Miami Hurricanes Football History
The Miami Hurricanes are a college football powerhouse with five national championships, nine conference titles and over 40 bowl game appearances, including six high-profile Orange Bowl wins. Founded in 1926, the Miami Hurricanes were independent for much of their existence until the team joined the Big East in 1991. Since 2004, Miami has been a part of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Hurricanes rosters have featured future Pro Football Hall of Famers such as quarterback Jim Kelly, wide receivers Michael Irvin and Andre Johnson, center Jim Otto, safety Ed Reed, linebacker Ray Lewis and defensive tackles Warren Sapp and Cortez Kennedy. Miami has also fielded two Heisman Trophy winners, quarterbacks Vinny Testaverde in 1986 and Gino Torretta in 1992. Several of Miami's most successful head coaches, including Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson, went on to coach in the NFL.
The Hurricanes have played in several of college football's greatest games. On New Year's Day 1984, Miami cemented its first of five national championships by defeating the heavily favored Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Orange Bowl. The team secured their second national title in 1987 with an undefeated season that culminated in the Hurricanes dominating the Oklahoma Sooners in the Orange Bowl. In November 1991, Miami won the “Wide Right I” game against Florida State after the Seminoles' kicker missed a game-winning field goal and advanced to the Orange Bowl, where they shut out the Cornhuskers.
The Hurricanes have in-state rivalries with the University of Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles as well as heated intra-division opposition from Virginia Tech. The feud between Miami and Florida State, which dates back to 1951, has been particularly fierce since the ’80s, as the two teams have taken turns spoiling each other's championship aspirations. During seasons when all three Florida teams play against one another, the squad with the most wins takes home the Florida Cup.

I enjoyed the game very much! Everyone was super nice to eachother and the people in general were great. I would definitely go again! :)
It was fun but would have been much better if we won!
I traveled from Cincinnati Ohio to Miami to experience the game. The atmosphere was great and the fans were outstanding. I felt like i fit in right away. The stadium was awesome and the game was awesome. The only thing that could have been better is if the 'Canes pulled out a victory. Either way I will for sure go back using ticket master.
the game was exciting except for the ending being a cane fan. disappointed in the crowd turnout. miami fans don't get too excited about acc teams unless we are very good. the pricing of the club seats are high so they are usually empty. while sun life is a great place to watch football ,it might be to big for the um games.
Always a great time at Sun Life Stadium, great view from the seats.
A great time was had by all. The facility is excellent. Parking was a breeze. Tailgating was a blast. The crowd was engaged but well behaved. I had to give 4 out of 5 because the Canes lost, but it was a good game.
Had a great time..It was my 21st b-day and got to go see my favorite team play.
Fun game. Seats were good. Hokies played spendidly. Indeed.
We had a good time at the game. Unfortunately, the fans would not sit down, the tailgaters completely trashed the parking lot, and the announcer was BORING.
We could of and should of had that game! Kudos to the Hokies...I think the season was on their side...after all it is Thanksgiving week and "turkey" is the flavor of the week! Sun Life is always a great venue and being surrounded by Canes fans...what can be better! We had a blast!!! C-A-N-E-S!!!!
Had a wonderful time at the game with the exception of a couple of rude fans and the loss of course!
Section we were in (130) is the worst section I have sat in in the 20+ years of going to UM football games. EVERYONE stood during the entire game - which meant if you wanted to watch the game on the field you had to stand up also. Many calls from MANY people to "SIT DOWN" fell on deaf ears. AVOID SECTION 130 the rudest semi-humans on the planet! Also - people smoking and texts to stadium helpline (as they encourage us to do in cases like this) went unanswered.
50 yard line seats in the 6th row in South Florida, just an awesome experience for sure.
Had an amazing time at this game. The crowsd was great and we enjoyed the seats.
First time ever going to a collge game, and i loved it....
Tailgating was amazing...everyone has a good time. Parking is much better than the Dolphins seeing as you can get alot closer. We did our homework and chose tickets on the shaded side so we were set from the sun. The Fans were great where we were and all in all it was a good game. cons - The canes lost :(...more fans should have come to support their team...the lines for the Will call and the gates were long and slow. They really need to invest in those Will Call ATMs were all you need is to put your CC in and you get your tickets out. Getting out of the stadium stinks too. But those were a bit moinor in the grand scheme of things as I loved it, will be back again next year.
The seats were great The crowd was friendly Will definatly go again
Great comeback win for the rookie qb. Great game overall!
EASILY BOUGHT TICKETS, GREAT SEATS AND GREAT GAME!
parking to to expensive great event overall. need better cordination on parking to get in faster
