Two-time Emmy award winner Louie Anderson is one of the country's most recognized and adored comics and was named by Comedy Central as "One of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time."
Currently he is headlining in his own show, "Louie-Larger Than Life" at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the famed Las Vegas Strip.
Anderson began his career at a comedy club in his native Minneapolis, when on a dare from friends; he got up on stage and performed.
His big break came in 1984 when he appeared on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" who was so impressed with the comic; he called him out for a rare and coveted "second bow."
Anderson's stand-up comedy career skyrocketed. Known as a "clean" comedian, his stories about growing up in the Midwest, being one of 11 children and dealing with an alcoholic father provided endless material for the comic with audiences of all types relating to his
everyday life experiences.
The multi-talented performer went on to do television and movies starring in his own CBS sitcom "The Louie Show" and his own comedy specials for both HBO and Showtime.
Anderson also has guest starred on such popular sitcoms as "Scrubs" and "Grace Under Fire," dramas like "Touched by an Angel" and "Chicago Hope." He also has appeared in memorable featured roles in such films as "Coming to America" opposite Eddie Murphy.
The multi-talented comedian/actor's resume also includes the syndicated hit series, "Family Feud" and being executive producer and creator of the two-time Emmy Award winning animated series on FOX "Life With Louie."
Anderson is also a best selling author and has written three books including the best selling first book Dear Dad-Letters From An Adult Child in 1989.
Anderson, a humanitarian, is co-founder of the H.E.R.O. organization whose mission is to empower people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to attain maximum self-sufficiency.
He also spends many hours working with numerous other charities in keeping with his philosophy of giving back to his community whenever he can.
I would definitely go see Louie Anderson show again!!! Had us laughing so much and the opening act was just as good.
I saw Louie Anderson in Dangerfields in the mid 80s. I was in college at the time and he was just a “kid” too. One of Rodney’s “young comedians”. He was hilarious then, and even better all these years later. Funny that one joke from back then is still used (Let me move this mike...) my wife and I had great seats, it it really felt like I was just hanging out with him, laughing and listening to his stories (jokes) and laughing almost non-stop. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
Enjoyed Louie very much. Laughed until I cried and cried until I laughed!
The warm up guy wasn't funny, not one laugh, we saw Louie 5 yrs ago and it was a great show. this time our entire group was disappointed.
LA is a down home realistic humorous hero. You can not be offended if you live in the north- if you are- you need to move. He loves his Momma like we all should. There is a bit of Louie in all of us- he's a treat!
Louie and the warm up comedian were both wonderfully entertaining. I was worried about being able to stay awake for a late show, but that was never an issue. I laughed until I cried for the entire show. It was a wonderful evening.
The warm up was great and Louie did a great show as always. Having grown up in Minnesota, love the Minnesota humor. Met Louie backstage after the show for the first time and he was friendly and fun and took time to talk to each person. The whole show was a great experience. Louie is a true professional.
Second time seeing Louie. The first was about 15 years ago. He was just wonderful! Made for a wonderful NYE!!!!
Louie was on for this performance- he was relaxed and interacted very well with crowd- great show
He's one of the greats. Go see his stand-up! He's fantastic!
My husband and I Laughed so hard...till our stomach Hurt!
Louie never disappoints. Excellent show! Highly recommend.
They really know how to raise them in Minnesota. Louie Anderson is a funny warm hearted man. Don’t miss him he is a Delight!!
Louie was as hilarious as usual but even more as he ages. There was also some emotional material dealing with family and stories. He seems to be more comfortable at this point in his career as shown but his wisdom and recommendation for parents and the respect we all should have by telling us to call our parents after the show and tell them we love them.
Louie still has it after all these years. His material was fresh, clean, and free of politics. Enjoyed it.
Hysterical, tears were dripping from how much I laughed!
Friend bought tickets for my birthday and we had a great time!! Louie speaks from the heart and his life experience! Very clean good fun!!! Great evening
I'm 63, so I "know" Louie Anderson well. Great sense of humor. Lots of laughs. Great opening act too.
I have loved Louie Anderson and his comedy since I was a kid. This was my first time seeing him live. He was wonderful. I haven’t laughed that much in a long time. Go see Louie!
Louie was very funny, very engaging, and very humble. Can't wait to see him when Baskets returns to TV!
