MOGWAI IN CONCERT:

Scotland-based post-rock band Mogwai have been enchanting audiences for nearly 20 years with their ambient instrumentals and guitar-driven sound. At their mesmerizing live performances they play their down-tempo hits with precision and ease, vibing off each other beneath tranquil projected images that perfectly compliment their experimental sonic environments. Whether they’re playing new tracks from their 2014 release Rave Tapes or treating fans to old classics like “Auto Rock,” Mogwai are sure to leave fans awestruck on their upcoming world tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

School friends Stuart Braithwaite, Dominic Aitchison, and Martin Bulloch got together to form Mogwai in 1995, naming their band after the furry characters in the film Gremlins. The Scotland natives released their debut album Mogwai Young Team two years later, introducing listeners to their signature instrumental sound. Since then, the post-rock band has released eight studio albums including 2014's Rave Tapes, which peaked on the Scottish charts at No. 2 -- their highest charting album yet. Mogwai are constantly expanding their repertoire with new projects -- whether they're collaborating with Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol) or composing soundtrack music for the film Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, they never fail to present their music in a unique way. Mogwai won't disappoint as they share their hit-filled sets with eager fans on a string of upcoming tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Mogwai several times and they get better every time! They really give fans an experience with improvisations of some of their best songs. This band is a must-see. Very inspiring concert!"

"Their sound was absolutely amazing and their set list incorporated the perfect amount of songs from each of their albums. I would see Mogwai again in a heartbeat!"

"These dudes are a sonic force of nature. Mogwai sound great and their playing is incredible. Great show."

    Awesome concert

The opening band Errors as well as Mogwai themselves totally rocked!

Errors drummer played for both Errors and Mogwai sets. Incredible sound and great venue; that being said after being at the Palladium a few nights prior. Friendly staff as well. Good idea separating the 21+ crowd as well, plus the kids still got to jump around in front of the stage.

    An unforgettable experience

by whydoweneednicknames on 5/13/11The Mayan Theater - Los Angeles

This was, bar none, the best show I have ever been to. I was dealing with several personal problems coming into it, so I was bumming out the whole way there. However, I couldn't have been in a better place for the experience: by the time they finished "Mogwai Fear Satan," I was sobbing—it was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. I left the venue completely purged. This will definitely stay with me for the rest of my life.

    Mogwai

by Jasdev on 5/13/11Mayan Theater - Los Angeles

Mogwai @ the Mayan,- it was surprisingly heavy with more dirty guitars than what I am accustomed to of Mogwai. This is not your dippity-do-relaxing music gig- I actually had my ears ring till the next day. It could probally speak more off the Mayan soundsystem speakers than Mogwai itself, but it was really what I was expecting of Mogwai - to have an epiphany.

MOGWAI and their opener were great. I got what I expected there. But note to The Mayan: my ears have been ringing for two days since the show, and I have definitely experienced hearing damage. TURN. IT. DOWN. I did not pay you money so I could lose my hearing.

I love scotland's Mogwai and Errors

by MogwaiFan1 on 5/12/11The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

Best show I have ever been to. There was no bar separating the stage and crowd. We were all one big blob awaiting to be amazed. And let me say that this band raised the bar! This is what music is all about. Putting on a good show, minus the bias babble of mindwashing crap just bc you have a microphone. People come to see a show, not a circus, and mogwai was the illest, most down to earth, humble and passionate artisans that I have ever come in contact with. Highly recommended to those who enjoy their tracks, and to those whom need inspiration. Stewart definitely spread the passion off of his strums and sweat on us the scenic love of glasgow's landscape. I definitely left a million times happier than when I arrived.

Mogwai was really good, but not like last time.

by nicthedude on 5/12/11The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

Although Mogwai's performance at the Regency Grand Ballroom in SF was strong, I must say that I was not as impressed as their former show at the same location. The light show was weaker this time around, and the music was from their newest album (primarily), but in my opinion, they didn't play enough of their old, great songs. Their energy was good and the music was very loud, but on the whole, I was more impressed last time when I went a couple of years ago. Still worth the money though. I recommend it.

    Brilliant

I almost missed this show due to a late flight. After leaving the Mayan - I realized I had just seen the best concert I've been to since Radiohead.

    Mogwai=TIGHT!

by RodThunder on 5/12/11Mayan Theater - Los Angeles

One of the best aural experiences I've had at a concert. Mogwai sounded fantastic and despite the disappointment with the Mayan Theatre, the acoustics were good. Great show, venue left a lot to be desired.

FUCKING AMAZING. Mogwai blew me away with their beautiful distortion and powerful sound. This show was heavier than I expected it to be, which was such a nice surprise. The only thing I wish they had done differently is play a bit more of their older stuff but I get that the theme of their new album is that heavy sound. And I also can't say shit because I fucking loved the live rendition of Mogwai Fear Satan, in all its distorted glory. In the end, hard core is definitely NOT DEAD, but I think my ears might be.

    Unique experience...

by JayTeee on 5/12/11Mayan Theater - Los Angeles

Being a long time Mogwai fan, this was my first live experience. All I can say is WOW! The live performance surpassed all expectations. They are so talented with a unique sound. They capture your undivided attention and blow you away. Saw them @ The Mayan Theater, which an interesting place. The sound system and the light system were spot on. I guess people in LA are not too hip on Mogwai because it didn't look sold out. It was packed but I don't think sold out. Will see them again anytime!

The Good: Slower tunes, atmospheric jams, drummer, lights, movies in the backround, loud The Bad: Louder songs got lost in the mix, Songs with vocals, loud
