  • Best 25th birthday EVER!

    by annapeach16 on 10/2/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my second year going and it did not let me down! I love the variety in bands, there were more porta potties this time (thank goodness!), and I LOVE that it's always around my birthday! PLEASE keep up the great work!!!!!

  • Foo Fighters were amazing!!

The event was great, and of course, the talent was incredible. So glad I made it.

The lineup during Saturday of Music Midtown was great for me mainly because I love listening to Florence & the Machine and I think Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam) has amazing vocal capabilities. I had a really amazing time listening to these artists (plus Ludacris played too...) and learning that Florence is just as amazing live as on her albums.

All the bands sounded great live, The Foo Fighters were amazing.

  • A lineup packed fest!!

    by draaco5 on 10/1/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Never being to music midtown before or to midtown Atlanta before, I didn't know what to expect. All I knew was the lineup was outstanding. After the first day I was amazed. The second day was breathtaking. Honestly, this festival was one of the funnest I've ever been to. The venue was really great too. Amazing fields that softly inclined the farther away from stage you got. The only negatives were the lack of porta johns closer to the stage. They were a hike across the whole venue from the stages. And the other was the number of people, but you can't really avoid such crowds when the headliners were such. Either way, thanks for a great time Atlanta. See you next year!!!

  • All the way from So Cal...

    by PeaceFrog25 on 10/1/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I flew from California to see Pearl Jam and upon seeing the lineup I call it a bonus; then Foo Fighters, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Garbage, Adam Ant, liked Van Hunt, sorry I missed Avett Brothers - my only misstep. An amazing festival with many new friends and the music was incredible. Thank you!

  • Foo Fighters Rocked Atlanta

I flew in from Houston to see the Foo Fighters and I wasn't dispaaointed. They rocked it for 2 hours.

Very organized given the amount of people at the event. Well worth the price of the ticket!

  • Music Midtown 2012 was Enjoyable

by JessOfEmory on 9/30/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Bottom line: If you like enough of the artists in the line-up or have a range of the types of music you can enjoy on the fly, then the ticket price is reasonably cost effective. However, don't expect a high-quality music festival experience (relatively speaking) because Music Midtown certainly feels thrown together. The line-up wasn't extremely mind-blowing, but I don't expect an outstanding line-up from a music festival such as Music Midtown which I feel is aimed at the general public who are composed of both music fanatics and music dabblers. There's definitely a different feel to Music Midtown when compared to other music festivals that attract a greater ratio of extreme music fans to music dabblers. For example, it was common to see a lot of the crowd at even the headlining shows composed of people who weren't really paying attention to the performance at all. The audio set up could have been better considering the amount of people who go to MM; Dave Grohl's mic could have been louder. The experience is really made by the company you have and whether you and your friends are really into the experience and/or music. I can imagine a true Pearl Jam fan being content with this year's MM, but I can also imagine plenty of people who aren't too enthusiastic about any of the artists without the right company being kind of disappointed. I can also see how having to pay for lodging in Atlanta or traveling from out of town may be a significant factor against going to MM.

AMAZING. The line up was great, vibe was really chill.

  • Foo Fighters were awesome!!!!

by bktxgl on 9/28/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

We drove from St Louis to see the Foo Fighters in concert. Well worth the drive. Pearl Jam was a little disappointing. I don't think I would care to see them again in concert. Too much talking and not enough music. We are looking forward to next year and we will definitely be there. Suggested bands for next year: Stone Temple Pilot, Aerosmith,Cheap Trick,U2,Inxs,Shooting Star and of course Foo Fighters.

  • Good stuff

by Anonymous on 9/28/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

A two day music festival that allowed me to finally hear Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam! One of those shows alone would have been worth the ticket price. It was great hearing Florence + the Machine, Garbage, and The Avett Brothers live again. Great mix of artists (see above as well as Neon Trees, Joan Jett, Ludacris, TI, Adam Ant, and others. The music was wonderful, the sound for Pearl Jam was lacking, but they still rocked! The venue was nice, but the port-a-pottys were horrible. It would have been great if they could have them serviced more than once and maybe have a team that ensured they were stocked or had sanitizer available (line management would have been nice as well). Great selection of vendors, not enough water stations. Vendors should have been more spread out.

