Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam put on an amazing show. I was lucky enough to win the sky box passes for Foo Fighters. Pearl Jam was extremely crowded though. I still enjoyed every minute of it. Florence + the Machines also put on a really good show, even though I was there waiting for Pearl Jam.

  • PEARL JAM ROCKED IT!

    by DJ2403 on 9/26/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Pearl Jam was amazing. It was good to see them back in Atlanta. Just an amazing day of music. The crowd was huge, but awesome.

  • Awesome event

    by RaleighFan2 on 9/25/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome event...2 days of music in the sun with great food and lots of beer. Wished the gates opened earlier so we could have roamed around and shopped and ate more before the music started full on.

  • Dave Grohl's my hero!!

by Anonymous on 9/25/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Being a member of one of the best and biggest American audiences that Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters have ever played for (his words, not mine) was truly an unforgettable experience. The festival as a whole was carried out in such a way that every moment felt enjoyable, and the lineup was surely one to remember. Music Midtown was one of the most entertaining and eventful musical events that I have ever attended--and that comes from a performing musician. Two of the biggest bands in their genre (and arguably of all time), Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam, along with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Florence and the Machine, Neon Trees, and many more provided an unforgettable weekend filled with great music.

  • Great weather, great bands

Great weather, great bands. I wish it was a little bit louder.

  • 2 Incredible Days!!!

by tiffygirl on 9/25/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time to attend this festival. Adam Ant was the reason I bought the tickets; the whole experience is the reason I will attend this event every year from now on!!! Amazing people and performances!

  • Pearl Jam was amazing as always!

by LordGoofy on 9/25/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

I only went to Saturday's show and it seemed a well ran event. I had no problems finding food and a bathroom when needed. Garbage, Luda put on a great show, Florence + The Machine was good (I really didn't know much of their music) and of course the main reason I went, Pearl Jam rocked the entire 2 hour slot they had and even went over the time limit to which Eddie said "F it, I will pay it". The only problem I had is this, do people lack common courtesy anymore? I had to fight people off for 8 of the 10 hours. I staked my spot out at 1230 pm, just because you came in late to see one band, doesn't give you the right to push, shove and kick people out of your way because you feel you are entitled a spot up front.
