MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET ON TOUR:

Hot on the heels of its Broadway run, rock and roll musical Million Dollar Quartet is on the road to tell the story of the fateful meeting between Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash at an impromptu jam session in December of 1956. The musical focuses on these newcomers before they became icons, gathered for a rare collaboration at Sun Studios in Memphis. The cast brilliantly portrays the original performers while playing each timeless track with perfection and ease. Million Dollar Quartet will have fans all shook up this summer with their red-hot 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Million Dollar Quartet tells the story of four Southern rock legends who unexpectedly came together in 1956 for a very spontaneous recording session at Sun Studios. Since its 2007 premiere, the electrifying production has graced theaters across the US, landing on Broadway in 2010 for an acclaimed year-long run. Nominated for three Tony Awards including Best Musical, Million Dollar Quartet transports audiences back in time to the golden age of rock and roll with an iconic collection of hits that will leave fans feeling like a million bucks.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

No holding back during the matinee!!!

by TrishD on 12/19/15Apollo Theater - Chicago

You sometimes think that a mid week matinee may not have the artist's full effort. Not with this performance! The understudy played Elvis so convincingly, that you wondered how the usual artist could have done better. Have wanted to see this for years, but the distance and location held us back. The venue is intimate and well worth the trip from the Southwest suburbs; even if the rush hour traffic home was a nightmare. We would do this again. The staff who work at this theater are warm and welcoming. The woman from the box office even came out to assist us with parking since we were early for the valet. To describe in one word: WONDERFUL.

    Million Dollar Quartet

by PianoPlinker on 12/15/15Apollo Theater - Chicago

I had been waiting a long time to see this show, and the announcement that it was closing in January motivated me to finally do it. The talent on stage was mostly excellent - and really captured the mannerisms and style of the legendary personalities they took on. The musicians who played Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins were simply superb. Kudos to the supporting cast - the female vocalist and gents playing bass and drums were outstanding. The fellow who played the record producer was top notch as well. Only weak point: sound. The louds were too loud, and levels during the soft parts (e.g. regular dialogue) was way too low.

    The presentation was flawless!!

by Simio on 12/12/15Apollo Theater - Chicago

I was invited by my son who paid the tickets for my wife and me. I don't normally attend to this type of shows but well he paid so I was "manipulated" to take sometime and attend. I was really not interested, very upset because I felt manipulated by my Son. The Show was awesome. The performance, the actors, the light, the sound, everything was incredible. There were times that I could not hold my tears. It was like being in a time machine! Going back to our younger days. This was one of the best experiences in our lives. My wife was dancing and almost jumping from her seat. And yes, I did talk to our son, he didn't know I was upset with him for "wasting" $150.00. So I thank him for his interest because he knew something I didn't. Remembrances are priceless. Thanks for the experience,

Greatest Jerry Lee I have seen!

by PnkFlmngo on 12/8/15Apollo Theater - Chicago

I was lucky enough to see MDQ for the 5th time on December 2 (matinee). I have seen it 4 times at the Apollo in Chicago and once on tour in Indy. Over the 6 years since I first saw the show I have seen many different performers and the quality never changes! I always worry that the quality will deteriorate because the "good ones" are out on tour. Nothing could be further from the truth. This past week was just as magical as the first time I saw it and I love it more each time I see it. The only difference that I would like to comment on was the performance by Colte Julian in the role of Jerry Lee Lewis. Wow. I have never seen anyone perform that role as well as he did. Of course all the Jerry Lees have been great but Colte Julian was stupendous. He totally captured it. All of the others were as wonderful as always and never fail to give it more than 100%. My only regret is that I won't be able to see it again before it closes. Thank you to all of the performers over the past 6 years of my attendance. I love you all.

    Great time and performance

    by Bandguy55 on 12/5/15Apollo Theater - Chicago

As a retired music teacher/director and pro musician since the seventies I saw some excellent live musicianship in this show. The acting was very convincing and just a lot of energetic fun. We had just been to Sunn Studio in Memphis a month before - made the show even more memorable. Thanks to all the performers and background folks for a really great time! Never had been to the Apollo Theater - nice, cozy atmosphere for this kind of performance!

    Go Jerry Lee!

by baysiders on 12/1/15Apollo Theater - Chicago

The musicians were greatly talented, especially Jerry Lee Lewis. Piano playing was out of this world. Truly another Jerry Lee! Johnny Cash sounded like him. Elvis had all the moves! Hard for me to remember Carl Perkins real well to compare alot, but he was a good guitarist. Weren't aware of the story behind them all & Sun records. A pleasure to drive in from Wi. on Sun. afternoon & be able to park on the street for FREE!
