LIZA MINNELLI IN CONCERT:

As long as Liza Minnelli continues to cast her spell over captivated concertgoers, life will remain a cabaret, ol' chum. Nearly 50 years after she made her stage debut, the Broadway legend turned Hollywood superstar remains an indefatigable performer, thrilling fans around the world with nostalgic performances of beloved classics like "New York, New York" and "Say Liza (Liza with a 'Z')." Following a string of critically acclaimed 2013 performances alongside Cabaret co-star Alan Cumming, Liza has fans busting down box office doors for tickets to her coveted 2014 tour dates, which include a lushly orchestrated appearance alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the city's iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The daughter of Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli, Liza is Hollywood royalty by birth, appearing in her first film at age three. Far from relying on her pedigree, Liza trained extensively as a child, achieving success on her own terms with her considerable talents as an actress, singer, and performer. Following several major roles in the late '60s, Liza launched to international superstardom for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in Bob Fosse's 1972 smash Cabaret, taking home the Oscar for Best Actress. A laundry list of successful films, albums, and television specials followed, cementing her role as one of the most enduring icons in American popular culture.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The show was just so Liza. She was everything you ever want to see in an artist. She pays attention to detail, tells stories, and makes it her own."

"The show was absolutely amazing. Liza still can sing , move and crack jokes as if she was 35."

"Liza with a Z is still on top of her game. At 67, her energy, vocals, humor, and pizzazz light up the stage."

    Liza with a "Z"

by Done11 on 2/19/14Broward Center for the Performing Arts Au Rene Theater - Ft Lauderdale

I'd never seen Ms. Minnelli perform on stage before... Wow! She can really sing! In spite of injuring her ankle earlier in the day, she "danced" from her chair on which she sat and performed most of the event. If was cute to watch her feet/legs in the air as though she was dancing on her feet. With a few water breaks mid-song, she could really belt those notes out! I can't believe she can still sing that well.

    Liza is a legendary entertainer!

by MBFan10 on 2/19/14Broward Center for the Performing Arts Au Rene Theater - Ft Lauderdale

Liza is amazing. She does not need a big production. She relies only on her talent which fills up the entire venue. It felt like you were in her house or a small intimate bar and just chatting and singing around the grand piano. It's the 3rd time I've seen her in 20 years and she is only better.

Liza is STILL so dynamic; I had seen her in Boston about 30 years ago. I did enjoy this concert as well; I sure missed the dancing though!

    Wonderful Evening

by Anonymous on 11/11/13The MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mashantucket

Liza fills the stage with her great ability. Her range is not what it used to be, but she sure can sell a song. Her throat problems from her time on the Broadway stage in Victor/Victoria have never gone away. On a few of her bigger numbers she had to try a few times to hit the notes. All in all it was a great evening and people should see her if they never had or even if they have seen her several times like myself. Liza you are still a bright shining star!!!

    Only if you love Liza

by PeterJZ on 10/2/13Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic City

I enjoyed Liza. I saw her a few years back when she did her show at the Palace in NYC. That was an amazing show. She was in very good form then vocally. This time? Eh. Not so much. I'll give it to her for getting up there and still performing, but quite frankly stopping midway through "New York New York" because you were rushing, i.e. had to catch your breath, well just is a little over the top. Still, I had fun. It was a hoot to see her, but do not expect her to be able to hit or maintain any of the notes.

Liza has faded...but I would see her again...

by Wildwood1313 on 10/1/13Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Her show was show business at it's best. A tight band...phrasing of the lyrics simply Liza, and the love of her audience inspiring. The voice isn't all there anymore...but it doesn't matter...Liza is Liza. From the beginning...she asked that the house lights be turned up so she could see her audience. She owned the audience after that. It's a little sad to see her sitting so much in a director's chair...but she was there - performing...Thanks Liza!

    Liza's still got it!

by Broadwaylover2013 on 10/1/13Caesar's Circus Maximus Theatre - Atlantic City

Although the concert was shorter than I'd hoped (not quite 90 minutes), Liza brought out her old standards and some new songs. She's clearly not at her physical best - needed to sit during some numbers - but she's from the "old school" and pulls out all the stops to perform. There are a lot of current artists that could learn from her. Each number has a performance aspect to it - especially apparent in Charles Aznavour's "What Makes a Man a Man" - which apparently annoyed some audience members because they left right afterwards. Further disappointed in the audience's behavior - many left after her final number - and I think she only did 1 encore because of this. Some of her big notes are not quite what they were, but I felt I got more than my money's worth in the overall performance. Her musical director, Billy Stritch, who also performs solo and in a duet with Liza, is also an amazing musician.

    unforgetable show

by webbill on 10/1/13Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Liza can still keep an audience mesmerized. I might be prejudice since I have been a fan for many years (only concert I have been to where I could lip sync every number). theater was perfect, lighting sound all prime. Only down side since it was so good the time went entirely too fast.

    Oh Liza...

by tonybkc on 10/1/13Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Liza put on a good show however, you could see she struggled. Her voice was weak. No matter I'm a fan. She should think about a farewell tour and end on a positive note.

    Great show!

by PSBChris on 10/1/13Circus Maximus Theatre, Caesar's Palace - Atlantic City

I just went to see Liza last weekend, and she was fantastic. True, her voice is not what it was 20 years ago, but still sounded good and was very emotional with each song. After the first song, she asked for the house lights to be turned up so she could see everyone. She did the hits "Teach Me Tonight", "Liza with a 'Z'", "Maybe This Time", "Cabaret", and "New York, New York". The show wasn't long, maybe an hour and 20 minutes. She was very interactive with the audience, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Liza is a legend, and not to be missed.

    Disappointing show

by MATraveller on 10/1/13Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic City

The Liza Minnelli show was shorter than expected given her body of work. The show was about an hour including one song by her bandleader. Ms. Minnelli looked unsteady and out of breath during the entire show and her enunciation was muddled. I was also surprised by the number of people in the crowd (which tended to elderly) that began to file out about midway through the event.

    Still has the personality

by marblr on 10/1/13Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic City

The show was great. Her voice is not like it was but the personality is still there. Just listening to her was enough. Unfortunately it appears she has back and leg issues but Liza, keep on going as long as you can.

    Liza

by Anonymous on 6/12/13Bardavon 1869 Opera House - Poughkeepsie

Since the age of 5, when my parents took me to Las Vegas with them and we saw her perform at the Sahara Hotel, Liza has always been one of my favorite performers. I have seen her twice since then, both times at Carnegie Hall. This concert, however, was much more than a disappointment; we were MORTIFIED. Not only couldn't she hit any high notes, (which I can forgive), but she couldn't remember lyrics or even the order of her songs, Thank God Billy Stritch kept coaching her on what to sing. The concert lasted 1 hr. and 20 mins., when it should have been a 2 hour concert. She cut her show short by 35 mins. All my life, I was a devoted fan of hers, but now I have to cringe at the thought of her last concert. She is a legend, and she should hang up her microphone for good, while the wonderful memories still shine. We paid good money to see Liza and we felt cheated. We will never see another concert at the Bardavon again.
