About

LEON BRIDGES IN CONCERT:

Leon Bridges sings soul and gospel straight from the heart, forming an instant connection with audiences wherever he plays. His smoothly cool vocals recall Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, and fans can’t help but be transported to the ‘50s and ‘60s R&B heyday as he belts out songs like “Coming Home”, “Smooth Sailin’”, and “Better Man”. His backing band completes the Stax-inspired sound of these songs with reedy organs, melodic basslines, blaring sax, and female backing vocals. Leon Bridges is ready to bring his own R&B style and effortless croon on tour, much to the delight of fans aross the country.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Leon Bridges was born in Atlanta, GA in 1989, though he grew up in Fort Worth, TX. He began writing songs at a young age, learning simple guitar chords to accompany his lyrics. He was working as a dishwasher and playing open mic nights when he happened to befriend White Denim guitarist Austin Jenkins. With Jenkins’ assistance and vintage equipment, the singer was able to cut demo versions of “Coming Home” and “Lisa Sawyer” in 2014. After receiving over 800,000 streams of these songs, the singer signed with Columbia Records, promptly releasing “Coming Home” in 2015 as his first single. An album of the same name arrived in June and garnered critical acclaim for the songwriter’s classic style and poised songwriting. With fans eagerly awaiting a follow-up to his smash debut, Bridges continues to amass an ever-growing fanbase with his spiritually moving live performances on tour.

    Good effort, mediocre sojnd

    by Steve o on 9/10/22Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

Leon Bridges put on a good show, I’d say his style of music is maybe not best suited to an outdoor amphitheater. If you weren’t extremely familiar with his songs I don’t think you’d be able to tell one from another….lyrics were fairly unintelligible and the music was muddy.

The show never took off. It was kinda off a snooze fest with lots of mumbling and out of tune singing :( where was the performance? Little dragon was awesome though!!!

    LB in PDX

    by K. H. on 9/8/22Moda Center - Portland

Love Lean Bridges but his show was a disappointment compared to his last show we attended. I understand about having new songs and commitments to the record label but saving all of his great stuff to the end was frustrating.... Beer/alcohol service was a paid as you had to produce ID each time. Seems like they should have a band system for proving legal age after 1 ID check...

    Napa Venue

Of course Leon Bridges was great. The venue was awful.

    Amazing show, poor venue

by Caliroado on 9/7/22Oxbow RiverStage - Napa

Leon bridges and his band were phenomenal. The seating on top of unruly attendees made it hard to enjoy the show. The seating was placed in a way where unless you stood you could not see much of the stage. I would not see a show at this venue again. Lastly, Leon was PHENOMENAL and the band did such a great job.

    Great show so so venue

by Nene on 9/7/22Oxbow RiverStage - Napa

This was my first show at Oxbow Riverstage and will probably be my last. The configuration of the venue was not appealing. Also if you are shorter than 5’8 you will miss the show when the crowd stands up. I’m only 5’3 😞

Leon great as always, love Oxbow venue but save some money

by Linda on 9/7/22Oxbow RiverStage - Napa

Although we love the Oxbow location, we will be buying seats out of the premium (Gold) section next time. The “padded” wooden folding chairs are very narrow and ziptied together so that you can’t move then. They are narrower than an airplane seat and narrower than the plastic folding chairs further back. People sat contorted to not lean on strangers. Half the section stood the whole concert and it’s not because they all wanted to dance.

Leon Bridges at the Oxbow River Stage

by Music Lover on 9/7/22Oxbow RiverStage - Napa

I was disappointed overall. Leon Bridges is a talented artist, there is no denying that, but he is not much of an entertainer. I like to hear the stories behind the songs, and to be engaged with the artist. His performance was just singing the songs - honestly, I might have preferred to sit on my couch at home. The Oxbow River Stage used to be fun. You could bring your own chairs and sit out on the grass. While you can still sit on the grass (no chairs allowed), they flipped the stage around - which not only changed the acoustics, but it also made the stage the same height as their poorly strapped together and overpriced plastic chairs. Not sure I'll be rushing back anytime soon.

    oxbow - Leon Bridges

by Lopez on 9/7/22Oxbow RiverStage - Napa

2nd time around Leon Bridges concert - first time was in Oakland @Fox Theaters- but time the outside venue was great with sound quality. It’s was a great show - the songs sung were the best of Leon Bridges & ones you wanted to hear. Leon and band were outstanding. The evening and crowd was easy going. Definitely would return - The music style is liked by the young and older generations - wish I would have brought my mid twenty’s and 30 ish kiddos with us- all and all delightful evening.

    Disappointing

by Krista on 9/7/22Oxbow RiverStage - Napa

I love Leon Bridges, but the show wasn't great. The sound quality was not good in the silver section, and he only played an hour and 20 minutes (plus 2 encores). I think he would be better in a smaller venue, not outdoors.

by KLC on 9/7/22Oxbow RiverStage - Napa

Leon Bridges is exactly what live music is supposed to be. He and his band Sounded great and visuals were cool but not anything overly done. Totally hit all the marks. And nice new venue for me as well.

    Little dragon stole the show

by Dragon Superfan on 9/1/22Moda Center - Portland

Little Dragon gave the best show I’ve ever seen. Thank goodness for that. I was deeply disappointed by Leon Bridges performance. He must have been having an off night or having issues with his voice. He would barely sing the songs at times, relying heavily on his backup singers or even the crowd. He seemed to have forgotten the lyrics at least twice to his very popular songs. I heard his voice crack once, even. He quickly sang the words of the songs rather than do any runs or fill the pockets with his soulful voice that we hear on the recordings. He also had a HUGE stage to work and he barely moved around. It wasn’t until the last 2-3 songs (encore included) that he finally seemed to be feeling it more. I will not be buying tix again to see Leon Bridges but I give a lot of props to his very talented band and backup singers. They all carried the show, massively. I wish LB the best and I hope this was just one of those bad days that we all have from time to time.

    Leon Bridges

by Meesh on 9/1/22Moda Center - Portland

The sound mix was off. You could barely hear Leon Bridges because the band was so loud. It was a total waste of his talent.