  • Friday night was way better!!!

by TheLadyBeans on 9/28/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

I was more excited about the bands playing on Saturday but Friday night was better! The FooFighters and Joan Jett were out of this world. On Saturday it seemed they were having sound issues. When Florence and the machine came onstage her mic was off and the one they replaced it with wasn't up to par. You could barely hear the vocals during most of her performance-I was 5 rows from the stage. We actually left in the middle of pearl jam because the sound was mediocre at best. While I had a blast at the 2 day event, for as much as I paid for tickets, I hope they can get it together next year!

  • Phenomenal Foo's Concert

    by Lgray370 on 9/28/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This is my first time at music midtown and what an experience. Am so glad I did the VIP due to the length of lines just to get in, great draft beer selection (Sweetwater and others), seats and air conditioned toilets. I only wanted to see the foo's but enjoyed Van Hunt as an opening act. TI put on a good show even though I had never heard any of his music before Now the Foo Fighters put on the best show I have ever seen. What an amazing night, great view from our section, wished they could have gone on longer than the two hours. The song with Joan Jett was a treat.

  • It was Awesome!!!

by nimmy on 9/28/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed Ludacris and Girl Talk! My friend and I went for my sixteenth birthday and it was amazing!!! The only problem I had was the really wasted people. Apparently they always have to bother you and touch you. But whatever it was fun!

  • Go if you really love the bands

by pjfanatmidtown on 9/28/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

I'm glad I went, because Pearl Jam is one of my favorite bands. We camped out in the back left of the field. The sound quality and volume was loud throughout the day. But when Pearl Jam started, the sound literally fell apart. Not only was the mix off, but the volume fluctuated between quite and loud. There were moments we couldn't make out what song it was. And then, boom, the sound would be back up to a reasonable volume. This happened several times during each song, to the point that it was highly distracting and not enjoyable. Eventually we made our way to the right / center of the field, and the quality improved. I wish we moved there sooner, as I walked away from Music Midtown glad to see my favorite band but wishing I could have heard the entire show. Also, the lines for ATMs were extraordinary. I waited 45 minutes so that I could get cash to buy an $8 burrito. Many of the ATMS seemed to not be functioning. And the bathroom situation was among the grossest experience I've ever witnessed in my life.

  • Great lineup, VIP did not offer better seats

by ashevillerx on 9/28/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

The line up chosen for this year was impressive. We were excited to see Pearl Jam performing so close to where we live. The lineup was so much fun this year. Our favorites were T.I., Ludacris, Foo Fighters, and Pearl Jam. The weather was nice for the whole weekend and Piedmont Park was easy to get to from the MAARTA. One odd thing that we did experience was that some of the tshirts sold at the event merchandise booth smelled literally like garbage. This would have been fine if everyone who bought tshirts had not decided to wear them immediately. Overall fun experience. Our seats: VIP was poorly designed and had some of the worst seats in the house. We ended up standing in GA for hours waiting for PJ to come on to play. VIP was setup where you had to watch the concert through a metal fence on the side. My suggestion for next year is that they create some sort of bridge that goes over the crowd to an elevated viewing platform near the middle or extend the VIP fence into the viewing area so that you can get a little closer since you just paid $200 more per person to be there. The only other issue that arose was with one of the volunteers not allowing us back into the VIP section around 10:30 pm giving us the statement "You should have never left VIP in the first place." This definitely needs to be addressed for next year's festival.

  • by Anonymous on 9/27/12PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Foo Fighters were amazing and we enjoyed the perks of VIP. However, there are a few things to improve. Our tickets stated we had seats...where were these seats? We saw chairs but there was no indication as to reservation status nor a seat identifier. Also, better communication from event staff in terms of where to go. We "stumbled" around and finally found our section. Fantastic selection of beers, wine, non-alcoholics, etc. By far the food and setup of VIP exceeded our expectations. We will be back in VIP next year!

  • Pearl Jam is Amazing
