MOGWAI IN CONCERT:

Scotland-based post-rock band Mogwai have been enchanting audiences for nearly 20 years with their ambient instrumentals and guitar-driven sound. At their mesmerizing live performances they play their down-tempo hits with precision and ease, vibing off each other beneath tranquil projected images that perfectly compliment their experimental sonic environments. Whether they’re playing new tracks from their 2014 release Rave Tapes or treating fans to old classics like “Auto Rock,” Mogwai are sure to leave fans awestruck on their upcoming world tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

School friends Stuart Braithwaite, Dominic Aitchison, and Martin Bulloch got together to form Mogwai in 1995, naming their band after the furry characters in the film Gremlins. The Scotland natives released their debut album Mogwai Young Team two years later, introducing listeners to their signature instrumental sound. Since then, the post-rock band has released eight studio albums including 2014's Rave Tapes, which peaked on the Scottish charts at No. 2 -- their highest charting album yet. Mogwai are constantly expanding their repertoire with new projects -- whether they're collaborating with Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol) or composing soundtrack music for the film Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, they never fail to present their music in a unique way. Mogwai won't disappoint as they share their hit-filled sets with eager fans on a string of upcoming tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Their sound was absolutely amazing and their set list incorporated the perfect amount of songs from each of their albums. I would see Mogwai again in a heartbeat!"

Is that my heart or the bass?

by MLemon on 6/18/12Webster Hall - New York

After arriving about 40 minutes late, I walked up the stairs of Webster to encounter the epic sounds of Mogwai bleeding into the hallway. The crowd was mixed, and seemed to be standing there in awe. The bass was so heavy at times that it felt hard to discern heartbeat from bass. Heavy strobe lights and the wall of sound made for a very intense experience.

    Mogwai...great as usual

by DB64 on 6/18/12Webster Hall - New York

Mogwai rocks- I know some people don't like the new stuff (which they played quite a bit of the two times I saw them on this tour), but it's all good to me. The only thing that stops this from being a 5-star for me was the venue. Apparently, there are two concert halls in the same building, so the volume was cranked way down, which takes something away from a Mogwai show. In contrast, in Philadelphia, they had the Marshall stacks lined up from one end of the stage to the other, and they shook the whole building. I just hope they play somewhere else the next time they come to New York. Other than that, great show....

    Absolutely incredible.

by AnonymousIII on 6/18/12Webster Hall - New York

After two canceled dates and over 14 months of waiting, I finally got the chance to see Mogwai and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Their sound was absolutely amazing and their setlist incorporated the perfect amount of songs from each of their albums. I will say that if you do plan on going to see them, you should bring earplugs. I wore them and my ears still rang the next day and I can't imagine if I didn't. Overall, I would see Mogwai again in a heartbeat. Also, the opening act was absolutely terrible, and judging by the audiences response to his performance, it was mutual sentiment.

    LOUD

by Oley on 6/17/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Like really loud. I mean I probably shouldn't have stood 3 rows back in front of the speaker stage right. I probably shouldn't have forgotten my earplugs in the car. And I probably shouldn't have gotten so stoned that I forgot to move when I thought to myself "You know...this is a little ridiculous. Your hair is blowing back". With all that said Mogwai kicked ass. These dudes are a sonic force of nature. They sound great and the high range they play in and hold for a consistent level without sounding muddy is incredible. Great show. The venue was cool too. Another one off the LA checklist.

    Mogwai at Webster Hall

by dimthingshine on 6/17/12Webster Hall - New York

These guys are reserved on stage (except for Steve) but you would never think that from the emotional energy they produce on stage. It was great to be up front as well. Two Thumbs Up!

    Mogwai in NYC was WEAK

by MCRG on 6/17/12Webster Hall - New York

So disappointed. They played for a little over an hour, were off the stage before 10pm. It was ridiculous. I expected a huge makeup concert since they cancelled their last two attempts at coming to NYC. It was weak, completely and utterly. I left disappointed.

    SO LOUD.

by gnarwhax on 6/17/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Yeah that's pretty much it. Great show, but loud to a point where it became really hard to pay attention to the music because I was trying to stuff my hands in my ears.

    As always, perfect performance

by AbbasElTihish on 6/15/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Two songs shy of the break before the oncore, my girlfriend tells me that here bones are hurting. Apparantly, she wasn't exposed to loud music. We drifted to the Patio and continued watching the show from the plastic grass flooring bumming cigarettes from people around us. After the break, I went in and continued the show. They played the basic hits from the early days through the new album.

    Not sure what to say...

by MoMoneyCMoney on 6/14/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

I wasn't a Mogwai fan before, and I wasn't sold A lot of dudes head bobbing. Was instrumental music with serious distortion and extremely loud. Abrasively so.

    Mogwai

by Cranke on 6/11/12Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Awesome venue, awesome band. Mogwai appears to truly enjoy and embrace their art, and delivered a phenomenal performance. Center Stage was an excellent venue,,,,good for people that want to sit an enjoy a performance as opposed to standing in front of the main stage.

    FIRE THAT SOUND MAN ! ! !

by Y0y0dyne on 6/11/12Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Mogwai is an amazing band and I was really looking forward to seeing them again. The sound was so bad nearly left in the middle of the show. There is such a thing as too loud and that idiot found it in spades. My ears are still ringing / bleeding.

    Worth the wait

by webjamm on 5/26/11Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

I had been waiting on this show for a while as they rarely get to the US. Their drummer was out with family business, but their opening band "Errors" drummer sat in and did a fine job. I look forward to their next show and I will probably travel quite a distance to see them if I have to.

    If you like Mogwai.......

by Lesistheman on 5/25/11Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Then this is the show for you!!!!! Being a Mogwai fan for close to 10 years now, I had extrodinarily high expectations from this show. ANd I was not let down. The venue was great, and had friendly staff. The impromptu decition to include Errors as an opener was a welcome addition as well. Both bands did what they do best exceptionaly well. Mogwai's set list ranged the entirty of thier catalouge, with highlights for me being "Your Lionel Ritchie", "I Know you are, but What am I?", "Rano Pano" and "Catbat". I would go see the exact same show again if it were possible. 15 stars!!!!!!!

Fantastic concert, I would definitely see them again. Errors, the opening band, was also very good.
