About

MAT KEARNEY IN CONCERT:

Contemporary Christian rocker Mat Kearney has enthralled fans of inspirational and secular music alike with his unique blend of rock, pop, and hip hop. Kearney's emotional tunes are regularly featured on TV dramas like Grey's Anatomy and Kyle XY, and it's easy to see why -- his live performances reveal him to be a deeply spiritual soul whose heart-wrenching songs hold universal appeal. Whether he's crooning along to the acoustic strumming of "Breathe In Breathe Out" or kicking things up a notch with the hip hop-influenced "Ships in the Night", Kearney is a passionate and dynamic performer who always connects with fans on his must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Mat Kearney was born in Eugene, OR, but it wasn't until he attended college in Chico, CA that he discovered his passion for music. Following a trip to Nashville, Kearney picked up his roommate's guitar and begin plucking out tunes, and before long he was performing at local coffee shops. He linked up with producer Robert Marvin, and together they moved to Nashville and recorded Kearney's 2004 debut album Bullet. The record attracted the attention of execs at Columbia Records, who signed the budding singer just in time for the release of his 2006 sophomore album Nothing Left to Lose. That record was a hit, peaking at No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and receiving placement in several major TV shows. Kearney's next album, 2009's City of Black & White, topped the Christian Albums chart, and in 2011 he topped both the Christian chart and Top Rock Albums chart with his fourth album Young Love. An inspiring and emotional performer known for his soulful voice, Kearney continues to treat ticket buyers to passionate and moving shows on tour.

  • Amazing musician with beautiful music

by SuznSl on 10/6/24XL Live - HarrisburgRating: 5 out of 5

I was impressed with everything as far as getting tickets, access to the venue, and on top of it all, the incredible music by Mat Kearney and his band. What a talented musician. He put on one hell of a performance, plus he was fun and entertaining and didn't poop around between songs. Only asked the fans what they wanted to hear. Loved him! I do hope he comes back to the Harrisburg area!

  • Amazing voice, fantastic band and Great Show

by Shy Concert Goer on 10/4/24Hart Theatre at the Egg - AlbanyRating: 5 out of 5

Matt Kearney and his band were fantastic. I have to admit I'm not a big concert goer, but this was a huge show, Albany New York was small But mighty, but Mat Kearney and his band were sounded fantastic. If Mat Kearney is playing near me, I will be seeing him every time now. What a show! Thank you, Mat Kearney... I'm an even bigger fan now!

  • Excellent Shoe from Start to Finish!

by MDgenX on 10/3/24Hart Theatre at the Egg - AlbanyRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been following Mat Kearney for a number of years and this show did not disappoint. It was a great mix of old and new favorites, as well as a lot of energy from not only Mat but his band as well. Phil Moore on bass has toured with Mat in the past and I love him as well. The only thing I was missing was hearing Sumac live, my newest favorite of his latest album!

  • Awesome show

Mat Kearney was great at the Orpheum theater. Good show

  • Overall Great Experience

by Jay R on 10/1/24Orpheum Theatre presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was really really great. I never heard Darren Kiely before and he won me over as a fan. Mat Kearney crushed it as well. I was already a fan, but haven't followed him in years. I picked up the tickets because I was impulsive and they were cheap enough. Man o man I'm so glad I went. Mat and the band were phenomenal. It was the best concert I've seen this year. They played a nice mix of older and newer songs, jammed out a good amount, and threw in some mashups with classics like "Free Fallin"and "Africa". What a great night for music.

  • SO GLAD WE WENT !!

by MCM on 10/1/24Orpheum Theatre presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Mat Kearney was an EXCELLENT show. The Orpheum is a smaller venue and perfect for a concert. Tickets were very reasonable and we had great seats.

Mat puts on a great show and the VIP Experience was great -- he chatted with us and played 3 acoustic songs. Sweet!

  • Great show

I’ve seen Mat before and this time he seemed to have more energy and be really engaged with the audience. Will definitely see him again!

  • GREAT!!

by Bucho on 9/29/24Lincoln Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The wife and I had a great time!! I bought the tickets the first day they became available to celebrate our anniversary and her birthday! She’s always been a huge fan of Mat Kearney. I didn’t know what to expect. We were grooving all night long. The opening act was a good warm up and very good.

  • The best there is

by Alex B on 9/19/24The Pageant - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This is my fifth time seeing him in concert and he blows me away every time. His voice is unmatched, and the mix of older songs with his new album is a perfect combination. He has also consistently chosen excellent opening acts for all of his tours Will continue to see Mat as often as I possibly can.

  • Such a relaxed night

by Jen on 9/19/24The Pageant - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to the Pageant before and it's never disappointed! Great venue for a concert where you feel like the artist is just performing in their backyard! Very personable and not a bad seat in the building. Mat Kearney is amazing and sounds great live! Easy to get to and parking was a breeze! Enjoyed being able to bring in our own food and the bar provides lots of options for your drinking pallette.

  • Amazing show!

by Jess on 9/16/24State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Great show at an awesome venue. I saw him on his 2015 tour and this was even better!

  • warm up band/delay of start time

by jaxcat on 9/16/24State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

In my opinion, the warm-up band was too loud. The 30 minutes delay between 8:30 and 9:00 was unreasonable.

  • Always an amazing show!

by Mowdy on 9/16/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Mat Kearney is so talented, and so good live! You will not be disappointed!

  • Mat Kearney

Terrific concert, really enjoyed it. Have always appreciated his music.

  • Great show and even better venue

by Melissa on 9/15/24Rating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Mat, but always has been on my list to see. The opener was great and Mat put on a great show with his band. Made it an authentic experience. The venue was great as well, smaller but after this experience I would love seeing any concert at this venue.

  • Mat Kearny always brings it!

by Smuffy on 9/15/24State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Mat Kearny always brings it! He never phones it in. He's engaged, full of energy and always on top of his game. We've been to a lot of concerts over the years and he's the only one we still want to see again. Darren Kiely was a great opener.

  • Best Live Voice Performance I've Seen

    by J Rein on 9/15/24State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to a lot of concerts, and I will say he has one of, if not the best, live voices of anyone I've seen. Just like his recorded albums, he had incredible vocals that rivaled his "studio"voice. He added a flair and energy to even his slower songs. His singing almost seemed effortless. Both my wife and I thought his live performance was incredible and exceeded our expectations. Great show Mat and company! I will make a point to go to another show when he comes back through the twin cities!!

  • Amazing Performance, Lackluster Venue Execution

    by G-Funk on 9/13/24Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 3 out of 5

Mat Kearney changed my life 14 years ago and it was amazing to see him live for the first time! That being said, the venue was overserving some guests to the point that patrons were yelling obnoxiously loud during key and sensitive moments of the show. Whoever was in charge if the projection visuals on stage was struggling to execute what was intended and instead there were times where the visuals would time out and display a sideways iPhone or iPad lock screen while the concert was going on. The lighting was also very sparatic. The timing of lights coming on and going off to the beat, was not in sync to the music being played. There were also times where there were NO lights while they were playing and Mat Kearney even called them out on it once during the performance. The audio was fairly good with being able to not wear ear plugs and being able to enjoy the experience. However, not all the instruments were being monitored correctly through the house system. The bassist specifically was basically non-existent even though there was plenty of bass from other instruments being played. This performance was top notch but was unfortunately slightly ruined with all of the aforementioned issues.
