  • Awful sound system and terrible organization!

    by Pattycakes227 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

The sound quality was absolutely horrible. During RHCP, we couldn't even hear the guitar. Another problem was the fact that they did not coordinate the start/stop times and allowed the obnoxious noice of 2ChainZ to start before the first concert on the next stage had even finished. Same problem occurred at the beginning of RHCP. Will not go again. Bonnaroo is a much better experience.

  • Music Midtown Festival

by uncordinated on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

There were way too many people there, lines @ porta john's 10 deep. Lines to get beer were a 10 minute waite. Twenty year olds pushing there way up front after people got spots way before hand. And to top it off, got food poisoning.

Every band played fantastically, such energy throughout the entire event. Favorite time of the year.

  • ADA Stage (Disability Platform) was poorly placed

by Muzzum on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Someone must have not realized it when they put up the mixing tent at the Electric Ballroom Stage (The stage where RHCP and Journey performed) because the mixing tent had a rounded roof which completely blocked the entire stage from the ADA platform. The view to the stage next to it was not blocked and the Roxy stage had an exceptionally good position - for which we are very appreciative. Please consider flattening the mixing tent roof next year and we will come again! Otherwise this was an amazing event, filled with great bands, good people, and a relatively clean atmosphere. Even with it raining the second day, the general crowd was fun and respectful which improves my opinion of Atlanta. The value of the ticket is second to none, considering all of the bands and made for a great weekend for my wife and I.

  • Great music - poorly organized

by Aheeem on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

The acts they brought together but the logistics were not. There was always at least a 10 minute line for the port-o potties and it could be up to 30 minutes. The second day we waited in the rain to get in for the entire Weezer act. There is no reason for there to be ONE entry for a venue and audience that size. Just horrible planning. The sound for Tegan & Sara was spotty at first and the RHCP was not loud enough even when we were within close range of the stage. And they were the headliner!

  • Crowded with no organisation

by qwet on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

I've only been to 1 festival before (Pohoda, Slovakia in Europe) so only can use that one for comparison. Pohoda's site is 3 times bigger and yet the capacity is set to only 30,000. I didn't realize how much can this change the whole festival experience. Music Midtown is small, overcrowded and understaffed (need more/bigger gates and way more staff!!!) with no organisation (especially at the gates). I was waiting in the (very long) queue while hundreds of people were just passing me going straight to the gate. If you can't rely on people being polite then hire some staff who will organise them and make them wait in the queue! I've missed 2 bands because this chaos at the main gate. Corridors between food trucks, shops and restrooms were too narrow. Congested for almost the whole time. Slopes around 2 main stages were used by people to sit/lie down but there were no designated corridors for people who were just passing trying to get closer to the stages. This resulted to people walking through other people who were sitting and stepping on their blankets/feet/hands with their muddy shoes. I came to enjoy the music, not to watch whether somebody is going to walk over me. This is a festival made with only 1 purpose - MAKE MONEY. You can't let 100,000 people into such a small area with so little staff and no organisation whatsoever. Bands were good but the crowds and chaos in organisation absolutely ruined it for me. Never again. RHCP were advertised to play for 2 hours, but they've cut it 20 mins short. I guess that big headlining stars can just decide themselves how long they're going to play. I wish I can do the same at work and leave 1 hour sooner every day. Come to festival Pohoda in Slovakia if you want to see event where customer satisfaction is the priority for organisers, not the money they're paying.

  • Rain, rain, go away!

    by youngar2 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

Music Midtown is not worth going to in the rain. They also need to have more than one entrance. We arrived early, and got in within 20 minutes, but my friends had to wait for almost two to get in a little later in the day. There was a woman screaming at people for having umbrellas that were too big. She didn't have a security shirt, or anything that indicated that she was involved with Music Midtown. She pointed out people in line and demanded that they leave their umbrellas and that they weren't liable if they weren't there when they leave.

  • Horrible cannot begin to describe!

by Shanntastical on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

Rain aside, this event was horribly run and executed. We checked all 3 entrances (which had lines wrapping around street blocks) and ended up waiting an hour and a half (missing most of the bands we wanted to and PAID to see). I live 2 blocks from the show and we left at 1 and didn't get in until after 3. Not to mention that hoards of people were cutting in line and sneaking into VIP. Also once I got close to the front of the entrance the ticket checkers abandoned even checking tickets and were just letting anyone in. I even considered contacting American Express and asking for a refund since I paid to get in and they were just letting anyone in. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Event staff was unknowledegable and NOT helpful. I definitely will not be attending ever again.

