About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

  • Sisters Night Out

by Sandi on 7/26/25Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

My younger sister and I have decided to enjoy theater arts, especially musicals, now that we live near each other for the first time in over 40 years! Les Miserables was our first and we fell head over heels in love with it! To regain our passion for theater in such a glorious way is absolutely priceless. The cast was perfect, the talent stunning, and the setting very comfortable. We both were so moved by the vocal excellence...even to tears at times.

  • Incredible!

by First timer on 7/25/25Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible experience! My only confusion was with Éponine's character as the child actress and the adult actress looked nothing alike. I literally did not know the story line and did not connect the dots until I got home and read the program.

  • Wowed by Everything Except Acoustics

by TNDave on 7/25/25Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - ChattanoogaRating: 4 out of 5

Cast voices are incredible. Scenery was unbelievable. Memorial Auditorium, unfortunately has a deserved reputation for poor acoustics. Hard to understand some of the lyrics/spoken words, though I don't fault the actors for that.

DPAC Is a wonderful venue, this performance of Les Miserables was just wonderful. Felt like we were in a Broadway Theater with all of the excitement, enthusiasm and talent

  • Absolute perfection!!

by Donna on 7/23/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

From entry into DPAC to exiting was a pleasurable experience, as usual. The performance began at exactly the time stated. The set designs were impressive for such a small stage. From the director to the stage crew and the orchestra, nothing less than perfection. And then there is the cast! Oh. My. Gosh!! I studied voice in college. Their voices were a dream of which to listen. My favorite song from Les Miserable is Bring Him Home. The performance was flawless. They all brought forth such emotion in their performances. I cried three times, as did the lady sitting beside me and the gentleman sitting in front of me of me. I would love to see it again!

  • Incredible Show of Les Mis

by Fields on 7/23/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

Les Mis filled our family outing with joy from the incredible talent. Javert understudy blew us away with his intensity and voice. Always our favorite Broadway show.

  • Best Show at the Best Venue

by Karen B. on 7/22/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 2nd time seeing Les Mis and it didn't disappoint! The talent of the touring group is amazing and they left me in tears several times during the production. This was my husbands first time seeing a production like this and he was so impressed with the sets (as well as the cast). I know each time I see an event at the DPAC I will be greeted, starting with the person on the corner outside the venue, with a smile and a warm hello by everyone who works there. It is by far one of the best venues to see an production like this!

  • Outstanding Performance!

This was as good a performance and production as any show I've seen on Broadway!

  • Nice for a traveling show

by Alrighty then... on 7/22/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5

A classic Broadway play brought to DPAC with a lack of character development and emotion portrayed by many of the principles. Master of the House scene was outstanding because the actors put a slight twist on the portrayal of these characters that made you "love to hate"them while feeling "sorry"for them. The orchestra was too loud; drowning out the singers unless it was a choral number. The horns in the second half of the show were out of tune to the point that it hurt the listening ear. The casting needed work. The singers did not bring across the internal strife/emotions of the characters they portrayed. The singing was mainly yelling to hit the notes to be heard. Spotlighting of the characters was not done well; either they missed the character altogether or it lit the person up like they were escaping from prison. (pardon the pun) Not bad overall, but I have seen better traveling performances of this show.

  • A big Les MIs fan!

by Ursula on 7/22/25DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 4 out of 5

Great experience. The play seemed a little redacted probably because of the size of the theater, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The acoustics weren’t the best for an all musical. Overall, I loved the DPAC Center and have since booked another show.
