About

MORRISSEY IN CONCERT:

Stop me if you think you've heard this one before: indie rock hero and consummate dandy Morrissey is back on tour, and fans can expect him to pull no punches as he continues his reign as music's favorite contrarian.  With his outspoken vegetarianism, erudite literary references, and floral self-flagellation, Morrissey became one of pop culture's most notorious and influential figures in the '80s as frontman of beloved alt-rock band the Smiths, and three decades later he's lost none of his piss and vinegar. Whether he's treating audiences to Smiths classics like "This Charming Man," opining on solo favorites like "The Last of the Famous International Playboys," or debuting cuts from 2014's World Peace Is None of Your Business, Morrissey is sure to dazzle with his legendary showmanship and politically-charged sets.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

British-born Steven Patrick Morrissey was an avid consumer of pop and punk from an early age, performing in several Manchester-based bands before forming the Smiths with guitarist Johnny Marr in 1982. After building a considerable following with early singles like "What Difference Does It Make?"  and "This Charming Man," the Smiths released their self-titled 1984 debut LP to a No. 2 spot on the UK Albums Chart. Three more seminal albums would follow, including 1986's The Queen Is Dead, named the "Greatest Album of All Time" in 2013 by NME. Following the dissolution of the Smiths in 1987, Morrissey made his solo debut with 1988's Viva Hate, topping the UK Albums Chart on the strength of hits like "Suedehead" and "Everyday Is Like Sunday." Over the course of nine more studio albums, Morrissey continued to build on the legacy he began with the Smiths, setting expectations high for the 2014 release of World Peace is None of Your Business, his first new album since 2009's Years of Refusal.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Mad respect for Morrissey - he sounds amazing live... His interaction with the crowd was great, it was my first time and I fell in love with him even more."

    Morrissey is Great

by Music Man on 10/25/23United Palace - New York

Morrissey still sounds wonderful, after forty years on stage. His voice is rich and in top form. The fans are enraptured and time stands still during his show. An artist who is under appreciated, Morrissey is worth seeing in concert as a stark contrast to highly packaged acts. This is simply a man, his lyrics, his voice, and his band. The excellent essentials.

The old boy still has his charm

by Jimmy Slim on 10/25/23United Palace - New York

After many years since casting my eyes and ears directly on the patron saint of the Manchester scene I was gobsmacked at how great he still sounds and that his snarl is still in place. He ran through a set list that covered his early Smith's days as well as hitting on all the major high points of his solo career. With Morrissey you never know if this will be his last tour so it was great to see him still in fine form. Although he did not play what I consider the best Smith's piece I believe he is telling us "There is a light that never goes out"....Long live Morrissey!

    Like fine wine

by NelsonGarciaCanada on 10/25/23United Palace - New York

Very few artists get a true chance to age gracefully and Mozzer has done just that. Gerat venue, sound and setlist. The artist was in the best of moods. An unforgettable experience for my birthday.

Excellent show. Morrissey sounded great as did his band. Good mix of solo songs and Smiths tunes. He was talkative and of course remarkably dressed 😁

    Too small, too short

by Pia on 10/24/23United Palace - New York

The theatre is beautiful but the sits are very small and smelly. The concert was fun but too short.

    Great experience musically

by LGA on 10/24/23United Palace - New York

Wasn't sure what to expect this time but it was a great event for fans. Morrissey's voice held up beautifully and he sounded friendly & dare I say - almost happy? He was more mellow than I anticipated. It felt elevating & worthy of being in the moment. The band was strong, even if overpowering his voice at times. Great event! So happy I was part of it.

My 12th time seeing Morrissey!! The crowd was fantastic! Morrissey’s voice has never been better, setlist phenomenal. Would’ve loved for him to do a few more songs, but 19 seems to be what he sticks too. Do not hesitate to buy tickets to see this icon!

    Morrissey remains vibrant and important

by We Need Art on 10/24/23United Palace - New York

After 40 years, Morrissey's voice remains rich and resonant, while his lyrics continue to inspire. This is a living legend, who does not get enough appreciation. Morrissey is a true original, and one of the best writers and crooners around.

    What a night!

by Nelli on 10/22/23The Anthem - Washington

His voice is still absolutely beautiful. This was my first time seeing him live. I travelled to DC from Canada just for this show and I’m so happy I did. The venue was great but the 6 feet gap between the stage and the audience shouldn’t have never been there.
