About

Two-time Emmy award winner Louie Anderson is one of the country's most recognized and adored comics and was named by Comedy Central as "One of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time."

Currently he is headlining in his own show, "Louie-Larger Than Life" at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the famed Las Vegas Strip.

Anderson began his career at a comedy club in his native Minneapolis, when on a dare from friends; he got up on stage and performed.

His big break came in 1984 when he appeared on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" who was so impressed with the comic; he called him out for a rare and coveted "second bow."

Anderson's stand-up comedy career skyrocketed. Known as a "clean" comedian, his stories about growing up in the Midwest, being one of 11 children and dealing with an alcoholic father provided endless material for the comic with audiences of all types relating to his
everyday life experiences.

The multi-talented performer went on to do television and movies starring in his own CBS sitcom "The Louie Show" and his own comedy specials for both HBO and Showtime.

Anderson also has guest starred on such popular sitcoms as "Scrubs" and "Grace Under Fire," dramas like "Touched by an Angel" and "Chicago Hope." He also has appeared in memorable featured roles in such films as "Coming to America" opposite Eddie Murphy.

The multi-talented comedian/actor's resume also includes the syndicated hit series, "Family Feud" and being executive producer and creator of the two-time Emmy Award winning animated series on FOX "Life With Louie."

Anderson is also a best selling author and has written three books including the best selling first book Dear Dad-Letters From An Adult Child in 1989.

Anderson, a humanitarian, is co-founder of the H.E.R.O. organization whose mission is to empower people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to attain maximum self-sufficiency.

He also spends many hours working with numerous other charities in keeping with his philosophy of giving back to his community whenever he can.

  • Okay for New Year's Eve

by JunieBug51 on 1/2/11Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 3 out of 5

I was a bit disappointed in Louie's routine. He was funny, but not as funny as he could have been. I got the impression he wasn't that prepared. Either he was mumbling quite a bit or BCPA needs a better sound system.

  • Louie: Awesome as Always

by bikermo on 1/2/11Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

this show felt like a conversation with an old friend. maybe because we had such awesome seats, but honestly there didn't seem to be a bad seat in the BPAC auditorium. i've been a fan of louie's for years. i loved that there was so much new material, and so many old points mixed in. it was a whole new set, but familiar because i've heard all the older stuff so many times. it was thoroughly enjoyable! it usually takes a lot to make my dad "belly laugh" but he did throughout the entire show.

Had a great evening.....my cheek and face muscles were sore from all of the laughing! Thanks for coming 'home' Louie to the TC.

I have seen Louie at least 10 times in my life. During this show I did not hear one line or one joke from any previous shows. OUTSTANDING!!!

  • Louie was LOL

by Anonymous on 1/2/11Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 4 out of 5

It's been about 15 years or so since we have seen Louie Anderson and he was just as funny this year as he was back then. It was refreshing to see a show that wasn't riddled with swearing or other inappropriate language.

  • Worthwhile

by 911helper on 1/2/11Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleRating: 4 out of 5

My husband and I really enjoyed this laid back comedy performance. I could tell it was totally tailored to be "Minnesotan" which was fine, because EVERYONE could relate. I'm curious now to see one of his shows in Vegas to compare. Very funny, lots of laughs. Even being a "big" star, he still seems truly humbled and happy to come back to his home state.

  • Louie Anderson is still funny!

by LeesandT on 8/3/10California Theatre of the Performing Arts - San BernardinoRating: 4 out of 5

We loved Louie and his jokes but we didn't get enough of him, he introduced 4 new up and coming talents that took up most of the performance. We had no clue that this was going to happen so we're disappointed in that aspect.

  • LOL Louie Anderson -

Loved the show. Wanted more of Louie. His humor is so pure, clean, true and hysterical. He looks the same as he did 20 years ago. He is a fine person and a wonderful funny man.

  • Louie Anderson at Pheasent Run

    by Sneakers26 on 7/11/10Pheasant Run - St CharlesRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! Louie has not skipped a beat. His midwest roots came through to this Chicagoland audience. We had a great time. Keep it up Louie!

  • Louie Anderson at Pheasant Run

by Louieadmirer on 7/11/10Pheasant Run - St CharlesRating: 3 out of 5

I rated this event average not because of Louie, who was his usual incredibly funny self, but the venue. Pheasant Run turned out to be a huge disappointment. Compared to other venues we've been to around the country, this was sub-par. The constant police presence at this event made me feel more like I was on Rush Street at 2 AM rather than in the far west suburbs. Never again.

  • Louie is the BEST!

by Screwball on 5/11/10Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tampa - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

Louie is so funny! Most of the audience was in hysterics for the entire show. He is a nut case and a true professional. Only an encore could have made it better.

  • Louie in Ocala,FL - Thanks for Coming to Ocala

by GainesvilleFAN on 5/8/10Bonkerz Comedy Club - OcalaRating: 5 out of 5

Well if you don't know Ocala Florida isn't exactly a big city. So when I saw on ticketmaster one of Louie Anderson dates was at Bonkerz Comedy Club in Ocala I jumped at the tickets. The Bonkerz place is a dive. But Louie's comedy routine is timeless. We sat in the front row. Louie doesn't make fun of people but instead makes us laugh at everyday things. He really seems like a great geniune person, and I think that comes across in his comedy. This less a review and more of a 'Louie, Thanks for coming to Ocala post'

  • Louie was Awesome!

by voltagetester on 4/14/10Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Went to see Louie Anderson in Milwaukee on April 2nd 2010. He was just as funny as I had remembered from my younger years. There wasn't a moment when I wasn't laughing, or didn't have a smile on my face. Everything in his routine I could relate to. This is a good show for all ages, and I would recommend this show to everyone.

  • Fantastic Clean Fun

by JustMeAndMyDoll on 4/4/10Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

There is no one like Louie. I have seen him 4 times and could see him 100. Can't wait until he is in the area again.

  • Louie at Northern Lights

    by rl2b on 4/3/10Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Louie Anderson is one of my favorite comedians and the Northern Lights Theater was an excellent venue. It was a small, intimate setting and I don't believe there is a bad seat in the house. I would highly recommend both!

Hysterically funny! Louie was fabulous! Laughed out loud almost the entire show. :)
