About

What do Local Natives sound like?

If you distilled California into soundwaves and vibrations, it might resemble the sonic and spiritual interplay of the Los Angeles quintet--Taylor Rice [vocals, guitar], Kelcey Ayer [vocals, keys, percussion, guitar], Ryan Hahn [guitar, keys, mandolin, vocals], Matt Frazier [drums], and Nik Ewing [bass, keys, vocals].

Hills and valleys of six-string bliss, a coastal spray of neon keyboards, and sundrenched melodies comprise a growing catalog of entrancing and engaging anthems by the band. Based in Los Angeles, the group progressed their sound over the course of three full-length albums, Gorilla Manor [2009], Hummingbird [2013], and, most recently, Sunlit Youth [2016]. The latter received praise from Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound, The Guardian and many more. In between countless sold out shows and festival appearances - including a standout Coachella 2017 set - they've graced the stages of Austin City Limits, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show With James Corden, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and more.

That's what Local Natives sound like.

    Best Live Act Going.

    by Hipster187 on 5/3/10Masquerade - Atlanta

Their music is built for the sing along intimate show like this one. I doubt Atlanta will ever get a chance to see them in as small a venue as Masquerade. The show split my wig.

Local Natives, local crowd in harmony

    by Alto15 on 5/2/10Masquerade - Atlanta

The first time I heard Sun Hands I knew I wanted to see and hear this band. Fortunately, they came to the Masquerade. They are a little like a Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young for the current times. Great vocalists, great musicianship, great sound. They put on a solid show, with good energy. The openers were a nice lead-in.

    Eyes were wide

by fullcistern on 5/2/10Masquerade - Atlanta

This show was outstanding. Both Local and Natives and Suckers were so great. I had never heard Suckers' music and I enjoyed it so much. Their songs had a balance of wackiness and beautiful music, so good! They had such great energy too. And local natives were amazing. They played every single song off of Gorilla Manor. And the Suckers came back onstage and played with them late in the setlist. Everyone there knew all the words to all their songs and there was just so much excitement in the crowd (almost a mosh pit at one point--haha--but not really). If you get a chance to see them, gooooo!! Their music is so beautiful. Their voices are flawless and each one of them plays different types of instruments, which is really cool. Go and see them so you can (if you don't already) love them as much as I do!

    Local Natives was awesome

by AKlove on 5/2/10Masquerade - Atlanta

On their first tour date in Atlanta, I was blown away by their live performance. They sounded great, and we even got to talk to the drummer of the band at the merchandise booth. They seemed really down to earth, and very, very talented.
