Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation present

LUCINDA WILLIAMS

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8, 2015 – Round Up by arrangement with Live Nation is thrilled to announce one of America’s finest singer-songwriters, LUCINDA WILLIAMS will head to New Zealand for one show only, playing Auckland’s Vector Arena on Friday December 4.

It’s been three years since the immensely talented Lucinda Williams graced our shores and we’re honoured to welcome the three-time Grammy Award winner back to New Zealand for a one-off intimate performance. Renowned for marrying rock, blues, country and soul, Lucinda heads our way, with stellar band in tow; including Wallflowers guitarist Stuart Mathis and her irreplaceable rhythm section, David Sutton on bass and Butch Norton on drums.

Tickets for this one-off performance will go on sale at midday Monday, October 12.

My Live Nation and Southern Fork members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sales commencing at midday tomorrow, Friday October 9.

For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz.

With a recording career spanning 12 albums and nearing four decades, Lucinda Williams is touring on the back of her brilliant 2014 double-album release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone, which was voted Album of the Year at the 14th Annual Americana Awards last month.

The album includes 20 new songs with all but two of the tracks written solely by 62-year-old Williams. From the very personal ‘Compassion’ penned by her poet father, Miller Williams and sung into being by Lucinda, to the closing, beautifully epic rendition of JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’; Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is testament to Lucinda’s prowess.

Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone joins a distinguished discography including 1978 debut Ramblin’ on My Mind, 1988’s eponymous breakthrough, Lucinda Williams and 1998’s landmark Car Wheels On A Gravel Road.

Great seats, tight band and she's a great singer, and a nice small intimate venue

  • Not impressed

by Ozzy on 11/17/24State Theatre - PortlandRating: 3 out of 5

I had great seats and the band sounded exceptional. I could her every note they played. Unfortunately Lucinda sounded tinny and was barely lisenable. They need to get someone to fix her sound.

  • Lucinda and her band rocked it!!

by Jo on 11/17/24State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been loving Lucinda Williams music for many years, but had never been to a concert. I am aware she had a stroke a few years back, but she still knows how to put on an amazing show. She’s not moving around much on stage but her music still hits the same emotion buttons and her band is amazing!! Two lead guitarists with different but equally powerful styles, an energized bass player and gifted drummer delivered the juice!

  • The Best

by Flp on 11/17/24State Theatre - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

It felt like a community event from powerhouse Lucinda Williams (down to earth and personable), the venue itself (warmly lit, carpeted, plenty of bars) to everyone present (friendly, unhurried staff, concert goers coming in from the cold night for a warming event) Lucinda and her band created a wonderful moment!

  • Wonderful Show

Lucinda is a bit frail, but her voice is strong and she and her band rock. A memorable show.

by SpizzyP on 11/15/24Chevalier Theatre - MedfordRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Lucinda Williams live. I was blown away! Her vocals were in top form, and her band was excellent. I really enjoyed hearing more about the songs and the people they were about. I felt really energized and uplifted after the show.

  • Great!!!

Totally enjoyable. She really brought it to her performance. The band was very talented

  • What was with the lights shining full force on the audience?

by Meg on 11/15/24Chevalier Theatre - MedfordRating: 3 out of 5

I loved Lucinda Williams. I hated when the stage overhead lights were turned on the audience in bright blue or yellow. Most of us were covering our eyes. It was very uncomfortable and I couldn't watch the stage when that happened. I also think that occassionally the music was too loud for the venue - also quite uncomfortable.

  • An Unforgettable Evening

by Lucinda fan on 11/15/24Chevalier Theatre - MedfordRating: 5 out of 5

Lucinda Williams’s concert was amazing! We were blown away at her determination, perseverance and true grit. She has had a major life altering medical issue and has come through stronger than ever!! Her grit is palpable. She’s surrounded by the best musicians I’ve ever heard.. and I’ve been around and seen a lot of people perform…her musicians are the BEST I’ve ever heard! They care for her throughout the evening…in many ways. This evening with Lucinda Williams was an experience of a lifetime..showing the heart of a true artist.. not letting life’s obstacles get in her way… and loyalty and respect and friendship of her band!! I’m so grateful to have experienced this performance…an evening I will never forget!!

  • Lucinda is a special talent

by Bob on 11/12/24The Capitol Theatre - Port ChesterRating: 4 out of 5

Lucinda was in good spirits and good voice for her 11/9 concert. For those of us who worry about her health, she looked OK. She did a full 90-minute set, on her feet the whole time, without a break until the encore. A great mix of newer and older songs. Not often you see a band that includes 2 guys who play serious lead guitar. Overall, the band was terrific. The audience loved what she was doing. Good time had by all. On the downside, the Capitol Theater (Port Chester, NY) is not a comfortable venue -- the seats are too short.

She was great with a very talented band. Rocked for 2.5 hours at the Capital Theatre in Port Chester. A terrific venue.

Love her. Love her. Love her. She still delivers. The band kicked ass. The Capital staff were friendly and helpful which added to a fun filled time.

What a night!! Lucinda's voice is better than ever and the band was electric!! I highly recommend seeing them if you haven't. She is an evocative song writer with a mesmerizing voice.

Fantastic show. Go see Lucinda if you have the chance.

  • Lucinda still awesome

by Jay Bancroft on 10/7/24The Sound - Del MarRating: 5 out of 5

She was terrific once again and the voice is as always was, her band was tight as usual too. Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs good as well and then she came back at the end of his set to sing 3-4 more songs.with them.

  • Lucinda Williams!

Lucinda was exceptional… as always. A phenomenal experience!!

  • Wonderful Lucinda!

    by Steve H on 10/4/24Rialto Theatre-Tucson - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

We recently went to the Rialto Theatre in Tucson for a Lucinda Williams concert. It was our first time there. The experience was very positive. Lucinda was just outstanding. She’s a testament to resilience in coming back from a stroke and continuing to perform. She sings beautifully and her band is a knockout. The highlight was “Where The Song Will Find Me”…just beautiful! We found the venue very much to our liking. When we came in a staff member was very helpful in directing us to our seats. Concessions were easy too. No long lines. We’ll definitely be back when the right act comes along.

  • Great performer, slow start

    by JJ on 10/4/24Rialto Theatre-Tucson - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

The Rialto, as always, slow entry system and hot inside. Lucinda entered the stage with help from her band members, sat, began a long reminiscence about her family. Once the songs overtook the musings, show was as expected - tight band, her powerful voice.
