  • Mamma Mia touring show

I've always been a fan of Abba and of Mamma MIa so this was not the first time I've seen the show. This touring cast did not disappoint. Its a great, fun show and I always have to slightly restrain myself from singing along to all the songs. I went with a mix of friends - some who have never seen the movie nor the show, some who only had seen the movie and one other like me who has seen both. Everyone agreed that the show is far better than the movie and seeing seasoned professional singers live surpasses any movie. If you've seen the movie and enjoyed it I'm sure you'll love the show even more. My only complaint is that the show was in town for such a short period of time because if it was in town longer I might have even seen it again!

I forgot how catchy ABBA's songs were. I really liked how some of their more obscure songs were integrated into the scenes...very clever. The cast's singing ability was outstanding and their energy and enthusiasm was fantastic. Thanks for the great night of entertainment!!!

Loved it! Lots of fun. Sing-a-long at end was great. They should have put the words up on stage for us though.

  • Mamma Mia was amazing!

I was worried that, having seen the moviewith Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, the live cast couldn't meet the standard. Instead they far exceeded the movie stars! The singing was phenomenal, and the energy of "Donna" made the story. "Sam" was as impressive as Pierce Brosnan, wtih a much better voice!

Mamma Mia was an O.K. play. I thought the acting (at times) was amateurish and some of the singers did not project well. Overall the play was "cute" and we particularly enjoyed the finale.

Great show for a ladies night out! (might be inappropriate for little ones, but the jokes would probably go right over their heads) Made me bring out my Abba greatest hits CD the next day, Fun! Fun! Fun!

SEEMED TO START A BIT SLOW BUT THEN CAME TO LIFE WITHOUT EVER SLOWING DOWN. MUSIC WAS INCREDIBLE WITH AN AWESOME FINALE. WHILE NOT HEARING IMPAIRED MYSELF, THE SIGN INTERPRETERS WERE GREAT IN KEEPING WITH THE BEAT OF THE MUSIC AND THE TONE OF CONVERSATIONS.

  • Acting was good|Lighting was good|Sound was so-so

by PickySoundTech on 12/12/10Rochester Auditorium Theatre - RochesterRating: 2 out of 5

Actors were fairly good, but needed to speak up and project their voices better. Lighting was great. Sound was mediocre: The actors sounded like there were behind the soundtrack rather than in front of it (possibly due to them not projecting), so it was hard to hear all of the lines. Generally the vocals were ~2/3 the volume of the instruments. The only time that they were really at the same level was during the "Concert" at the end. Wicked had MUCH better sound the two times we have seen it there.
