  • Lizz was fantastic

    by Breitling001 on 4/12/10Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 4 out of 5

Lizz Wright was fabulous. Her voice was good and the venue was perfect for her and the band. The accompaniment was just right, and their sound was not above hers or out front of her. They did have a few technical issues that caused some sound problems in the middle of some pieces, so much so that she literally stopped one song in the middle of singing and apologized to the crowd. However she more than made up for it with the overall performance. Very professional and very good.

  • Lizz Wright & Richard Bona-A Night to Remember

by Concertsagogo on 4/12/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I purchased the tickets for my bass player SO to see Richard Bona. Lizz Wright walked out first with her own band, stood before the microphone and this magical voice filled The Towne Hall. She is amazing and she made us want to hear more from her! Richard Bona's music and technique are truly unique and exciting. We had a sense of what to expect because we both listen to his CD's quite frequently. Live he is electric on stage and his band played impeccably. He has also has a very different way of relating to his audience that was both humorous and interesting. Of the many concerts I have been lucky enough to attend, the evening with Lizz Wright and Richard Bona will remain to me one of the most memorable.

  • Absolutely amazing!

by lizzwrightfan on 4/11/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

From start to finish there was never a dull moment. Her voice is simply amazing and her band was spot on. When she sang the first note of the night there were goosebumps on my arm. Would love to see her again.

  • Lizz Wright is RIGHT!

    by JoseM18 on 4/11/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

This show was amazing! Admittedly, we, my Girlfriend and I, arrived late by just a few minutes and we were not aware that Liz was the OPENING ACT! Wow, will not make the same mistake again...her voice was just MAGIC! Looking forward to seeing her and Mr. OUTSTANDING Richard Bona wherever they may appear next in our area!

  • Lizz Wright is almost magically transcendent!

by Villanueva on 4/10/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I have rarely seen a performer -- in any medium -- so genuinely joyous while engaged in their art. Lizz Wright does, in fact, sing "as if no one's watching." That joy in her music is contagious, and her voice, technical range, and creative interpretation are magnificent. As the number of stars above say: amazing.

  • Lizz Wright is the voice of this new century.

by Drmzp on 4/10/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Lizz Wright three times, in three different settings: the Highline Ballroom, Jazz at Lincoln Center and now Town Hall. She has a voice that has the shimmers of Mahalia Jackson, the power of Aretha Franklin, the nuances of Sarah Vaughan, the musicality of Nina Simone and the joy of Ella Fitzgerald. In such a young woman, this is unbelievable. She commands the stage with a grace that makes me happy I'm alive to see and hear her. What an amazing artist; what an amazing person.

  • This concert was the best I have been to in years!

    by Kipper77 on 4/10/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Lizz Wright is not only a sight to behold, takes your breath away to just look at her, she is an unbelievably joy to listen to. She is by far the best singer , with a range and vocal quality that is not even apparent in her CDs. I loved the artist, the sound was wonderful, the venue comfortable!!! Richard Bona was a delight. Extremely talented. These two artist together was genius! Please do it again.!!

  • Lizz was amazing!!

    by LadyAlways5 on 4/10/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed her performance at Town Hall, NY! She started on time and captured her audience for the full 60+ minutes she was on stage. Her band was awesome! Could have enjoyed her for another hour! Come back soon!

  • Lizz Wails & Bona Charms the Crowd.

by jazznvocals on 4/10/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Liz Wright's voice is so full of passion and soul. Even her body language enhanced the experience of the music. The only criticism is that she could not sing longer. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and could have listened to her all night. I loved that she did a song with Richard Bona. It would have been cool for them to do the number together after her encore to transition to the next set. Richard Bona charmed the crowd. He showed great variety and range and has the presence of a true entertainer with the talent to back it up. Town Hall was a great location---it allowed for an intimate feel and I was seated at the back of the orchestra section. The acoustics were wonderful. I would go to a show there anytime.

  • OMG What a Show!

by Gramonthego on 4/10/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The entire evening was well worth the wait and the amount spent on the ticket and dinner in New York. Lizz Wright, of course, was the high point of the evening. Her sultry, soulful rendition of all of her hits was "supermagnifantastik" to say the least. You can feel in your soul that she is a very spiritual artist who brings her whole self into her songs. I do not know of any other singer with this kind of talent. In addition, Richard Bona was very good as well. He engaged the audience in his performance and delighted the crowd with his ability to be spontaneous and creative. A standing ovation to him as well.

  • Amazing Night!

by SusAlto on 4/10/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I went with a friend of mine and we were both mesmerized by Lizz Wright's performance! I would close my eyes and just listen to her voice and then open them and say "wow" I am really hearing this live, it was wonderful! Her voice is so warm, rich and powerful all at the same time! Makes me proud to be an alto...gotta love those lower voices. : ) Richard Bona was full of such great energy and fun! He was amazing with his voice, guitar(s) playing he was amazing. He did this crazy thing with his voice.. as in great thing by using a machine to do this awesome thing with his voice, I won't say because you have to hear it to believe it.

Great pairing and enjoyable evening - very cool and musically tight.

  • Lizz Wright - Best kept secret!

    by 1RD1 on 4/9/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Lizz Wright is a best kept secret - but not for long! I was not familiar with her, nor her music, before her concert at the Wilbur. I was enthralled as I sat groovin' to her sultry, crisp sound.and I was not alone in my thorough enjoyment - everyboody was jammin"! She can take some familiar tunes and transform them into something that is just "Wright"! She enjoys what she is doing and has great stage presence. Not only do you feel her music, men and women alike were fascinated by, and commenting about, her beauity and sex appeal. She rightfully received a standing "O" - something not easily achieved in Boston! I would go to see her again in a minute.

  • Breathtaking...

    by DDG1005 on 4/9/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

One of my favorite female volcalists, Liz Wright was right-on target. Her soulful depth of voice is mesmerizing and leaves you saying...WOW!.

  • Lizz Wright was Phenomenal!!

by DawnSherrie on 4/9/10Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I was just recently introduced to Lizz Wright's music and have come to absolutely love it. I love her style and her vibe too. This was a great concert and I would certainly recommend her to friends the next time she comes to the D.C. area.

  • liz was unforgettable!

    by elsy007 on 4/9/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Absolutely wonderful. Breathtaking really. We had hoped she would preform for what we consider her number one song "I'm Confessing" nevertheless we were still greatly pleased with her set selection. Thanks you Liz...keep doing what you do cause you do it SO well!

  • Lizz Wright was great

    by Ivana2 on 4/9/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Lizz Wright and her band were terrific. We loved the bass player, he was laying it down and funky. If she had sung 'Blue Rose' I would have given this concert 5 stars. She sang a lot of tunes from 'The Orchard'. Great delivery, heartfelt, great pitch and beautiful tone. No b.s., just honest, heartfelt and soulful music from musicians who play with the song in mind.

  • Ms. Lizz was MAGNIFICENT!!!

by MommaChe on 4/9/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Lizz Wright was AWESOME!! She has the most unforgettable voice I have ever heard. There was no idle chit-chat between songs, which I really appreciated. Her voice is a treasure. The 'sacred songs' she sang reminded me of Mahalia Jackson...POWERFUL! Whenever she is in Boston, I WILL BE THERE. I will also let all my friends know about her and her show.

  • couldnt take my eyes off her
