About the Monster X Tour

The spectacle of motocross meets the brute force of monster truck mayhem in the Monster X Tour, where some of the most famous monster trucks perform stunts and compete against each other for the coveted Monster X Championship. Since 2009, such legendary names in monster trucks as Traxxas X-Maxx, Equalizer, Red Solo Truck, and the one that started it all, Bigfoot, have entertained in stadiums and arenas throughout the United States and the world for the Monster X Tour. Motocross bikers, demolition derbies, and other sideshows complete the program, contributing to a memorable night for all spectators. Monster X Tour events have taken place mainly in the Western US and worldwide, with a show in Hawaii in 2019 and occasional shows nationwide.

Monster X Tour History

Monster trucks first became popular in the late '70s and early '80s with the arrival of Bigfoot, a souped-up Ford F-250 modified by Bob Chandler. After making public appearances at tractor pulls and county fairs, Bigfoot began the monster truck tradition of crushing automobiles in 1981, establishing the iconography of an entire sport and becoming part of American popular culture. The Monster X Tour first began in 2009 and immediately established credibility with the presence of both Bigfoot Racing and Straight Up Racing. Traxxas RC racing sponsored the tour from 2016 to 2018, first as the Traxxas Monster Truck Destruction Tour, and then as the Traxxas Monster Truck Tour.

Monster X events feature several monster truck competitions, including wheelie contests, races and freestyle competitions, which allow these giant machines to do such incredible stunts as hill jumps and even backflips. The tour culminates each year with the Monster X Tour World Finals. In 2019, Ty Cornelius Jr. rode Paul Breaud's Traxxas X-Maxx truck to victory, winning the Monster X Tour championship with an average finishing score of 41.83 points out of a maximum 50.

  • Great freestyle show!

by Justin on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

I thought it was a great Monster Truck Freestyle contest/show. However, maybe should have been titled as such. We here in Hawaii don’t get to see much of this so My family was actually expecting two lanes of car crushing racing. It still was great entertainment! The motorcross freestyle was awesome too, as well as the rally racing.

  • Fun Family event

    by A. S. on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great. The food and drinks had a good variety but expensive. Parking was also a bit outrageous at $16.

  • Awesome!!!!

by Keitfstr on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

The show was amazing. Make sure if you have kids bring ear protection. I love every minute of it. The drivers fees off the crowd so if you want more be loud!

  • Disappointed

by Mike on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 1 out of 5

I almost asked for a full refund for this over-hyped up event. To deal with parking, with the crowd, paying 200% for over-marked items, watch that lame robot car show which you couldn't even understand what it was trying to say and all it did was make was a loud bang at the end to get the audiences attention, that rally car race that wasn't entertaining at all, and 2/3 of the trucks that broke down in the first half of the show, this show needs a major overhaul along with the trucks that broke down! Trucks breaking down as soon as they leave their stall barely trying to make at least 1 run? I can understand that things break, but that many trucks at one time? Unbelievable. Luckily the track layout as lame as it was, wasn't any more rugged or the trucks wouldn't have even made half a pass! It was definitely 3/4 a waste of time for the night and it felt dragged out. It was obvious the announcer was trying to stall while these broken trucks that barely even made a run got towed away by a tractor. The announcer was deafening and couldn't wait until he stopped talking. This was supposed to be a professional event, I didn't come to see this mess and here are my kids are asking what's wrong with these trucks? Luckily the motorcycle guys brought up my kids' spirits with their entertaining act. But I didn't bring my kids to watch the motorcycles, we came to watch the trucks! The end of the show didn't even feel like it was the end of the show. Poorly laid out event, no way reached my expectations, and overall I wasn't impressed. I think I that the 12 and 16 year old drivers of those trucks could've planned a better show? Kudo's to the motorcycle guys for their awesome act and the Double Trouble truck for making that awesome backflip! Like I said in the beginning I was seriously thinking about getting a full refund for this show but you guys can keep it. Use it to help fix all those broken trucks so no one has to see this kind of show again!

  • It was cool

by Lisa on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed it. Extreme bikers were great. Trucks spinning, flipping and those close calls were exciting.

  • It was awesome

by Ikaika on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

It was totally insane . I was so excited before it even started. When it stared I was feeling the power on the Monster truck. I was shocked to hear there was a 12 years driver. I have say he was ripping in on the course. Hope you come back again. So I can meet the drivers and take pictures with the truck. The best part Wes when they had two truck to flips.

  • Great show..! My son loved it..!! Come back soon..!!

    by G. S. on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

Brought back memories from the past.. three generations attended the event.. me my dad and my son.. one issue is that the show started late so we had the leave early.. other than that it was a good show..

  • To Many Long Lines

by MamaofONE on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 3 out of 5

The amount of lines we had to stand in was ridiculous. Just to get into the stadium took all most an hour. The food lines were over an hour. Everything was over priced. The show was alright. I felt like it dragged on way too long. The motocross part was the most exciting. I wouldn't go again unless they did a show Friday, Saturday and Sunday to spread out how many people were there making the lines more manageable. Trying to get your 5 yr old to wait in multiple 45min - our an hour lines was miserable.

