Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

  • Great as always

    by Cassie47 on 1/23/12MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa - StatelineRating: 4 out of 5

My huband and I have seen Lucinda at least three times and like her so we made the drive to Tahoe to see her again. We enjoyed the prior shows more because she was with her band but the male guitarist/singer (forgot his name) with her this time was good. We both think she is a very talented singer and she's obviously an amazing songwriter. Her songs speak of everyday life and the joy and heartbreak in words everyone can relate to. Her words are easily understood - often not the case with other singers. We also think that you either really like Lucinda's singing or you don't - best to listen to sound bites to decide.

  • Gotta Love Lucinda

by renohack on 1/23/12MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa - StatelineRating: 4 out of 5

For her first Tahoe gig in perhaps forever, Lucinda Williams left her big band at home and brought up-and-coming songwriter/singer/guitarist Blake Mills along for accompaniment. Just a stripped-down, half-acoustic, half-amplified visit with the great and gritty lady as if we were in on a living room jam session. She did upwards of 15 songs, concentrating mostly on stuff from "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" and subsequent albums. She did only one track from her latest album "Blessed," the title song, saving it for the encore, and pulled out a couple of obscurities from other artists, including some tasty Delta blues and Bruce Springsteen's "Factory" from his "Darkness on the Edge of Town" album. Lucinda was in fine voice especially once she settled in — she's always fighting stage fright — and Mills provided spot-on, if sometimes loose, backup, working his finger-picking and slide magic on several instruments, including a 10-string mandolin. Lucinda change up the set list nightly so every song had an experimental edge, which worked well in this intimate setting. An excellent outing especially for deep-track fans.

  • Lucinda was different in a good way.

    by Bones53 on 1/23/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the atmosphere at Uptown Theatre. Good Acoustics. Lucinda has a great voice and kept me interested with her humor and candor. The only negative was there was too much delay between the first act and Lucinda's gig. She was worth the wait.

  • Lucinda was intense

by DrHuck on 1/22/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 5 out of 5

Good lord. It was like Dylan, Neil Young, and Bruce, but with a killer female voice. Damn cool. The theatre is beautiful !

  • Loved Lucinda

by JBgoodFan on 1/22/12Uptown Theatre Napa - NapaRating: 3 out of 5

The show was great, I loved hearing Lucinda live. But, and it is a huge "but", the sound was distorted and did not do her justice. Maybe the room was too small for her voice or the sound man didn't know how to handle her range, but lots of her words were lost and sometimes just too loud. I love her just the same, she is humble and grateful, and that is so welcome, especially from the stage.

I'm a big music fan ....and for this show I went on blind faith as I wasn't familiar with her music but friends said she was awesome. She was just ok for me. I left early

  • Smaller venue queen

by EXOCER on 11/26/11El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

We are long time fans and saw Lucinda one other time, at about a 6500 seat venue, she seemed to not connect and was the opening act so she could not really get into a groove. At the El Rey, whole different vibe, her band opened and set the tone a great night of true music and the difference showed. She was on top of her game, venue outstanding as always, left feeling we would see her anytime in the smaller setting, as she and her songs are meant for the those who can appreciate the intimacy.

  • LOVE Lucinda!

This was my first time to see Lucinda!!! LOVE her!!! Will defiantly be back to see her again!

  • fabulous

by hammer56 on 11/25/11El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Obviously road weary, it was still fabulous. Always nice to be in a small setting. Blake was very polite.....the guitar just kept getting better all night long.

  • Lucinda...Lucinda!!

by Gman on 11/25/11El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

The woman is amazing; she's a poet, a blueser, and she can rock out with the best of them. My first time seeing her, hope its not the last. I could not believe that the El Rey was not packed, but there was plenty of room to dance and easy parking. I wanted to go back sort the second night, but life got in the way. What a discovery tho...thank you Lucinda!

  • My Kind Of Therapy

by Snovoice on 11/16/11The Crest Theater Sacramento. - Sacramento.Rating: 5 out of 5

Ms. Lucinda Williams; She should get paid extra for the great therapy session she had with us during her show. I remeber Neil Young going through the same thing years ago. Someone had written him a letter expressing their concern for his happiness. Just as Neil young explained, Ms.Williams too points out, there are so many things to write about around us, like the person sleeping in the street. I'm not the one who's suffering. Whatever it is, she does it better than most. Last night was so great. Tuesday night, small venue. She got us to open our hearts and then she snactched them and shook the daylights out of them. I don't believe anyone was disappionted. Lucinda is an icon a true herald of the human condition. She showcased songs from her newest album "Blessed" but didn't leave out our favorites. I lost it, Joy, Get Right with God, Springsteens "Factory" and an alternative version of Steal Your Love. As I look through the list of songs she and the boys did it's amazing. Real Live Bleeding Fingers, Drunken Angel and more. If you weren't there, you made a mistake.

As always - a great show by Lucinda! Hopefully she will tour more often.

  • I've died and gone to music heaven!

by PABandoChick on 11/5/11Keswick Theatre - GlensideRating: 5 out of 5

I've been waiting to 10 years to get the chance to see Lucinda live and boy was she worth the wait! She started with a few songs from Car Wheels - Drunken Angel (one of my absolute favorites was first!). She then progressed her set from the more country-like sounds to rock and roll, to folk to jazz and back to folk and rock and roll. She and her band are amazing musicians, especially the lead guitar player. They could play all these styles, and songs from 4 decades, with ease, perfection and soul. She played a cover of Bob Dylan's Tryin' to get to heaven - awesome! Her newer songs were a true treat, especially the stunning Copenhagen - you could have heard a pin drop in the theater. All in all this was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

  • Lucinda - Awesome as ever, beautiful person.

    by Reggie53 on 11/3/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

With the newest lead guitar player the band has done nothing but get even better. Lucinda was awesome as always. I can't wait until they come back to St. Louis.
