About

MORRISSEY IN CONCERT:

Stop me if you think you've heard this one before: indie rock hero and consummate dandy Morrissey is back on tour, and fans can expect him to pull no punches as he continues his reign as music's favorite contrarian.  With his outspoken vegetarianism, erudite literary references, and floral self-flagellation, Morrissey became one of pop culture's most notorious and influential figures in the '80s as frontman of beloved alt-rock band the Smiths, and three decades later he's lost none of his piss and vinegar. Whether he's treating audiences to Smiths classics like "This Charming Man," opining on solo favorites like "The Last of the Famous International Playboys," or debuting cuts from 2014's World Peace Is None of Your Business, Morrissey is sure to dazzle with his legendary showmanship and politically-charged sets.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

British-born Steven Patrick Morrissey was an avid consumer of pop and punk from an early age, performing in several Manchester-based bands before forming the Smiths with guitarist Johnny Marr in 1982. After building a considerable following with early singles like "What Difference Does It Make?"  and "This Charming Man," the Smiths released their self-titled 1984 debut LP to a No. 2 spot on the UK Albums Chart. Three more seminal albums would follow, including 1986's The Queen Is Dead, named the "Greatest Album of All Time" in 2013 by NME. Following the dissolution of the Smiths in 1987, Morrissey made his solo debut with 1988's Viva Hate, topping the UK Albums Chart on the strength of hits like "Suedehead" and "Everyday Is Like Sunday." Over the course of nine more studio albums, Morrissey continued to build on the legacy he began with the Smiths, setting expectations high for the 2014 release of World Peace is None of Your Business, his first new album since 2009's Years of Refusal.

    Great concert

by Kk on 10/28/23United Palace - New York

Morrissey came out late but he delivered! Great singer and entertainer. His songs are probably not mainstream but that’s what makes him unique. And his band was just outstanding! Excellent musicians. They delivered the perfect background for Morrissey’s songs.

by Suparni on 10/28/23United Palace - New York

Morrissey put on a 5 star performance every night! I went to all 4 shows in New York and I was left wishing there were more. His voice is in top form and the setlist was excellent. The theater was lovely and I am hoping that he back in town soon.

    Wanted more

by KRA on 10/28/23United Palace - New York

Mozz performed so well…for the time he was out! Abt 1:15 in all. I left saying “that’s it?” At least he didn’t walk out on us, like Dallas 1991…nope I still haven’t forgotten that. And yup, still a fan bc of all the fond memories his music brings up! I think his Las Vegas show July ‘22 was better. United Palace was gorgeous!

    Great show, but...

by TommyMan on 10/28/23United Palace - New York

The venue was awesome, never knew such a beautiful venue existed in Washington Heights. The concert was great, Morrissey sang great, but...the ending, very disappointed. He sang one of his newer songs, the drummer did a solo, then that was it, the show was over - no encore, no dramatic exit at the end, just drummer solo, then lights came on. Odd...

    4Ever Morrissey

by Casey on 10/27/23United Palace - New York

Changes Throughout the years... I have seen Morrissey in concert since the early 90s. As the years have passed by so has he. No more 2 hour concerts, no double returns as people clap and scream his name for another song. No more thanking his fans at the end or says good bye, good night. Still LOVE him. Great choice of songs and look forward to the next concert. I forgot to mention Fans please get up and dance, move around.

excellent performance but way too short

by english man abroad on 10/27/23United Palace - New York

Morrissey was fantastic, the theatre and set was great, however, the performance length was disappointing at less than 1.5 hours. This was not value for money. Ticketmaster also gave no indication what times the doors opened and we had to find this from the venue website, 18:30 pm door open 9 pm on stage and pre 22:30 finish

    The light does go out…

by ReGee217 on 10/27/23United Palace - New York

I love Morrissey. I saw him for the first time on 10/24/23 at the United Palace Theatre. I secured the tickets after he gave a fantastic interview on GDNY. He sounded amazing! We’re there a few hits I wish he played, yes, but overall, it was an amazing show and venue! His exit was a bit abrupt, but it’s Morrissey…that’s to be expected!

    What a bsnd

by Glenn on 10/26/23United Palace - New York

My first Morrissey concert and in NYC as a bonus. I thought the band was one of the more tight ones I heard in a long time. Really good as it’s (for me) was a get go from the start.

Good nostalgic show - on the short side

by Somewhat disappointed fan on 10/25/23United Palace - New York

As a long time fan I was very excited to see Morrissey's show in NYC symbolizing 40 years of Morrisey. While the performance was spotless and featured many of my favorite songs, I was disappointed when the show started late and ended after 75 minutes of glory, which I find sub-standard.
