What is the Miami Open?

The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament held annually in March in Miami, Florida that draws some of the top tennis talent on the men's and women's tours. Also known as the Miami Masters, it is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour. The tennis event is held at Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL's Miami Dolphins play among other events. It was previously held at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne just off the coast of Miami.

The event moved to Hard Rock Stadium after over $500 million was spent in renovations, including a new tennis campus featuring 29 permanent tournament and practice courts as well as additional food and entertainment facilities. The 14,000-seat center court within Hard Rock Stadium is designed for intimacy, luxury and a comfortable fan experience. A state-of-the-art in-stadium shade canopy and the largest video board in tennis offers a luxury seating experience.

    Room for improvement

by Pat on 4/2/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

I've gone to the Miami Open every year since it moved there from Key Biscayne (where I attended for about 15 years).. The good points are that the players are top notch. Also, the grounds and outside amenities are great. Unfortunately, regarding the main stadium, putting a tennis match into part of a football stadium is not ideal, and it shows it. And, if the Miami Open wants to be really big time, it has to put large, digital scoreboards on the Grandstand court and on the Butch Buchholz court. But we had a great time overall, and will certainly return next year.

Not enough shade in common areas, messy parking

by Pamela on 4/2/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

The event itself was great, the best players, great matches, and impressive stadium. Can improve the common areas where the food was adding more shade, the sun was terrible and couldn’t hang out to eat, some restaurants ran out of food and the options were limited. Uber pick up area was very organized the first day, then was a mess, should have kept the order.

First Time Tennis Experience was Great

by GP on 4/2/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

Cool venue, excellent selection of food and drink sponsors. Departure traffic could have been more organized. But to the tennis! Two great days of tennis. Would come again if I had the opportunity.

    Disappointing

by Derek on 4/1/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

I am go to tennis events all over the world. to have a ATP 1000 in a make up half stadium inside a football stadium is ridiculous. terrible seats, limited atmosphere, the outside space not at an ATP 1000 level. Should have remained where it used to be. and it sold out then. not it does not. says it all. and then to charge what you charge for the parking..... will never go again.

    President

by CT on 4/1/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

The experience was very good. The ease of access and the value was also very good. The vendors had plenty to offer in merchandise and food and beverages. The overall experience was excellent and will return next year.

    Better at crandon park

by Maritime Mark on 4/1/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

The Miami open was ok at Hard Rock but it lacks the feel of a tennis tournament. Between the race track being up and the football stadium you do not get the feel that you are at a tennis tournament. Crandon Park was more like being at tennis.

    Miami Open

by Tisha Russ on 3/30/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

I visited for the first time in my life in 2022 and realized how much I liked tennis. This year’s vibe however was so much better. There were so many more areas to sit and relax in cabana like settings in the beautiful weather. I can not wait to go back next year.

    Excellent experience

by Paul from MA on 3/30/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

My second year in a row at the tournament, traveling with tennis/golf buddies for four days. We were there for two evening sessions, including some excellent late afternoon matches, and one day session. Seeing (almost) all top men and women is great. Getting to see many very top players in a not-too-large court (grandstand) is my favorite part. The stadium is an ok venue, I still have nostalgia for the Key Biscayne stadium (three times, many years ago). But everything else about the Hard Rock venue is very nice now, some good food choices on the grounds (not as good in the stadium). Throw in a couple of days for golf, getting out of the cold, and it's a great overall experience.

Great place for high quality tennis

by mikeabw on 3/30/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

It's a great venue. Parking is easy in and easy out. Tennis quality is top notch. Food is expensive. Water is $6 a bottle!

Love tennis so loved the experience

by Mep on 3/30/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

Everything was great but not the food. It was not tasty at all and very but very expensive. There should be the option of having tap water or water fillers all around the place and not only at the stadium bathrooms, people were fainting because they didn’t hidrate enough since a bottle of water costs $10…

    Great Tennis Difficult Venue

by Friedmantbo on 3/30/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

The tennis was great. The facility and operations were disappointing. To start with, the walk to parking is very long. This was physically challenging and there was no option. The signage in the parking lot makes it very difficult to get back to your car. I knew which section I was in but it was difficult to find that section. Be prepared for a long wait to exit. Getting out of the parking lot was an ordeal for me and all the other drivers in uncoordinated lines. In addition, exiting the stadium or going to the bathroom was a challenge for us because our exit was blocked by staff to allow players to cross the hallway (for an ordinately long time). It is unreasonable to ask a crowd to stand for 15 or 20 minutes to wait for the players to cross the hall to get to a bathroom or get out of the stadium without climbing two flights of stairs. I feel that the Hard Rock is just a terrible venue. It is tough to get around and walking distances are ridiculous.

    Need better communication

by Tw on 3/30/24Hard Rock Stadium - Miami

Tickets said 11am, matches didn’t start til 1pm. Bought parking passes, we were told there was no handicap parking in the lot we were in until after we were in line with other cars for over 30minutes. We did go to the match and were very happy with our seats and the match we saw, however bathrooms were quite a ways from our seats. There needs to be better communication regarding start time, parking, and access to restrooms. Not everyone who enjoys tennis is under 40!
