In the world of comedy there are those that are just joke tellers and then there are a few that have a command of the stage, Lily Tomlin is in total command. At age 76 she is a butterfly on the stage moving all around from her chair and table to a stairway and all over the stage it self. She moved from one caricature to the next with ease and grace. The story telling is at best warm and wonderful with a scattering of jokes added in. I only hope she stays around for many more years to bring joy and laughter to us all.
Went to see Lily Tomlin with 3 friends, all old enough to have a full appreciation of her career. Honestly, she just wasn't that funny. The show was kind of disjointed, partially because her stage manager was out sick. Even making allowances for that, I never really had a good laugh during the show-a few chuckles.
Loved Lily Tomlin. She's still energetic, funny, and relevant after all of these years. Definitely would recommend her act. However, the Carolina Theater is in bad need of an update. Old cramped seats are uncomfortable at best. Gotta love the act to sit through two hours of that seating.
Energetic, played the old parts we love from Laugh-In and the new ones, too. She is so spry & giving to the audience. So natural & funny. LOVED it.
I very much like Lily Tomlin in her many personas, so I went to the Carolina Theater expecting a fun evening. While there were certainly some very nice moments, her timing seemed a bit off and many of the jokes were older ones that I had heard before. I am a fan of her new show, Frankie and Grace, and feel she is very strong in that show. I hope she continues to perform, but perhaps she needs to update her material a bit. Particularly given the ticket prices.
Fun show. ZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZzzz
Lilly was great. Funny and timely. Stage manager out suddenly with pneumonia and had to get a friend to fill in. It actually lead to several comical moments. Plaster fell from ceiling and she again turned it into a moment. Energetic and lots of positive energy. She was on my bucket list. She did not disappoint.
Spending an evening with Lily Tomlin was awesome! She had all of her characters there, and it was enjoyed by everyone. Non-stop laughter for at LEAST 90 minutes. Then she did a Q&A session. Can't remember the last time we laughed so hard!!!
Worth seeing because its Lily, but not the best. Too many videos of past TV performances as opposed to doing some of those routines "live". I could watch the videos at home.
Haven't laughed that much in a long time. Lily was awesome and lived up to the expectations I had of her. Thank you Lily for a great evening of laughs!
Cannot believe how much fun we had at the show. Tons of laughs, memories, and moments that will continue to be talked about. I saw Lily years ago on Broadway, "Search for Signs of Intelligent Life". It was great to see moments of that show slipped into this very CURRENT material. It was fun to see Edith Anne and Ernestine will her new approach and talking about issues of today. An all around GREAT time. 75 and fabulous! Lily can do anything and is able to say so much, just with a look. Truly a talent!
This Lily Tomlin show absolutely stunk. Show was juvenile, unfunny and a total waste of money!!
This was the funniest I've seen Lily and I've attended many shows. This performance was 2 hours of solid laughs and "that's the truth" moments. A great mix of old and new sketches by one of the finest comedians ever. Don't miss this if she is near you!
Lily, is literally 'The Greatest Show on Earth.' She constantly engages the audience with wit and charm throughout the entirety of her show. She has the spontaneous ability to keep one laughing 'out loud' throughout the entire performance. She never misses a beat and gives everything she has, mixing great American humor with her lovely delight and charm she has the beautiful ability to make one feel, as if they are sitting in the living room of their funniest relative, reminiscing about by gone days, and that, with a modern and genuine showdown of hilarious! LILY, is a must see, you will love her and want to share the experience with everyone else you love and "That's the Truth!"
I've grown up watching Lily Tomlin, and seeing her perform live was a dream come true. She put on a fabulous show, and aside from the great seats and good sound quality (other performances I've attended have had mixed sound quality at this venue),Lily gave her best, and it was worth every penny.
Thought the show was good. She did a variety of things.
Lily Tomlin is a comedy icon. The audience was filled to capacity with fans like me who hoped to see her current spin on the world as well as glimpses of past characters like Ernestine the Bell telephone operator or Edith Ann in her rocking chair. No problem with that as snippets of original footage of Lily doing her classic characters were sprinkled throughout the show. The quality of the videos suffered a bit by age but who cares - they were gems! Much to my delight (and that of everyone else), she did Ernestine and Edith Ann live with updated material. Lily as her alter-ego Trudy the homeless bag lady was my favorite part of the evening. Trudy like Lily, always tells it like it is through her own unique world view. It was heartbreakingly funny. Lily does not hold back. At the end of the evening, she did a Q & A with the audience. Her answers were funny and frank, and nothing was taboo. If you are searching for signs of intelligent life in the universe, go see Lily Tomlin. She's a national treasure!
Somehow I mixed up the rescheduled date and I showed up on Saturday, the 23rd. I had bought the tickets way back in September and and had so been looking forward to it. Lily has been one of my favorite comedians since watching her on Laugh-In as a kid in the 70s. This was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am just so bummed.
Saw Lily for the 4th or 5th time. She still is able to spellbind the audience when she tells a story, and her characters are alive and well. I do wish some of the material was a little fresher - I remembered maybe 20 -25 percent of the material from other shows. The woman is a national treasure.
