About

Two-time Emmy award winner Louie Anderson is one of the country's most recognized and adored comics and was named by Comedy Central as "One of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time."

Currently he is headlining in his own show, "Louie-Larger Than Life" at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the famed Las Vegas Strip.

Anderson began his career at a comedy club in his native Minneapolis, when on a dare from friends; he got up on stage and performed.

His big break came in 1984 when he appeared on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" who was so impressed with the comic; he called him out for a rare and coveted "second bow."

Anderson's stand-up comedy career skyrocketed. Known as a "clean" comedian, his stories about growing up in the Midwest, being one of 11 children and dealing with an alcoholic father provided endless material for the comic with audiences of all types relating to his
everyday life experiences.

The multi-talented performer went on to do television and movies starring in his own CBS sitcom "The Louie Show" and his own comedy specials for both HBO and Showtime.

Anderson also has guest starred on such popular sitcoms as "Scrubs" and "Grace Under Fire," dramas like "Touched by an Angel" and "Chicago Hope." He also has appeared in memorable featured roles in such films as "Coming to America" opposite Eddie Murphy.

The multi-talented comedian/actor's resume also includes the syndicated hit series, "Family Feud" and being executive producer and creator of the two-time Emmy Award winning animated series on FOX "Life With Louie."

Anderson is also a best selling author and has written three books including the best selling first book Dear Dad-Letters From An Adult Child in 1989.

Anderson, a humanitarian, is co-founder of the H.E.R.O. organization whose mission is to empower people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to attain maximum self-sufficiency.

He also spends many hours working with numerous other charities in keeping with his philosophy of giving back to his community whenever he can.

  • Hilarious!

by Grumpytoo on 9/30/18Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Louie Anderson is the best. He had us laughing so hard we were in tears. He is so quick and bantered with the audience like we were his family. Forty years in comedy has made this guy one of the greats. The Ponte Vedra hall is perfect for comedy or music, so you actually see the performers up close.

We enjoyed the venue, nice people and a great performance. Louie made it easy to laugh and even joked about arriving at our airport - a great way to tie-in to the local area. We have been to this venue several times before and enjoy the setting.

From the moment he walked on stage, I was laughing full throttle. Louie Anderson is one of if not the best comedians I’ve seen live. I was pleasantly surprised that he doesn’t need to fall back on profanity or crudeness as a crutch for his sheer comedic talent — great show which runs through some of his many recollections from a difficult childhood & family life — I could definitely relate. I will be attending any future show of his in Long Island!

I've enjoyed Louie Anderson's comedy for many years, but this is the first time I saw him in person. He humor is clean (a rarity these days) and he's spot on with his observational comedy. I enjoyed how he interacted with the audience and seamlessly wove the exchanges into his act. I also liked the venue. The Bardavon is an old theater, but has a lot of charm and great acoustics. I've seen several shows here and was never disappointed.

My 2nd time seeing Louie Anderson in person. Laughed the whole time. His delivery is spot-on. BEST of all, not one word of profanity uttered through the whole show. Down-home family-appropriate humor at its' finest!

This was our 4th year seeing Louie at the Ames Center in Burnsville; he was funnier than ever. It is so refreshing to see a comic who can make you laugh without repeating the "F" word every 5 seconds. His down-to-earth humor just keeps getting better and better...

  • Hilarious!

by DMZ2012 on 9/22/17Rocks Lounge at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

We recently saw Louie Anderson at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa. The casino was really nice and we actually won some money (we usually don’t venture off of the strip) so it was worth the short Uber ride. Louie was great. We knew that he would be but he was even better than we expected. My face hurt from laughing the entire time. He was interactive with the audience but not in an uncomfortable fashion. We would love to see him again and I’ll also be on the lookout for other shows at Red Rock.