  • Awesome!

by Puna on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

Very entertaining for all ages! Just one problem hard to hear the announcer when the trucks are running and maybe have one more big screen,

  • Not Bad, Not Amazing

    by A. S. on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 3 out of 5

The trucks are amazing and what the drivers can do is great. You can tell they have fun and I will not discredit their talent because I myself would be terrified to handle a machine that huge. It was fun watching them while they performed. Now this is based off someone who has no experience in monster truck shows. The show overall was just ok. I didn't realize how much down time there is between every set. I understand though, some of the trucks were having mechanical issues (especially since we saw the second show) but so much so that there were a good 2-5 min downtime between each truck. Can you imagine being amazed for about 60 seconds and then having to wait 2-5 minutes for the next truck to do its thing? There were 10 monster trucks, 11 including the 12 year old boy. So the show ran on very long. The half time show was so lackluster. The machine cars were cool but again, too slow of a show for an event that's supposed to be loud and crazy. The sound system was horrible but that could be Aloha Stadium's fault who knows. But no one could understand the MC and when he would interview whoever won it was so muffled it just sounded like noise. The music was too low so no way to get pumped. Our show started 20 minutes late and I heard it wasn't finished until about 1045pm. We wouldn't know because we left early. There were still about 5 more trucks to perform their last rounds. All in all it was great while the trucks were performing. But if you put it all together of actual show time we had about 30 minutes of fun and the rest were downtime or half time shows. Showing the motocross was great fun! My kids fave parts. If the tour could find more interactive or fun things to do during down times so we're not just watching a forklift pull a truck for 5 minutes. And if they could find a better half time show I think it would be worth it. But paying almost $200 for tickets this show was not worth it to me. But I do know this was their first show here in Hawai'i. I'm not sure if its their first time back in a long time or their first time ever so I know there's room for improvement. Mahalo for what was given though. My kids enjoyed themselves but by 10pm they were asking to go home.

  • Super Monster X Tour!

    by Nathan T. on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

Sirs, My wife and I attended the latest Monster X Tour and Pit Party at Aloha Stadium, we want to hand it to you, great job! We thoughly enjoyed ourselves, especially when the trucks took the field! There was one area in which we were both disappointed, and that was the coverage of the playing surface to build the racing area, it was to small. The racing area should have been twice the size, to make more room for the Monster Trucks to really let loose and give a better show for the paying attendees. Otherwise great show, after 20 years away!

  • Was a fun night

by Luvs Ramos on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

The show was amazing, the pit pass was ok, it was really hot, with no where down on the field to purchase water or shade. The lines were long, it took 2 hours to ride a monster truck in which it costs $20 per person for a 3 minute ride. My family and I had a great time though. We would come again but just for the show.

  • Amazing show!

    by A. S. on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

Drivers really put on a great show! Although pit pass was crowded...we enjoyed every part of this event. Tally cars, robots & motor cross were exciting also. Only 2 trucks standing at the end of the event!! I'd definitely go again!

  • My first time

by It was alright. on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 3 out of 5

I wasn’t happy about the setup. I don’t think they had enough of tricks. There trucks broke down a lot. Some of them didn’t have enough time to do there stuff. We went on saturday. We switched tickets with someone because we wanted to go with friends who went on saturday. It was exciting but I think the show could of been way better especially since there was no monster tour in ages. I’m 41 this year and since my time here I have never been to one. My personal experience, was okay. It was really hyping me up because of the sounds of the trucks. The show was so/so. I would go again, hope next show delivers the best show ever.

  • Aloha!

    by 1Love on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

The only thing that came across as a surprise was the fee they charged in order to ride a monster truck. I read thru everything before purchasing a Pit Party pass for my family of 8 & I never came across the fee we had to pay, I figured it was included for free (unless I misread it somehow). Other than that, my family & I had good fun!!! Sun was scorching & we were sweating like crazy but it was worth it! #MONSTERXTOUR2019

  • Monster Jam Aloha Stadium 2019

by gmkhawaii on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 3 out of 5

It was OK, expected to see the trucks race each other......a little more smashing of the cars. Having TEN vehicles do "donuts" gets a little boring when ALL are doing the same thing. maybe adding a truck or two doing a long distance jump over some cars would have been nice, a 4/5 vehicle "demolition derby" thrown in there...NOT with monster trucks but regular vehicles. The motorcycle riders stunts were cool, maybe a short motorcycle race using the TRUCK mounds already there would have been GREAT to see. .....

  • Awesome 👏🏼

by Barb on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 4 out of 5

If my grandkids enjoyed it was well worth every minute! We especially like the tricks the motorcycles did

  • great show, had fun

by JJ on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 5 out of 5

the show was great, but the prices for food and drinks was crazy expensive, more expensive than any airport around I think, but the show with the trucks, rally racing, and motocross was great to watch

  • Slow entertainment

    by M. C. on 5/8/19Aloha Stadium - HonoluluRating: 2 out of 5

This just seemed like it wasn’t a seemless transition between events . It was good when they were going but waiting between and the intermission was ridiculous and not what was expected . I wasn’t wowed that much. Won’t attend event again.
