    Lily Tomlin

by tbm3572 on 1/14/10Lakeland Center Youkey Theatre - Lakeland

It was a very intimate performance. There were times when you could sense her anxiety over performing. She was funny, as expected. The show was not high energy, more low key story telling. She really forgot to do her switch board operator character until the very end of the show. She did about 5 minutes of that character then. Very enjoyable and personal.

    Lily was fantastic!

by ChrisinFL on 1/14/10Lakeland Center Youkey Theatre - Lakeland

Lily hopped onto the stage and went non-stop for two hours. She performed dozens of monologues about her childhood, her family, her early years in show business, and the like. Woven into these were moments with your all-time favorite characters -- mostly from the days of Laugh-In. Many of her jokes and comments made you stop and think -- and some have stayed with me still. She cared about the audience, referenced local places and events, and made me do so much more than laugh. As I stated earlier, I came away THINKING about life quite a bit. She also took questions from the audience before the show (cards in the lobby) and, as an encore, answered about ten questions.

    Wonderfully Funny

    by Exciting2 on 11/23/09F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

I really loved Lily Tomlin, The only thing I would have changed is she started out with all the characters. Witch was very very funny. But I found myself a little bored at the end. If she mixed it up a little more it won't have had any dry spots in it. Overall I was so pleased that you brought such Funny ,Exciting and Exceptionally Talented Lady ( Lily Tomlin ) to The Kirby .

She walkled out onto the stage, or should I say ran out, and never stopped until 1 hr and 45 min later. Continutous non stop jokes and routines. What a vocabulary! Totally enjoyable evening BRAVO

    Lily Never Fails to Deliver

    by sisyphus101 on 11/23/09F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

I saw Lily about 10 years ago in NYC and was completely blown away at her energy, sense of timing and her ability to draw upon every emotion in the pot. This time, in a smaller venue and ten years on, she appeared as fresh as ever. So much fun, you just want to take her home!

    Disappointed in Tomlin

by Huldy on 10/5/09Paramount Theatre - Aurora

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed in the performance. I have not been to stand up comedy before. The stage setting was so stark and looked lonesome--just black and white. I would at least liked to have seen her in the big chair when she did Edith Ann and a set up switchboard . Also, we were a few minutes late in arriving and were seated in the back row ( until the intermission-they said) there was no intermission and we stayed there the whole time. The ushers never came to take us to our seats. I did not appreciate that.

This was the first time that I had seen the show. It was great. I guess that she is what you think that she would be. Very down to earth. Interacts with audience members. Does all of the characters that you would expect, and very well I might add. She is a very funny lady and I think you would really enjoy the show. In a theater full of people it still seems like she just sat down to have a chat with you. I loved it!! Had never been to the Paramount Theater in Illinois, the theater itself is simply amazing!! Beautiful!!

    Lily Tomlin lots of laughs!!!

by boobah on 10/3/09Paramount Theatre - Aurora

This show was a gift to my Father and it was the best gift we could have given him. Lily made him laugh the whole performance. She was vibrant and very animated and oh so funny. It was great to see her and if she comes back into this area I would take my parents again . My Father who normally falls asleep early, being in his mid 80's never dozed off which in my book shows Lily Tomlin was indeed a success in my eyes as well as my Parent's . It was a wonderful performance and well worth the time and price of the tickets. Loved seeing Edith Ann and how Lily rolled on the stage floor acting like a small child to be the character... She truly is a great comedian and has a wonderful stage presence. She interacted with the audience brilliantly, right down to the few over-anxious fans who loved shouting out comments to her. Laughs all around. She made two hours just fly by and made all of us feel like we were friends with her. Her comedy routine touched on many of todays topics and she did it in such a funny way. I loved her routine with Ernestine, as the claims department operator for a medical insurance company....her jokes really ripped the issues we face today.Lily is indeed a true performer and such a gracious lady. She still has her youthful appearance and to me seems not to have aged at all and that was echoed by my family who also attended. Thank you Lily, for giving my Dad and Mom as well the gift of laughter. We love you!!!

Love Lily - so smart, funny, real

by Lynnwilb on 10/3/09Paramount Theatre - Aurora

Such energy from start to finish. Handled well the few less than courteous, interrupting audience members. Great regional oriented chat at the beginning was entertaining. But, it's the show itself that knocks it out of the park. So well-written and beautifully presented by a real pro. Despite some breathing problems (she used her inhaler at one point) she was so full of energy and fun. Just love her. What can I say?
