She was great and the venue was nice, but my waitress could have been more courteous.

  • Lizz is a real entertainer!

Bottom line: Lizz Wright is fresh, talented, and most importantly; humble! We really enjoyed the show and the small venue. It was emotional, soothing, and sooo enjoyable. Would recommend highly, for real music fans.

Lizz Wright's show was out of this world. It was my first time hearing and seeing her on stage and it was something different. Her voice was out of this world. She is a very talented and beautiful woman with a voice that will light up any room. I look forward to seeing her again when she comes to town.

  • Lizz Wright deserves to be a household name!

Lizz Wright fills the air with her rich voice and graceful energy from the moment she begins until the final bow... a luminous talent and a beautiful soul.

  • Lizz Wright: grace & inspiration personified

    by mjd2 on 2/14/11Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Lizz Wright's voice is amazing. Anyone who has heard her CDs knows that. But her live performance goes to another level altogether because you are privileged to see her grace and joy as she sings. She stated at the beginning that she wouldn't do a lot of talking--and she didn't--but the music said it all. She captured everyone in the room with her beatific smile and the hearfelt feeling in her songcraft. One man kept shouting "beautiful" which became a bit of a friendly joke with Wright but he was absolutely right. BEAUTIFUL.

Lizz Wright is a true performer and an amazing talent! I had never before heard any of Lizz Wright's music and purchased tickets to this show as a gift to a friend who has been a fan of hers for years. As a first-timer, I was absolutely enthralled with Lizz Wright's performance. Her voice was mesmerizing. I love that her style is so simple, yet captivating. She doesn't need fancy clothes, hair, or frills... just her passionate voice. You can tell this woman loves her music, and watching her on stage makes you feel just as passionate as she is. I would definitely love the chance to see Lizz Wright again. Amazing!!!

Ms. Wright is simply the best at what she does and in a league of her own. She held the audience captive. I would say we were caught up in the rapture of Lizz. I came home to find her new album & to see where she'll be next. Lizz Wright is a legend in the making and I hope to hear her share her gift for years to come.

It had been 6 years since I'd seen Lizz perform live. I was so excited and really looking forward to this concert. However, I was highly disappointed since she only sang for 1.5 hours!!!! What the heck happened?? I was jipped and ripped off!!!

I saw Lizz Wright in concert in San Antonio last night! It was the best concert I have ever seen! I have been a fan for about 5 years and i don't think a week has gone by since I first bought "Salt" that I haven't listened to something of hers! Last night Ms Wright was... I can't even tell you! She is the best performer I have ever seen live. And I've seen some amazing ppl! Her band was killer, and she sang flawlessly! So much passion! It's been a long time since I've seen someone sing with that much joy! As a singer myself (who's been experiencing some burn-out) this was soooo inspirational! Thank you Lizz Wright for a night I will never forget! COME TO AUSTIN, TX! WE NEED YOU!

  • The Phenomenal Lizz Wright ~

by SwanShadow on 6/13/10Jo Long Theatre - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

Between songs, Lizz Wright mentioned that before she takes to the stage w/ her band, they gather together and pray. Last night she reflected on scripture that related "We are all of one breath...We are of that same origin & are all connected." Beautiful words, from a beautiful & talented woman. Comparisons made of Lizz Wright's vocal style to Abbey Lincoln & Nina Simone are not accurate. Lizz Wright's vocals invoke a passion like Donny Hathaway & the glory of Mahalia Jackson. I'm left with impressions of a rather unique artist that is on a journey of sorts. She interprets songs from a number of genres, Jazz, Blues, Rock & Gospel and makes them her own. I, along with many people, left the theatre last night in wonder & awe knowing we had witnessed an amazing performance. Peace ~

  • I'm still in awe.

Last night I went to go see Lizz Wright in concert in San Antonio. I heard that she is an up and coming soon to be famous jazz singer; mere words cannot describe the wonderful talent I witnessed last night. She has been compared to Nina Simone, Billy Holiday, Sade, Anita Baker. But none of those descriptions come close. She is her own genre. Her angelic voice. Her poise. Her power. Her grace. I was moved to tears more than once and my hands still sting from the applause. At the end of the evening she only did one encore though the entire audience was up on its feet begging for more! She had a four piece band; the standard smooth drummer, bass player, lead guitarist and keyboard. But the latter two played the dual roll that she did. The guitarist switched from electric guitar to acoustic as the keyboardist switched from grand piano to church organ as she switched from light jazz to gospel. Yet it wasn't true jazz or gospel but a heavenly blend of the two. She sang with spirit, with her soul, with every fiber of her being. I was mesmerized, smitten. I so wanted to personally thank her at the end of the show for having made a profound impact me. Imagine: Her father never let her listen to anything- anything at all - other than gospel, till she was 18. Now, I imagine she is in her very young twenties, she is trying to play catch up with all the other great music and musicians. Raw. Untouched. Not influenced by any other style, thus able to create one of her own. Her performance still leaves me in awe this morning. You have blessed us all with this wonderful gift bestowed upon you Lizz. Thank you.

What an amazing performance. Her voice is great, it goes right to your spirit.

  • Lizz captivates once again

by CMLovesJLegend on 4/13/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Lizz never disappoints. She is soulful and heartfelt. I do not think Town Hall was the venue for her, as the limitations put on her by the staff seemed to shake her spirit a tad. She mentioned a couple of times that she only had 60 minutes because it was a Union, etc. While showing respect, I think she also felt limited. However, her performance was still moving and inspiring, and I am sure a great time was had by all---not just the audience but the band as well.

Amazing voice, great stage presence, great sidemen.....what's not to like? Lizz has the ability to bring in her audience and make the music theirs....as well as her's. Can't wait for her newest CD to release. Come back to Boston soon, Lizz.
