If you’re a lover of Elle Woods and girl power, this is must see show. It was my first live musical and I enjoyed it from start to finish. 10/10 would recommend!
I have seen Legally Blonde the musical tons of times. The musical debuted in 2008. I even watched the tv show about the woman trying out for the role of Elle. The experience was really great! I did sit in an odd limited viewing area so some parts of the show I could not see. I will purchase better seats next time! 10/10 funny and lively. I really enjoyed experiencing it in person and hearing all the laughter and clapping from people in the audience who had not seen it before. If you are looking for a sign to purchase tickets, this is it!
Beautiful theater, but not a practical venue for this large of a crowd. There was no place for the lines to go (to get in, for concessions, for the restroom, etc. We sat on the main floor and you could barely see the cast due to how the seats are arranged. There was minimal set, the show heavily relied on an LED screen instead which I was not a fan of. There were ugly, tall towers of speakers on either side of the stage which was distracting and made it seem like the music was pre-recorded instead of live (which it could have been, because I did not see an orchestra or a pit). As a fan of this show, I was left disappointed in both the production and the venue.
The show itself was good, after they got the sound mixing fixed (halfway through the first act). However, and this has nothing to do with the show, I don't particularly like how the Detroit Fox Theatre is run. Very loud and inconsiderate theatre staff. You could hear them talking and laughing in the lobby.
Really did not care for this musical. None of the songs grabbed me. It was kind of boring. The song writers failed on this one.
Cast was so professional that they didn't miss a beat when a baby in the audience started crying. It kept going for a good minute or 2 right and they never flinched. Right at the most, and really only, dramatic part of the story. Everyone in the audience was perturbed the ushers didn't get the little darling out of there sooner. Moms, please don't bring infants to stage shows.
My daughter and I really enjoyed the show. It was so much fun to watch, the songs were catchy and the dancing lively.
This was a little "cheesy" but cute. My one granddaughter, who had seen the movie, had lots of laughs. My other granddaughter, who had not seen the movie, was pretty bored during the entire show, although she did have a couple of laughs. I would not recommend seeing this without seeing the movie first. I feel like the Elle Woods character at our show could have been younger and portrayed goofier, however, to her credit, she had a really great voice and played the role well.
This was my sons first time being at the fox theater and his first time seeing legally blonde musical. The show was wonderful and funny and kept our attention. The theater was beautiful and I will be back to see more shows..
Great musical, really enjoyed it!! All of the performers were superb.
I was so excited to see the show with my daughter. It was very low budget . Almost no props at all. There was a screen with tv display of the props. The outfits were also low budget , undergarments like bras exposed on outfit changes.
The show is high energy fun. There were a few moments the high pitched squealing from the cast was a bit ear piercing, but it was all part of the schtick. The Fox is a beautiful old theatre, but the venue was not ready for the influx of nearly exclusively female audience members, most of whom seemed to have “brunched hard” before showing up to Legally Blonde and they kept on drinking hard at the venue. At intermission, we were in line for the ladies room for an interminable amount of time and the show restarted without the house lights blinking or any cue at all that the show was about to restart, so we missed the first 15 minutes of the the second act. I think I’ll be skipping any stage show that I know is going to be all (boozy) women for a while.
Play was good but as an individual who collects play programs I was disappointed that only a digital copy exits. Also, it didnt help that someone put a wad of gum under the handle next to my seat. I spent a lot of time getting it off my fingers
I would not recommend Legally Blond--it was boring.
First, the audio was bad. Good luck if you’re near the back (like we were). Sound was muffled, not loud enough. The lack of stage production was really disappointing. The projections all seemed like they were made in Microsoft Paint circa 1998. We left at intermission.
This show was so good. It was cute, very attentive audience and there is not a bad seat at The Fox. Will see again if it comes back to Detroit !
A heartwarming and hilarious show, with outstanding performances from the cast! A pleasure to watch.
If you love the movie, you’ll love the show. Ignore the negative reviews. People apparently don’t have a sense of humor. Only disappointed the playbill was digital.
This show was a wonderful modern take on my favorite movie ever! Plenty of iconic lines we all know and love from the movie while also giving Elle a new spunk and edge to make her even more admirable. The cast was so energetic and lively, they really looked they were having so much fun up there. 10/10 show and I would love to see it again!
