From every aspect, this band and show was incredible. Every single member was amazing in theor own right. Cant wait until TH night at CoachHouse.
The band played well, but the sound mixing was terrible. Far too loud, with bad balancing of the instruments and singers. The job of sound mixing is much more than just pushing all the faders up to 11 and leaving them there.
The venue was amazing. Small intimate. Leonid & Friends we’re unbelievable & sounded amazing. I truly look forward to seeing them again. We sat in handicap section. I was the only 1 dancing & singing my heart 💜 out 🙏💕
We attended Leonid and Friends at Saban Theatre on December 4. The presentation was nothing short of spectacular. We took two couples who were not familiar, and were perhaps somewhat skeptical. Until after the first number. A perfect venue, with excellent sound. The band performed flawlessly, and was very engaging, even signing autographs following the show. I purchased a charity item auctioned during the show. As the band was prepping for the encore, My wife and I were invited to the stage to dance behind the band! And chat, shake hands and pose in the post performance photo that is online. We will see them again December 09 at Coachhouse. SRO, but who cares. An unforgettable experience. 🎶🎶🎶👏🏻👏🏻
staff was great. Seats were great. They checked for proof of vaccination, which made me more comfortable. Leonid & Friends know how to entertain. Can't wait for their return
Excellent, including their heavily produced videos, but, they would be much more effective in a bar/club setting. Also, a bit too much of the ‘little Brother’ comedian, once, for the intro was enough, just play the music, ya know?
Enjoyed the concert. Appreciated the quick vaccine check at the door. Fun to see the performers live instead of on Youtube. Songs were performed with mastery although instrunents overpowered the voices. A few band members tried to clown too much but otherwise a fun show.
Much, much more than a cover band, Leonid & Friends are consummate tribute band. The musicianship was outstanding and energy was at full charge all night. I've seen Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, and Blood Sweat & Tears all live, and this band is right up there with all of them. The best part is that the shows are not in giant venues, they're in smaller theaters and you're right there with them. Great show you will leave smiling ear to ear.
Enjoyed the music and if they return to Bay Area, I will not hesitate to watch them again.
It’s my first time seeing Leonor and Friends live and it was amazing. I can’t believe I didn’t found them earlier. Beautiful vocal, instruments, all together very high professional level. Love them a lot and will be following for sure.
Outside of the stellar performance, which was expected, my friends and I were blown away by how approachable and friendly the band was. We got to meet them at the end of the show, and chat for a spell with each member. Just a phenomenal concert and an amazing night out. Even the audience, which at first glace was suspended in a desiccated state of anabiosis eventually sloughed off their rigor, and by night's end, were dancing.
Leonid & Friends may be a "tribute" band, but the level of expertise and talent they bring to their work is a joy to experience. Most of their songs are covers of songs by the group Chicago, which is complex music, but L&F are able to pull it off with the energy and precision that one would hope for. The trumpet, trombone, and sax players are a gifted and entertaining trio, the drummer plays with endless heart, the new guitarist nails the original solos with artistry, and these descriptions could go on for every other member on stage. A special mention goes to Serge T, the Kiev-based singer who manages to replicate the distinctive appeal of Peter Cetera's vocals with amazing strength and accuracy. I'll add that this group genuinely enjoys itself on stage, making the experience for the audience all the better. Anyone who has ever loved Chicago's music will be treated to an unforgettable concert seeing this group. I can't recommend them enough.
Great musicians. The Neptune Theater was too small a venue for that large band. The seating arrangement is not good there. The rows need to be offset so there isn’t a seat directly in front of the seat behind.
Whether you're a fan of Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire or not, this band is a guaranteed great time. This is a group of the most talented musicians. Check them out on YouTube and you will become an instant fan. They are great entertainers and we couldn't stop smiling. Unfortunately, the staff at the Neptune were overzealous and put a cabaush on us having too much fun. While everyone was yelled at when in line entering the theater to show ID and vax cards like we were a bunch of mindless cattle and they were doing us a favor by letting us into the venue, it didn't stop there. We and the whole crowd were having so much fun enjoying the concert only to have the staff tapping on our shoulder then tersely telling us to "put your mask on in between sipping your drink". Seriously? didn't everyone just show our vax cards? Don't serve food and drinks if we are not allowed to enjoy. We will never go back to this venue again.
Audio met our standards, we are all audio professionals) and even thought we were in nosebled area, the array did really well for our ears.
First time seeing the best Russian Chicago cover band, and we weren't disappointed. Great musicians, great entertainers (without too much lost in cultural translation), and it's always great to see people who truly love what they're doing, no matter where they're at in the tour. Leonid and Friends didn't disappoint. One word to the Neptune or whomever is in charge of the sound: volume was fine, but the mix was off a little. Lots of moving parts in this big band, but the drums were consistently a little too forward, and the guitar was lost at times. Other than that: awesome venue with a professional, courteous staff.
Sweetwater Sound ruined the whole evening and I left after the first half. Vocals were distorted, drums were poorly miked and the whole performance just came out as noise at times. Too bad because it's a very good band and deserved much better.
The problem with touring shows is its very difficult to dial in the sound as the venue changes every night. The first song my wife and I looked at each other like "it's going to be a long night" as the vocals were conpletely drowned out by the band. But they made adjustments and it got better thoughtout the night, esoecially when multiple singers were diung harmony. The Neptune is a very live space and could benefit from sound treatment. The talent on stage was phenomenal. I just wish more emphasis was put on vocals instead of base and drums. But all in all, a great show, a wonderful band, and i had a great time!
I don't know whether it's that the venue has lousy acoustics or whether the mix man was drunk, but this was the loudest, most sound distorted concert I've been to since listening to crummy bands in dive bars as a college student. I had to leave after 4 numbers when it became abundantly clear that the situation wasn't going to get any better. Adding insult to injury was the tedious, decidedly NOT funny schtick by the manager Roman. Instead of simply introducing the band, he spent about 10 interminable minutes telling one stale joke after another. Pro Tip Roman: Keep your day job. Worse still were the antics on stage by the horn players, particular;y the sax player. These can only be described as something that would pass for a parody in an SNL skit. Take your meds next time, dude. If there were any way to get my money back, it would partly take away the sting of this bitter disappointment. I expected to hear the group of polished, talented musicians I saw on their You Tube videos. Instead, this was an insult to aficionados of Chicago and admirers of what are clearly talented musicians who desperately need to polish up their live act.
Leonid and Friends was an awesome show. Top notch musicians and Oleg the Sax player was worth the price of admission by himself. Very entertaining.
