  • Lily Tomlin

by Pupples on 4/25/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Lily was fun. She did mostly new material, but fortunately, she referred back to some of her former characters. It was a nice walk down memory lane. She is inspiringly energetic.

  • Lily is still the best there is!

by horseLUVR on 4/20/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

What a performer. What a performance. We felt special getting to see this incredible long-lasting woman doing her creative thing. During some parts of her evening she reprised characters we know and love from the past - Edith Ann, Ernestine, Tess/Trudy. And videos of many others requiring makeup changes too challenging and time-consuming for a live performance. The whole thing was was just too awesome to miss - so if you get a chance to see it, please please treat yourself. After the performance, she stuck around to chat with the audience - real give-and-take, back-and-forth; not the usual "Q and A" .... The best thing about Tomlin is that her humor encapsulates a truth, touches her audience in some way well beyond the laughter. Theatre is fantastic - the renovated Balboa Theatre is small enough to feel almost intimate compared to larger, impersonal venues. Well located, easy parking 1 block away (Horton Plaza). Great restaurants immediately across the street.

Been loving this woman since the Laugh-In days! She is so totally human and herself. She is a natural performer.

We had a wonderful evening at Lily's performance. Her act is quite relevant for today. I wish her luck with her upcoming show.

I'm a huge fan of Lily Tomlin and she never disappoints. Her humor and grace makes her one of the greatest comedians of all time.

Thought Lily was wonderful. There is nothing more theraputic than a good laugh. She was terrific.

  • Quite enjoyable

by Vickluvnd on 4/19/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Lily Tomlin is still quite amazing after all this time. She can really work the crowd. Totally enjoyed her characters Ernestine and the skits on the phone company and insurance company. Quite hilarious.

  • Spry as ever!

by BHelevator on 4/19/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Took my 25-year-old niece and was afraid she might not enjoy show as she was born long after Lily's iconic days on "Laugh In". We both loved the show and my niece posted this on Facebook, "Smart as a whip and spry as ever." We were amazed by Lily's physical comedy and ability to move with such fluidity throughout the show. She inspired us both to work on our flexibility. Lily's humility, heart, creative thinking and perfect comedic timing made for a memorable show and evening. So grateful she has been recognized as a Kennedy Center Honoree. Lily is a national treasure! Thanks for coming to San Diego.

  • Lily Tomlin was unforgettable

by lilpiggy on 4/19/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I can't believe how incredibly funny she was. I laughed from the moment we sat down until the time we left. I also could not believe what great shape she was in. She sat on the floor & then bounced right up again & I can barely do that & I am not in my 70's. She was hysterical & I would recommend this show to anyone. I can't wait for the next season of Grace & Frankie to start- Yay!

Absolutely hysterical! GREAT SHOW!! Lily did skits from all her former characters and was Personable with the audience!

  • Lily Tomlin's Odd Show

by DonnaSanDiego on 4/19/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

I thought Lily performed a very odd show. The audience couldn't tell what was real and what was planned. She first did a lot of one-liners, and the audience laughed so long that she had to interrupt the noise to start the next one-liner, so often I couldn't hear the start of one. She wandered around the stage like she was lost, had a coughing fit and had to sit down and drink water (perhaps planned, but not funny), often said she forgot her next line, or that she was sitting there attempting to make up a joke. She didn't use ANY costumes, and didn't do her "little girl in the big chair" routine, which was always one of my favorites. I think the show ran on too long because of all her hesitation and breaks, and I left while she was reading and responding to letters. Quite honestly, I expected better from her.

  • Lily Tomlin Still Brilliant After All These Years

by TeeTeeKat on 4/19/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Lily's and Jane Wagner's observations of life remind us of how little we know about everyday life around us. From "Laugh-In" to today, Lily is still brilliant.

  • Worst comedy show I ever paid to see

by RCBB on 4/19/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 1 out of 5

I've always loved lily tomlin on tv . This one woman show of hers was so disappointing . The lack of laughter around me confirmed my own belief that lily blew this one , Big Time. As a side note the theatre was way to warm especially in the balcony.

  • Lily was incredible - as usual!!!

    by Bluemoon5 on 4/19/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

There is nobody like our Lily! Our generation is so truly fortunate to have the unmatched Lily and Jane team that has shared with us the lighter side of life. Her performance in San Diego was yet another "best" show and the entire audience laughed and clapped throughout. Just Unforgettable!

  • peak experience

by Tatero on 4/19/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

This is the fifth time I have seen Lily live on stage. All were amazing. This time she answered audience questions at the end. It was great to get the unscripted responses.

  • She forgot several jokes

    by HighTop01010 on 4/19/16Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

I was really looking forward to seeing Lilly Tomlin. Unfortunately, the performance was not as I hoped. Lilly seemed confused. She lost her place when telling a story and would try to start over and she would do it again. Lilly kept repeating that she forgot this was her last show. I don't if this was a joke or a realization that she shouldn't do standup anymore. The questions and answers section afterwards kind of redeemed her.

  • Great concert

What a fantastic show! Refreshing that material was what made her famous as well as new material for those that haven't known her over the years!

Funny! Sound quality in theatre was awful. Missed several punch lines.

  • Dissapointed

    by Joe27312 on 2/11/16Carolina Theatre - DurhamRating: 2 out of 5

It was very nostalgic, but I expected more. Therefore the disappointment. The production was a little less than professional as the regular producer was ill and a fill-in was running the show (disjointedly). Therefore the production was second rate while the price we paid for the tickets were still first rate. Over the years we've seen Lily on Broadway many times so we know what level of professionalism to expect for our $.
