About

Everyone's favorite Scottish nanny is headed on tour in "a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers" (The Hollywood Reporter). Based on the beloved film and directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Mrs. Doubtfire tells the hysterical and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor who will do anything for his kids. It's "the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we need right now," raves the Chicago Tribune - one that proves we're better together.

  • A must see

by Rachel on 10/27/23The National Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

One the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. Mrs.Doubtfire/Daniel should get some sort of award for his performance. Nothing better than a musical comedy. Songs were fun and funny.

  • Blew us away!

by Fred J. on 10/20/23The National Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

We had modest expectations. After all, who could live up to Robbin Williams' version of Mrs. Doubtfire. Well, our entire family was blown away by a thoroughly entertaining show by an amazing cast. Highly recommended for all!

We were so pleasantly surprised how wonderful the production of Mrs Doubtfire was Sunday. It was a true delight & very well preformed. I would recommend this show to all families that enjoy broadway productions. Thank you to all who took part . My family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • Fabulous musical storytelling

by TF on 10/19/23The National Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Brought the whole family out to watch this amazing performance! Loved the retelling of the story, the dancing and music, and the actors were truly fantastic! It’s hard to beat Robin Williams, but Rob McClure is perfect for this role, so very talented, and makes the whole story work. Maggie Lakis and Giselle Gutierrez (truly, the entire cast!) have incredible voices and sing these songs with such emotion, I cried! Just a gorgeous show, amazing production, and worth seeing 1000%!

Show was very good. The singing was great and so was the acting. We thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • The show was exceptional! Seats…not so much

by BT on 10/19/23The National Theatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The writing, music, dancing, and acting were great. Never a dull moment. The seats in the national Theater, however, leave much to be desired. They get more uncomfortable as the show progresses, impacting the experience.

  • Great entertainment

I enjoying the musical much more than the movie. As with many live shows, it was very entertaining and deeply moving.

  • Disappointed

by Cher on 10/19/23The National Theatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

The program was good but disappointed as the father crossed dress only to be with his children not that he was anything else but a man married to a woman and wanting to be with children nothing more should of been read into the concept Not sure Robin Williams would of liked the change to try to fit it into the world’s ideas not beard on truths The cast did a great job the voices well done on that aspect

  • awesome!

  • Absolutely fantastic!

by Patty on 10/18/23The National Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Having loved the movie, I knew the broadway adaptation of Mrs. Doubtfire would be enjoyable, but I had no idea how much I would laugh throughout the whole production! The actors were all tremendously talented, especially the lead, who played Mrs. Doubtfire. The random modernizations they made to the script, to the musical numbers that added to it- it was probably one of the most enjoyable shows I have seen in a long time. Definitely well worth seeing!

Light hearted musical version of movie. Phenomenal acting/singing/dancing/costume changes for Rob McLure. Great score. Not a deep topic but very entertaining

This musical was absolutely phenomenal. I was really hoping that it didn’t mess my favorite childhood movie up. They did not disappoint.

  • Um, WOW!!!

by Christena on 10/16/23The National Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

My 14-year-old son loves live theatre - musicals especially - so I got these tickets without too many expectations… I’d seen the movie, obviously, but didn’t really know how it would adapt to a stage musical. I had read a couple of ‘meh’ reviews, so we went in with no real expectations and just happy to get out. BUT. WOW! Rob McClure and the whole cast were outstanding. It was funny, touching and the music and choreography were fantastic. My kid was beaming with joy (and he’s not much of a Beamer these days - being a teenager and all). It was kid friendly (mostly), but with all sorts of fun subtle jokes and innuendos that made it PIXAR fun for everyone. Great fun - great show!

The actors performance was outstanding. They kept the spirit of the storyline throughout the show. They incorporated upto date items like cell phones, perfectly. I throughly enjoyed the musical version

  • A Fun Night at the Theater

by ajfsurvey on 10/16/23The National Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The show captured the spirit of the movie very well. Rob McClure is a terrific performer. The rest of the cast were wonderful as well. The songs were catchy and fit the plot well. Top notch production values all around. I would recommend this to anyone who is within reach of a tour stop.

Start to finish, one of the best shows I have witnessed. Rob McClure is beyond amazing. The whole cast is marvelous. I love that it stuck to the story and made me remember the movie and Robin that I love so much.
