Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, LES MISÉRABLES makes a triumphant return to Chicago. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).
Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, LES MISÉRABLES tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption - a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of LES MISÉRABLES includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.
I loved every moment. The music is wonderful and the story poignant.
Excellent, Simply The Best From the production to the performers
The actors were amazing the way they immersed themselves into the parts was nothing short of perfection. They transferred you to 1800s France. I need to give an even bigger shout out to the set and lighting crew. Their attention to detail really brought out the actors abilities yo bring you there.
The cast was top notch. The singing, scenery, props, costumes….everything was wonderful. Our orchestra level seats allowed us to see facial expressions which added more value to the performance.
Les Miserables is truly the best theatrical production ever. Through the years I have been fortunate to see it whenever it came to Chicago, and I hope to see it every time it comes back. I have seen many musicals throughout my life and none compare to Les Miserables. The beauty of the story, the amazing music, and the most powerful presentation that still brings tears to my eyes are what make me the biggest fan ever. I listen to the soundtrack in my car frequently and envision the performance in my mind. Please keep bringing it back - I and many others will be waiting!
This was an amazing performance and show. The crew were wonderful and sang beautifully, and the sets were amazing! I should have bought tickets to see it again! Over a week later, the songs are still ringing in my head, and I can still visualize the show. Awesome!
The performance and everything to do with the play was second to none! The seating was frustrating as I had a head in my view the entire time, so I watched with one eye and did more listening than viewing. But that is to be expected I guess. I'd still go again and just pick different seats.
Every single person was so beautifully casted. I was in absolute shock. I believe this was my 4th time seeing Les Mis, and this was by far the best production of it. Nick Cartell is the best Valjean I have ever seen, and that performance was definitely a top 5 in the best live performances I’ve ever seen by an actor. Special shout-out to Fantine as well, as her voice blew my away every time she sang a single note. Brava to all involved!
Wow! This show is phenomenal! I have attended theater and opera my entire life. This performance was extraordinary and one I look forward to enjoying again if the production returns to Chicago!
What a wonderful performance! I’ve seen it before, but this one really had the best cast
I loved the cultural diverse cast. It was amazing. The voices were excellent!!!! I had a wonderful time.
Les Mis was absolutely fabulous. The cast was great and we really enjoyed the event. The only downside was the Cadillac Palace Theatre. We arrived 15 minutes before the show was to begin. The doors were not yet open and there were many people waiting to get in. We were one of the fortunate ones - we got to our seats (in the dark) just as the musical was starting. Fourteen minutes later, the doors opened for 'late' arrivers. There were so many people that came in during this time that it was quite distracting. These people are not to blame. Why were the doors not open sooner? The web-site says doors open 45 minutes prior to the start of the performance. With only 15 minutes from the time the doors opened until the show began, there was no way to get all of the people in and seated. I hate to take off a star because the show was so great. Unfortunately, the theatre let many people down.
In my opinion, each performance was well executed and powerful; even the kiddos performance were well received- so cute. I was amazed at their talent and vocal range. Just wonderful. Well Dine!
I've been wanting to see this for the longest time. Absolutely amazing experience. Wonderful and very talented cast amazing voices. truly an unforgettable experience. The theatre ran like a very well oiled machine the staff where very helpful and very professional.
Talent throughout from start to finish. I hope all can see this wonderful play with those who were part of this one in Chicago (wherever they have an opportunity).
I have seen Les Mis several times - in Chicago and NY. This performance for sure had the best voices out of all the other shows I have seen.
I have seen this play before, probably 30 years ago, and I wondered if I would still like it! I loved it. There’s drama, war, romance, comedy-something for everyone. Although it’s a very long plat, everything about this play, especially the superb singing, makes time swiftly fly by! It is still my favorite play!!
The show was great, but two people were allowed to enter late, they did not know their seats and disrupted two entire sections for a whole song. When the usher did arrive, it took several minutes and they crossed through a row of seats instead of going around. They should have been forbidden from entering. Our tickets were expensive and we felt like 20 minutes of the first act had been ruined. Also, allowing snacks and drinks is disruptive and classless; because of the perfect acoustics of the theater, you can hear water bottles and candy wrappers crinkle throughout the performance.
Overall, this was a great production in all aspects. When I stopped trying to compare it to previous productions of the musical I appreciated the newest version even more.
It was a GREAT show. A wonderful evening filled with drama, laughter, beautiful music, voices and tears.
