About

M83's "Midnight City" was one of the most anthemic songs of 2011, ending up at the top of Pitchfork's year-end list and propelling album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming to Top 40 chart positions around the world. The band's subsequent concert tour gave ticket buyers a close-up view of what makes them an international success — namely, a deep catalog of polished songs, a laser and light show that blows all audiences away and the infectious stage presence of founding member Anthony Gonzalez. If there's one word to describe M83's vibe, it's optimistic; and whether it's the band's exhilarating anthems or their danceable synth-based instrumentals, you'll definitely walk away feeling good. "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" was their breakout, but seeing them live puts them over the top.

The band got its start in Antibes, France, with founding members Anthony Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau. After releasing two albums, 2001's self-titled debut and 2003's "Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts," to critical acclaim, Fromageau departed and left Gonzalez to pursue his singular vision. Gonzalez soon followed up with 2005's "Before the Dawn Heals Us" and 2008's "Saturdays=Youth" before culminating with "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming." Gonzalez has also contributed to several remix collections and a film soundtrack while attracting a steady stream of his own collaborators for M83. This band shows that "overnight success" is often years in the making, and now that they're in the limelight, they have the chops to back it up.

    Amazing!

by Gabbss on 5/17/23Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso Robles

First time seeing the M83, it was awesome! Lead si her Anthony walked around as the Aileen at the beginning of the show, kind to take pictures and high-fives. The show gave me chills, I was in disbelief I was there! I was able to ask for the set list, and he gave me a guitar pick. Truly one of the best shows I’ve been to! The band also kept it at a fast pase as well to keep the grove of the show!

I'm a huge M83 fan and saw them 2016 at Oakland and they were great. Last night in Oakland I saw them again and it was a snooze fest. If you going to see this tour, bring pillow so you can sleep comfortable. They owe us a show that show with some M83 songs sorry bout that garbage was phoned in. I've had more fun at the DENTIST!

    M83 at Vina Robles

by Aaron on 5/17/23Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso Robles

We arrived at 6:30, when doors opened. We ended up getting a spot on the rail in the middle of the stage. The lead singer came out in a mask (a mask from the latest album) and watched the opening band with us. It was one of my favorite concert moments and the show hadn't even started yet. M83 was amazing. The band was tight and the energy of the crowd was great. I lifted the guitarist onto the rail so he could crowd surf. We were so close to the band it felt like a personal show. Vina Robles was an awesome venue and easy to get into and out of.

    Opener (BAD) M83 (GOOD)

    by Chico530 on 5/16/23

I did not care for the opener Jonathan. No one else around us seemed to be investing in his music. We all were eagerly waiting for M83. M83 was really good, no complaints. 4 stars because we had to sit through the opener.

    Heavenly experience

    by Y. Z. on 5/15/23

Los Angeles artist Jeremiah Chiu opened the show, Anthony watched him with fans in the pit area for ten minutes. Shows started around 9, everything single song was phenomenal and full of passion, pure craftsmanship and dedication. 5 people on stage performed as one, incredible and memorable show. Thank you!!!

M83 is a must see! They are a band that delivers live! Each band member is amazing at their craft and together, ethereal. Easily transported through nostalgic times of your life while simultaneously creating new memories at the show. Dismemberment Bureau is easily in my top 3.

    Good show ***** - bad sound *

    by dchabot57 on 5/1/23MTELUS - Montreal

M83 and its leader Anthony Gonzalez have a magnificent musical repertoire. And they offered it to their fans last Friday. The atmosphere was at its peak. But, the only criticism and by the way, it's the most important: Mtelus was not a good place to produce a show of this quality. When I discovered this group a few years ago (thanks to the Versaille series and the Overture Outro), it was clear to me that if they came to Montreal, I would go see their show. And I still say the same thing today. But there is one condition: please choose a high quality acoustic venue like Place des Arts. Their music and the genius of A. Gonzalez deserve it.

Amazing show but sound too loud

by Julie on 5/1/23MTELUS - Montreal

Dommage

    Transcendent!

by Ewolfgirl on 4/27/23The Anthem - Washington

So wonderful to get to experience M83 after so many years of listening to their music. They are a tight band and their sound brings you to another plane. ‘Wait’ was transcendent; ‘Mirror’ during the Encore got the crowd going!
