About

Leslie Odom, Jr. is a Tony and Grammy Award-winning, three-time Emmy and two-time Academy Award-nominated songwriter, actor, and a New York Times bestselling author. Well known for his breakout role as 'Aaron Burr' in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical Hamilton, Odom recently made a highly anticipated return to his award-winning role on September 9 through November 26. Last season, he made his long-awaited return to Broadway as a producer, alongside his beloved Nicolette Robinson and the gracious Jeffrey Richards, with the classic American comedy Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch written by the legendary Ossie Davis. The revival opened to widespread critical acclaim. Odom was Tony-nominated for his performance, and the production received six nominations and one win. Odom has continued to captivate audiences across film and television including his star turn as legendary soul singer Sam Cooke in the Amazon film adaptation of One Night in Miami, directed by Regina King. His lauded portrayal of the soul icon and musical performance of original song "Speak Now" earned him multiple awards and nominations. Additional film and television credits include Rian Johnson's record-breaking 2022 Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, for Netflix, The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel to David Chase's award-winning HBO series The Sopranos, Apple TV+'s Central Park (2020 Emmy nomination), Hamilton on Disney+ (2021 Emmy nomination), host of "The Tony Awards Present: Broadway's Back!" on CBS (2022 Emmy nomination), Abbott Elementary, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Harriet, and many more. In March 2018, Odom added the title of author to his resume with the release of his book - Failing Up: How to Take Risks, Aim Higher and Never Stop Learning, which was recently released in paperback in March 2025. Co-written with Nicolette Robinson, Odom's first children's book, I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know, was published by Feiwel & Friends in March 2023. The book debuted on the New York Times bestseller list at #7 in its first week. Odom has released six full-length albums. by Jack on 12/16/24Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Leslie Odom and his band was nothing short of spectacular. The flow of the show as well as the Christmas themed atmosphere was entirely incredible. I’ve been a fan of Leslie Odom Jr. for some time but to hear him live was single-handedly one of the best treasures of my life from a musician. He was also kind enough to shake my hand after the show as I expressed gratitude for his performance. I look forward to future performances of his.

  • amazing

by emcfish on 12/16/24Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Leslie Odom Junior was outstanding. His band was incredibly tight and comprised of some really talented musicians. at Atlanta Symphony Hall is a great place to see a musical event. Now if we could just get the audience members to stop talking (over the performer) and screaming out as if it’s their own private concert …

  • Come back to Atlanta!!!

  • Great show

by Imani on 6/3/24Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the show. Leslie Odom was fantastic and the musicians equally so. The only drawback was the stage lighting was minimized making it very difficult to actually see the performers.

  • Needs improvement

by Ron G. on 5/29/24Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 4 out of 5

Was anticipating seeing him on the holiday weekend. No intro to the audience or acknowledgement of his fans or audience. Just came in and started singing for quite a bit before even saying anything. He spoke too softly and couldn’t hear what he was saying at times . I just felt he could have done a lot better. Otherwise the music and his band were good.

  • Great Night

by rookieconcertgoer on 4/28/24Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

First time to Pantages Theater - what a fantastic venue. Loved that it was smaller than Orpheum & State Theater, and did not feel cramped in the seats (nice in comparison to State in particular!) Leslie did not disappoint - he had 4 folks accompany him (piano, guitar, bass, drums) and the ensemble was fantastic. This was not big sound/lights show - just fabulous music.

  • So glad we went!!

Leslie Odom Jr was fabulous! Just him and his musicians! We heard all genres of music and enjoyed it all. His new CD sounds like it’s on point and creative. He’s got the sweetest disposition, great smile and a bright light in his spirit!! Bravo to him and his future success! We loved the show! The theater was perfect for this show too!!

  • Amazing performer

by Gabriela on 4/24/24Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

LOJr was absolutely fantastic, played a huge assortment of music: crooners, gospel, self written, and of course...Hamilton. He is a class act and I was disappointed that every seat wasn't filled. His accompanying band was also great. Highly recommend.

  • Amazing performance.

Just breathtaking. I went with my mom as we are both huge Leslie fans. The intimacy of the theater and his range made this experience perfect. Would gladly see him again.

This is the second time I’ve seen Leslie Odom Jr. His voice and sincerity are pure and clean. He did his songs, sang our favorites from shows and movies he’s starred in and moved us all with classics from some of the greats. He’s a treat to see and I didn’t want it to end.
