Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).
Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

We saw Les Mis at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, VA, Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024. It was an awesome production...from the fabulous sets, the special effects, to the incredible voices of the performers! It truly was one of the best performances, if not the best, of Les Mis we've ever seen!!
The play Les Misérables was fantastic in every sense of the word. The singing, the stage, the orchestra, and visual effects were wonderful and so well done. This was our first experience with a traveling Broadway show, and we were not disappointed. This was one play that we had wanted to see for a long time, especially after seeing the movie.
I thought that I had bought front row seating in the balcony Row A right. As it turned out, our seats were directly behind a section of descending seating with the inner wall of this section blocking our view. Our view was just the top half of the stage. At intermission I searched and finally found a manager who found 3 open seats in Orchestra. We had to wait in the lobby to be seated for 1/4 of the second act. As the usher led us to our seats she discovered that there were only 2 open seats and had us stand in an alcove until she could figure out what to do. 3/4 of the way through the second act she returned and offered a single seat. We finally were seated, separately with just 1/4 of the show remaining. Also many of the toilets in the women's loo were out of order causing incredibly long lines with many women still in line as the show began. Overall it was an expensive nightmare.
The performance was outstanding and moving. I have seen Les Mes many times and each performance has always been excellant!
I loved this musical performance! The performers were wonderful!
This production was amazing. This is the 7th time I have seen Les Mis, and the cast was so amazing! The new orchestrations, amazing new sets, lighting design and staging were so effective in bringing out key plot points that may have been glossed over or missed entirely in previous productions. All the actors were amazingly talented and soared on all their featured parts. I have continued to think about this show even days later. If you have seen Les Mis before you need to see this production. If you haven’t seen Les Mis before you need to see this production.
Wow! What a great show filled with amazing talent. The music, the stage props, the costumes were all excellent. Well worth the cost of the ticket. My first Broadway play, (CATS) was in the nineties and I still remember it. I will remember this one for the rest of my life.
This show was an outstanding experience! The music, the scenery and the actors were fabulous. The music never overpowered the singing which i had experienced in other shows and I was able to understand all the words in the songs. I would highly recommend this show to everyone!
This production was amazing! Glad we were able to see this terrific show!
Broadway-level singing, stagecraft. Great show! Highly recommend for anyone to go see this.
This was an amazing show! The cast was phenomenal! Powerful, emotional performances that brought me to tears.
The actors. their stunning voices, the scenery. Lighting, and sound effects were excellent. What an entertainment delight to have such talent grace our stage in Norfolk.
This stage production of Les Miserbles was quite enjoyable and well performed. Having a basic knowledge of the show’ s backstory, I was able to follow the play nicely, although I felt that earlier viewings in movie and television presentations provided a much fuller understanding of the play as compared to this live show. Despite the nearly 3 hour stage presentation, I felt that a few too many gaps to a complete understanding of Les Mis.
Enjoyed the show. It was easy booking with Ticketmaster but the layout does not exactly portray the actual layout of the venue in terms of aisles and area divisions.
I, like many people in the theater, had difficulty understanding what was going on during the first half of the performance. The mix of music and singing was overwhelming and because so many people were singing at the same time it was very difficult to comprehend what was happening. The second half of the performance was better. I did enjoy the special effects on stage. Overall I would not recommend this show to others who have not seen the movie nor read the book in advance.
The play was absolutely amazing! Love love it! Seats were great!!
I have seen Les Mis five times, from London to Norfolk over the past decades. This production in Norfolk was my favorite of all. The performances from the actors, the dramatic sets, the orchestra, all contributed to making this a wonderful event for my family.
It was a good show with dramatic lighting and sound effects. It didn't seem as good as the production I saw at Chrysler Hall about four years ago.
My husband and I saw the Friday show. I have seen it before on Broadway and am very familiar with the story. However my husband was not. I gave him a quick summary before the show but he had trouble following it. He also wears hearing aids and had them turned up as loud as possible. He could not understand the performers especially when they did not annunciate. And some sang so soft even I could not hear them. Aside from these audio issues the show was very good.
