THE KING AND I
by Papasotarin on 1/6/15Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire - LincolnshireDarn you anyway! You are forcing my hand. I had decided that I simply had too much to do this week, and couldn't possibly send you a fan letter: this email came, and must take some time to tell you... HOW FABULOUS your production was! My husband and I took our grandaughters, aged 15 and 12 last Sunday afternoon. We have taken them to many MT productions through the years, just as week took our sons, so long ago. (INTO THE WOODS, l996?) I don't know where to begin. The actors in the lead roles were superlative----and I have seen Yul and Gertie! As a matter of fact, the actors in the secondary roles were superlative, too. The voices----there were so many standouts that I would end up listing them all. Tuptim, Lady Thang, Louis Leonowens, Lun Tha, Lady Thiang. See? To tell you the truth, I cried so many times that I wore out my handkerchief. Someone recently explained to me what "production values" means. Well. Your production was a visual aid for good ones. The imaginative use of the theater itself, and then those wood carvings all along the border---the costumes (even though Anna' plaid dress gave me a moment of dizziness!). Thank you for such a wonderful new year treat. It was sublime. Sincerely, Alicia Resnick