  • Music Midtown was good

by Stevethegreaseguy on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

As has been the case at past Music Midtown festivals in Atlanta, the lineup was good. The basic layout of the event was good. The restroom situation needs a lot of improvement. The 3 stages had good solid sound until the Red Hot Chili Peppers played as the Saturday night headliner. The Peppers performed with their usual energy and top notch playlist but the sound was mediocre. What happened? Too much went into this event to have sound issues for the headliner. Overall this was a good event.

  • Ineptitude kept crowds standing at gate for 2 hrs

by Langor on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 1 out of 5

Friday was fun. Weather was good. Jane's Addiction was the highlight for me. Saturday, I showed up at 2 and stood in line for 2 and half hours in the rain, while event staff and police told the crowd that security was only letting a few people in at a time. After 2.5 hours and listening to the entire Weezer concert from the street in the pouring rain, I gave up and scalped my ticket. Event staffers were uninforrmed and powerless and blamed higher-ups for their ineptitude. I agree with them. Their bosses, the supposed professionals who put on this event, are inept. I will never go back to Music Midtown again.

First time at Music Midtown! Can't wait for next year!

  • YYY's were amazing!!

by Ctmswimmer on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

We both wish we hadn't purchased tickets for Friday. I also wish the Yeah Yeah yeahs had headlined one of the nights, even over the Chili Peppers! If you haven't seen the Chili Peppers by now, you've missed the train. They played well but I had already seen them 6 times and the last concert was awful.

  • Terrible Planning

    by Packerfan55 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

All the bands were great but pretty much every aspect of the festival was terribly planned, from the hour long waits just to get in and the unhelpful security staff. It was still fun but jesus...

  • Overcrowded and not worth the price

    by JP129 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

The musicians and bands playing really did put on a great show, but unfortunately the disgusting weather and the massive crowds really put a dent into the weekend. I waited 20 minutes to use an absolutely disgusting porta-potty and once I got back to the stage/concert area, it was difficult to find a decent spot. i would not pay $80 to do that again...I would rather pay $120 in ticket fees to go see each of those performers on their own tours.

  • Great except one thing!

by JimmyColGA on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

Concert was fun! Good location and the lineup was great for the ticket cost! Only one complaint and that is the bathrooms! There weren't nearly enough johns for the event. Average wait time was at least 30 minutes.

  • Go back to no conflict between artists...

    by Tcgould2 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 3 out of 5

Good shows but please make the schedule non conflicting. More restrooms..

  • Getting better and better every year.

by BryanCT on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Midtown's diverse line up will keep me coming for years and years. The bands were excellent this year. Logistics are improving, but could be better. The most disappointing part of this event is the port-o-potties. Their better than last year but not remarkable.

  • the neighbourhood was soooo good!

by mariaaaaaaaa on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

even though it rained, as soon as sweater weather came on I completely forgot about everything and started singing along.

  • Find of the Festival - Capital Cities

    by dj27 on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Capital Cities proved to be a great addition to Music Midtown. Their catchy rhythms and amazing brass had us dancing in the mud and not caring about the weather.

  • A Weekend Of Epic Performance!!

by Marshiemarie on 9/24/13PIEDMONT PARK - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I bought this ticket to see 4 bands: Jane's Addiction, Journey, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers which all put on great shows. I give a 5 star rating for these performances in my review. Jane's Addiction- a good rock band with the acoustic version of "Jane Saids" Journey- instrumental solos by all the members, Arnel Pinneda puts on a good lead show, several sing alongs, and a special "Georgia" ending to wow The Yeah Yeah Yeahs- completely rocked. Karen O you are fantastic! The Red Hot Chili Peppers- new hits mixed with old with Flea entertaining. The visuals on stage were superior. The best show of the festival! The Music Midtown festival had good performers all around, the festival could be better organized (ex: more restrooms, more higher quality food, and a better ticket system that would not crash come rain/clouds). I also think that 10th street should close for about an hour after to let the rush of 80,000+ people get on their ways by foot.
