Great show to take grandchildren to!

by GrandmaTw on 2/23/13New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

This was the second time I've seen this show, both times taking grandchildren. Well done with lots of fun music and some good acting. One comment is that we bought front row balcony and were disappointed because there was a bar that obstructed the view for both the children and the adults. So I recommend going up one row to avoid this. There is the same issue in the mezzinine section.

Definitely good for kids. Adults not so much. Liked the performance but could have more touching scenes. I usually like kids movies and cartoons, and enjoyed most of the performance.

    What a Fabulous Show!!!!!

by PinkMagnolia1 on 2/22/13New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

I was never so glad to be able to see this show before it closed. My two grandchildren and I sat there in awe of all we saw. This is a show that might appeal to children, but the adults were enthralled, also. What a wonderful way to introduce youngsters to theater. We saw it on Wednesday and now it's Friday and we are still raving about it to anyone who will listen.

    Mary Poppins was great!

by Anonymous on 2/22/13New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

I thought the show was great. Seats were a litte cramped but standable. We sat second row center of first mezzanine, which was fine, we usually sit front center orchestra but thought with Mary Poppins flight it would be better. We still had a good view, I don't think it mattered. Only complaint is parents tend to take children much too young who cannot sit for the entire show therefore making the second half very noisy (crying) and a little bit hard for the others around them to enjoy the remainder of the show. Two and three year olds are far too young!

    Mary Poppins was unforgettable!

by Cat213 on 2/22/13New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

The actors/actresses were wonderful. The children did an amazing job. The music brought me back to my childhood and had me singing throughout the show. The "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" dance made me want to learn it and dance along. The stage setting and props were unbelievable. The Bank 's house was two stories and transitioned smoothly - even up to the rooftop which is a big part. I was really worried that this was going to be for kids only (12-younger) as I took my son (15) and nieces (15 & 17) however they enjoyed this and I would highly recommend it to people of all ages. The only negative was the ushers. They kept walking around throughout which was distracting.

    Mary Poppins was Supercalafragilistic!!!

by MommyandBela on 2/22/13New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

I took my 5 year old daughter and we had front row seats. I was initially nervous about sitting so close but the both of us couldn't keep our eyes off the performers. They didn't miss a beat! We both were clapping and dancing the whole time! I'm just sad it's leaving March 3rd, because I would have gone again!

    Mary Poppins is Spectacular!

by Meeshwalker on 2/21/13New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

The New Amsterdam Theatre was a perfect backdrop for this spectacular musical. The theatre is gorgeous, with its ornate wood carvings and beautiful carpets. The staff was very enthusiastic and friendly. The show itself was amazing. The sets were eye-popping in their detail and movement. The costumes were colorful and fun, especially the statues that come to life. The dance numbers were wonderful, particularly "Step In Time". Some of the action truly seemed magical and made one awe, "How did they do that?". This was a beautifully acted, danced, and sung show. It will be a loss to Broadway when it closes. I wish we had gone to see it sooner so we could have gone back again for a second time.

Mary Poppins was fabulous. Great cast, great talent. We especially liked Bert. Mary Poppins herself was quite funny with her mannerisms. :) Great music, live orchestra. Really, could not have been better.

    truly supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

by tr42 on 2/21/13New Amsterdam Theatre - New York

When we ordered tickets to take our daughter, I really didn't expect to enjoy this play as much as I did. First of all, how could anyone step into Julie Andrews shoes as Mary? But Steffanie Leigh was phenomenal. The show's twists to the Disney movie, including new songs, were excellent. The actors and dancers all first class. My only [very slight] criticism is in regards to the mother figure. I felt the personality wasn't quite developed enough. This is not a play aimed only at the young, but at the young hearts in us all. Loved it.
