I've been a Madonna fan for a long time (I'm 31, so just about as long as I can remember). I've seen her four times now, and this was the most disappointing. First, she really should know better than to have a DJ (or anyone, really) as an opening act, as this is not the crowd for it. The mostly 40+ fans will not appreciate someone playing music as a talent. The worst part about it was the fact that the DJ was on until almost 10 pm and, as we could tell by the upset people around us, no one was really informed about this. Thankfully, we knew because of Facebook and arrived late to miss the DJ, but when the ticket says 8 pm and she's never had an opener the past 3 times I've seen her, it should have been communicated to everyone the lineup.
Second, I know it was called the "MDNA" tour, but let's be honest, no one wants to hear songs from that CD. We all know the songs people want to hear and this was very obvious during the show, as people sat during the vast majority of the new songs and were up and dancing during "Vogue", "Express Yourself", and "Like a Prayer". That's what we pay the money for. It's no secret.
Lastly, there was no reason the show had to go that late...so late that people missed the last trains out of the city and since people weren't able to plan for it, I'm sure there were a lot of high cab fares getting back home that night.
Basically, while the show was entertaining, it wasn't worth the wait until 10:20 pm and since we did have to work the next day, getting home at 1:30 am was not at all appreciated. Please know your audience a little better next time, Madonna. I'll be there to see you, but hope it's better than this!
