About

Jon Lovett is a podcast host, former presidential speechwriter, and straight shooter widely respected on both sides. In 2017 he co-founded Crooked Media, where he co-hosts "Pod Save America" and hosts "Lovett or Leave It," two popular podcasts that are very good. Before Crooked, he served as a speechwriter in the Obama White House, co-created a comedy on NBC called "1600 Penn" (canceled after one perfect season), and wrote speeches for Hillary Clinton. He recently switched to oat milk.

    Lovett’s lackluster panel

by Jmc on 9/16/19Radio City Music Hall - New York

While Lovett is wit personified and Stacy Abrams was impressive as always...the rest of the panel made for a cringeworthy show of uninformed, uninsightful, and pandering without pondering. This happens, sure - not all of his shows have guests that can demonstrate comedy chops + political panache...but oof...this was difficult to watch and listen to.

    Great event. Poor directions.

by Lee on 9/16/19Radio City Music Hall - New York

The show as great. The seats were great. I was surprised to get a note from Ticketmaster and the venue suggesting arriving at 7pm due to long lines and potentially missing the beginning of the show. When I got in to the venue, I realized how badly I had been suckered. It was obvious this was just a ploy to get patrons to buy concessions because we were going to be sitting around for a FULL HOUR. Not cool.

    Hilarious

by Alan on 9/16/19Radio City Music Hall - New York

Hilarious and awesome. My favorite two things: comedy and politics. All the panelists are pro improv comedians

Easy ticket purchase, gorgeous venue, terrific show.

by A. H. on 9/16/19Radio City Music Hall - New York

Staff at Radio City were extra friendly. Jon Lovett is a great wit, and a knucklehead. We enjoyed being there for the live podcast.

    Great night, lots of laughs

Lovett and guests were so funny - we had a great night out. Radio City is beautiful. Loved the cameo from Michael Barbaro.

Love Lovett; wish event had started on time

by jminnj on 9/16/19Radio City Music Hall - New York

How many emails did I get prior to the event telling me to arrive by 7:00 pm so that I wouldn’t miss the start of the show? Hmmm. Maybe 3? So I’m there and in my seat by 7:20. Show is sold out. Seats are empty all around well past 8:00. Show finally starts at 8:25 or so. I’m guessing Radio city is more interested in selling snacks than getting the audience in and getting the show started. Annoying.

    Truth in Advertising

by Chris on 9/16/19Radio City Music Hall - New York

I thought the entire show was great and was what I expected. My only problem was with the pre-show communication. They made such a big deal about people arriving by 7, and that the show would start promptly at 8, neither of which happened. To add, they also said you had to bring a printed ticket, but many people used the mobile version. Either stick with what you say or don’t say it in the first place.

Loved Lovett, staging not so much

by R. on 9/16/19Radio City Music Hall - New York

The show itself was great. I wish, however, that the chairs had been even on just a two step riser. We were in orchestra bb and because the seats are not tiered/pitched that close to the stage (like stadium seating), in order to see even just the faces of the guests beyond the head in front of me I had to tilt my head back at a weird angle. And even then I couldn’t really see the whole stage. It was like sitting in the first row at a movie. It did take away from the show. If they had been raised a bit, I think the feel would still have been casual/intimate but lots of people would have seen more. Five stars for Lovett, three for Radio City (Or Lovett’s production people)

    Loved it, didn’t leave it

by Hroma on 9/16/19Radio City Music Hall - New York

Jon Lovett is one of a kind. He someone gives me joy even when he’s discussing the worst aspects of politics. My only criticism is that as an audience member who wasn’t sitting in the middle of the room, I had a difficult time seeing the full screen that was part of the games he plays (which is a majority of the show). I payed good money for the seats and would like that to be re-evaluated for Radio City

    Fantastic Show

by E. C. on 4/13/19Boch Center Wang Theatre - Boston

Lovett was hilarious and brilliant, as usual, so it was a real treat to see him live! His monologue was so funny I would have been happy for it to continue the entire show. The games and the guests were also excellent. He says it every week, but one of the best episodes ever. The benefit to seeing it live is that Lovett is an incredible performer. He works the crowd well, responds to some heckling, and manages to feel somewhat personal. I was really impressed to see him stick around for a bit after the show to shake some hands, even if security didn’t let us up that far. I can’t recommend it highly enough to a fan of the podcast or of politics / comedy.

Show was amazing! I forgot I was sitting on some rickety folding chairs until it was time to stand up and my legs were numb.

    What a great show!

by Erin W. on 3/5/19Orpheum Theater - Madison

OMG, this was a GREAT show! When I heard Ana Marie introduced first, I thought there was no way there could be anyone more exciting. Then Jon introduced our lt governor and Akilah, and they made a GREAT team! I laughed so hard that I had an asthma attack. Su-PERB!

    Fantastic Show

by Jolene on 3/5/19Orpheum Theater - Madison

As a long time fan of Crooked Media podcasts, I was ecstatic to finally see Jon Lovett in person! The whole panel was entertaining and I think it was great they included the Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes. If you get the chance to go to a Lovett or Leave It show, you should!

    It was ok

    by J. S. on 3/5/19Orpheum Theater - Madison

It was ok. Fun, but less engaged around actual discussion than I'd hoped. Just a little disappointed with a lot of the guest commentary. Lt gov of Wis was generally excellent, but the others seemed more interested in making silly jokes, rather than talking policy issues framed humorously. "I don't like capitalism" isn't really a policy position. Lovett never seemed to really get going, and you can only tell the audience to shut up so many times before it gets old. I may have had the wrong idea of what to expect in going to the show .

    Smart and Funny!

by Jess on 3/5/19Orpheum Theater - Madison

Loved it! It was a really fun show. The only downside to any of it was the hecklers in the audience.
