LOTUS IN CONCERT:
Lotus is the kind of band that thrives during live performance – they put on electrifying, highly creative shows that are, in the very apt words of ticket buyers, “euphoric” and “energizing”. The group's unique combination of roots rock and electronic beats makes for a diverse sound, and it's no surprise that their influences range from jam band greats The Grateful Dead to electronic pioneers Kraftwerk. Their self-described "jamtronica" tracks are full of funky beats, energizing rhythms, and screaming guitars that get even the most closeted dancers on their feet. Especially dazzling are their complex lighting arrangements, which create a truly unique stage atmosphere. The band keeps their shows thrillingly unpredictable with constantly varying setlists and frequent improvisation, but one thing they always deliver is a truly transcendent concert experience.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Electronic jam band Lotus formed in Indiana in 1999 while all five members were attending Goshen College. After playing local stages they made their recording debut in 2002 with the album Vibes, a compilation of live performances from the year before. A deal with Harmonized Records followed, and the band released three albums over the next three years, including 2004's Jammy-nominated Nomad. In 2006 they signed to SCI Fidelity Records and released the live double album Escaping Sargasso Sea, which was nominated for a Jammy award for Best Live Album of 2007. Over the next few years they continued to release albums at a steady rate and toured extensively in North America and Japan, typically playing around 100 shows a year. They've built much of their fanbase by word of mouth, encouraging concertgoers to record and share footage from their live shows. They've also become festival favorites, performing on stages at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Camp Bisco, Wakarusa, Rothbury, and more. In 2014 they released their eighth studio album Gilded Age, a stellar record comprised of six new rock tracks and four electronic remixes.
Got to see Lotus in a way like never before. Always amazing, and they jammed hard.
Awesome show and awesome people the band was great and the venue was good. Only complaint was that they charge for water at the venue instead of giving out for free.
This was my 4th LOTUS concert since 10.31.15. They just keep getting better and better. The crowd was great as usual and the Electric Factory the best indoor venue. They keep getting better choices for their opening act.
Lotus did absolutely amazing! I have nothing bad to say about them or the venue. The only thing I was a little upset with is that it started super early and ended early. Tycho started at 6 -and Lotus ended at 10! I came from 4 hours out of state to this show and completely missed tycho due to traffic and what not. Such a bummer: other then that it was an amazing performance and the venue had an amazing view of the philly skyline lights.
Lotus as always, makes you feel all the feels. The view was also spectacular and Tycho is amazing too!
May have been the sixth or seventh time I've seen Lotus and this was easily the best. The guys are always on point and keeping it fresh.
Great, very tight and well conceived show. The musicianship was fantastic, complimented by a tastefully dazzling light show. The crowd was great too. The sound is pure and stays with you. I woke up the next morning hearing the driving, upbeat rhythms. Go see 'em when you can.
Was really good the venue is huge and they jammed out.
I've always had a lot of respect for Lotus and their high energy, but admittedly hadn't seen them in a few years. They kicked it off with the classics, super spoodle funkity, but then got all...Unphreys, all...track jacket jam bandy. First show I've ever left the State Theater early for, let alone during the first set. My friend came in as we were leaving, went in, and came out before we could finish our cigarettes. Yeah, disappointing. I remember them as being innovative when I was big on the festival scene, but yeah it could have been Umphreys or Papadosio if I'd had my eyes closed. Hadnt listened to their new album, maybe that was the problem.
Exceeded expectation! Truly a wonderful show! Epic jams, loving vibes, greathe visuals!
Lotus was excellent as always. The lighting was phenomenal :)
The show was great! Lotus really played music for us all to enjoy. The light show was phenomenal....I especially loved the turquoise blue beams. I had a fabulous time dancing with my friends and celebrating with Lotus!!!!
Every single beat was in time and every single human there knew it. What a way to ring in a wonderful year. I love this band more and more each time i see them. I have met some of the most wonderful people at lotus shows. They produce such an energy! I'm still going 4 days later. My heart goes out to the girl who flipped the fuck out and beat up the security guard outside right before midnight. Your year can only get better from here! We have all been there.
LOTUS. ENOUGH SAID. IF YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THEM--DO IT NOW.
My girls first show ever and it was epic! Will always see Lotus when possible and my first show at the Fillmore was much better than I had expected. Thanks to everyone that put this on!!
Basically lotus performed amazing. I've seen them a few times and they never cease to impress. The vibe of the venue was also very chill. It was clean, spacious, and the sound quality was above average.
Played each set non stop, songs all combined. Very talented gentleman and a blast to watch.
Lotus killed it, as usual. So grateful for them and their Amazing jams and true fans.
Lotus is the Best ever! Awesome Set. Great crowd. Amazing venue.
Lotus were really tight and played a double set which was awesome. But I've got to say their performance was a little underwhelming. Perhaps it was because the warmup band Moon Hooch were incredible they brought energy and have a really unique style, highly recommend checking out their live show.
