Wonderful show

MAT KEARNEY IN CONCERT:
Contemporary Christian rocker Mat Kearney has enthralled fans of inspirational and secular music alike with his unique blend of rock, pop, and hip hop. Kearney's emotional tunes are regularly featured on TV dramas like Grey's Anatomy and Kyle XY, and it's easy to see why -- his live performances reveal him to be a deeply spiritual soul whose heart-wrenching songs hold universal appeal. Whether he's crooning along to the acoustic strumming of "Breathe In Breathe Out" or kicking things up a notch with the hip hop-influenced "Ships in the Night", Kearney is a passionate and dynamic performer who always connects with fans on his must-see tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Mat Kearney was born in Eugene, OR, but it wasn't until he attended college in Chico, CA that he discovered his passion for music. Following a trip to Nashville, Kearney picked up his roommate's guitar and begin plucking out tunes, and before long he was performing at local coffee shops. He linked up with producer Robert Marvin, and together they moved to Nashville and recorded Kearney's 2004 debut album Bullet. The record attracted the attention of execs at Columbia Records, who signed the budding singer just in time for the release of his 2006 sophomore album Nothing Left to Lose. That record was a hit, peaking at No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and receiving placement in several major TV shows. Kearney's next album, 2009's City of Black & White, topped the Christian Albums chart, and in 2011 he topped both the Christian chart and Top Rock Albums chart with his fourth album Young Love. An inspiring and emotional performer known for his soulful voice, Kearney continues to treat ticket buyers to passionate and moving shows on tour.
The show was fantastic. It did start a half hour late for some reason, but once it got going it was wonderful. The venue was outstanding, not a bad seat in the house.
He was fantastic as always! And I love the Riviera theatre! Would definitely go back!
Mat made the night amazing. Sound was super in this old theater. Perfect setting. What a great start to his tour. Loved every minute of it.
Mat Kearney is great. All great songs, great sound and lights. Great venue also. The only not so good was the audience and the expensive food
The National Parks are one of the best under-known performing musical artists I've ever seen. The Fillmore is novelty; an absolutely legendary venue that is comfortable and accessible. Don't know or care who Mat Kearney, he was underwhelming so I left after the TNP. Would return to the Fillmore again 9/10 times.
Mat Kearney was amazing. Truly enjoyed the concert at my favorite concert venue on earth.
Let me begin by saying that I love Mat Kearney's voice, and the low rating has nothing to do with him. The experience itself was just not what I was hoping for. Perhaps it was the acoustics at the Moore Theatre. Whatever the reason, the amplitude of the speakers was unbearable. As soon as the opening act started up, my ears were in so much pain that had it not been for a pair of earplugs I had in my purse, I would not have been able to stand more than a few minutes. Even with the earplugs, it was uncomfortably loud. It was probably the most unenjoyable concert I've ever attended. His music is not rock music, so I'm not sure why the amps were set up like that.
One of my favorite recording artists and did not disappoint. Musical abilities were amazing. For such a small show he kept the entertainment going. I was blown away by his storytelling and charisma. Well done Mat!
Small and personal venue was fabulous. He played all the old favorites and some new work. His energy is great and I will keep these memories a long time.
Mat Kearney is EXCELLENT in this venue... he sounds so wonderful live and he interacted with the San Diego crowd often during the show. I would highly recommend staying at Humphrey's for everything... we loved our room and the tropical environment right outside our patio doors.. the tiki torches, piped in music, colorful foliage and birds all added to the island-like vibe. We enjoyed cocktails and a delicious crab cake in the lounge, followed by an amazing concert-menu dinner... absolutely NOTHING disappointed us! The venue is friendly, well-stocked with fun beverages, and we even got free ponchos to protect us in the rain (btw... Mat Kearney says we don't know what real rain is LOL). I can't say enough... the weekend exceeded all of our expectations and we will be checking out the concert line up for 2023. Again... the PACKAGE DEAL (dinner, hotel, concert) is the way to go.
I expected a great coffee shop style concert and discovered that Mat is a great entertainer too. He’s authentic and engaging. He lets the moment develop and doesn’t over control the audience. Lots of fun interaction between he and the crowd. Enjoyed January Flower as he has returned to his style that makes him one of my favorite artists
Mat sounded amazing! He engaged with the crowd and is a great performer. It really was an amazing show!!!
Matt Kearney was amazing. Great storyteller and musician. Enjoyed the show!
Of course I expected a great performance, but I assumed it would be a very mellow show. Mat and his band put-on a high-energy event along with an amazing opening act. He performed a long show with a lot of personal stories added in. They certainly catered to and connected with Sacramento fans. 100% Fabulous Experience.
I loved the VIP experience. I already love Mat Kearney's music, but it was really a once-in-a-lifetime type experience that made the whole show more impactful. The show itself was incredible, the energy and intimate feel being in a smaller venue was so enjoyable.
Mat Kearney is one of my favorite artists. His live shows are full of energy and fun. He did a great cover of "You Can Call Me Al" and "Dancing In The Dark."
The opening act, National Parks, exhibited a tremendous amount of energy and some pretty good musicianship. They really got the crowd going and are worth seeing whenever you get the opportunity...especially if you like bands that sound like the Lumineers. Mat's show was excellent and he is super affable and really related well with the audience. He really seemed like a guy that would be great to have a beer with and trade stories. Musically, it was Nashville sound all over the place. The arrangements were excellent and the musicianship was top notch. I feel the keyboardist was most impressive...although all band members really complimented each other well. Venue... When purchasing tickets, I believe it would be beneficial if Ticketmaster took time to indicate that seating was available. The GA2 and GA4 designations are ambiguous and a better description would be nice. Draft beer selection was really poor and they need to step up their game there. It was pricey but not catastrophic. The higher pricing really keeps crowds in check and the crowd was a bunch of really nice people! The staffing for the Ace of Spades were outstanding. Security was present but not oppressive. It felt like a well oiled machine. We will definitely return once they improve their BEER!!! Great mixed drink selection and helpful bartenders. The Ace of Spaces is a solid venue.
Mat Kearney is a fantastic showman and really filled the venue with his presence. The music was great and good times were had by all. Ace of Spades has everything dialed in to deliver a safe and fun experience.
Mat gave a fantastic show on a Monday night that was full of high energy and fun. We went just for the live music experience and walked away fans of Mat for sure
Seeing Mat again was a wonderful experience! We got right up front which was really great although next time ear plugs would be a good plan.Mat clearly loves Sacramento and that came across. We have followed Mat for over 15 years from the earliest time so we got to know each other, he is so special as a person too. It may have been my ears but the music seemed to get muddled as noise but that didn't take away from the experience and how much the crowd loved it as well, Mat really inspired us! Susan and I felt safe in the big crowd and it was well run a Ace of Spades. We also loved "The National Park" band, they were a perfect start to an awesome evening! Thank you!
