Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound--a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more--the five-piece's all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together, vocalist Rachael Price, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g., unchecked technological growth, culturally imposed isolation, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Born from a mindset they refer to as "joyful rebellion," Good Together arrives as a body of work both gloriously defiant and primed to inspire unbridled dancing and ecstatic singing-along.
The follow-up to 2021's Obviously, Good Together finds Lake Street Dive working again with Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr.). With its sonic landscape encompassing everything from R&B to funk to Brazilian pop, the album opens on its title track: a left-of-center love song celebrating the thrill of defying expectation and following your heart's desire. Next, on "Dance with a Stranger," Lake Street Dive once again prove their undeniable gift for crafting feel-good songs with an illuminating message, simultaneously inducing a carefree euphoria and gently fostering empathy. The wildly cathartic "Walking Uphill" presents gripping meditation on the work of self-repair, while "Seats at the Bar" puts a sweetly playful twist on the classic love song. And on "Twenty-Five," Price shares a stark and lovely ballad steeped in tender reminiscence of a long-ago romance. All throughout Good Together, Lake Street Dive tap into the palpable camaraderie that's fueled the band since their formation, ultimately delivering their most collaborative, expansive, and powerfully exuberant work to date.

Been wanting to see Wood Bros forever- so glad they came to Raleigh and hope they return! Second time seeing LSD - they are wonderful! Red Hat staff friendly and helpful. Even the rain couldn’t ruin the night’s happy vibe!
Lake Street Dive is going to take over the world. This band has the total package. The music pours influences of soul, rock, pop and Americana over a base of indie sensibilities, all adeptly performed with jazz chops. All five members of Lake Street Dive are astonishingly talented masters of their craft. Hours and hours of practice and music theory study from their pedigree New England Conservatory education culminates in a sound and a vibe that showcases their talents exceptionally while still being true to the song. Put simply, their talent shows, without them being "show offs." This show saw the band on the rebound from a nasty sickness that caused them to cancel their Jacksonville show. Mike appeared like he may have been the one that was sick, but he put in a yeoman's effort and delivered in every way...impressive if he was still under the weather. When you consider the amount of trumpet he was playing, even more impressive. The band played mostly upbeat numbers propelled by the very tasteful and in the pocket playing of Mike Calabrese. As he took the stage for the first time, he tested an electronic pad on his kit and it appeared to be malfunctioning. After he grimaced, the band made the decision to play on. Whatever we missed with the drum-pad, we'll never know. But overcoming a technical issue is a sign of a true pro. The most pleasant surprise was when Akie performed a funky version of Shania Twain's "Still the One." His voice is beautiful. I was afraid that the noisy (sold-out) club setting would drown out Bridget's acoustic bass. I was wrong, the bass sounded perfect, her levels were high enough to truly appreciate her musicianship. I've seen a lot of amazing bassists over my lifetime, (Phil Lesh, Mike Watt)....yes...I'm ready to but Bridget in that category. The greatest musicians play complicated pieces and make it look effortless and fun. She does that. She is a bass monster...doesn't need 5 or 6 strings, she doesn't need a massive array of pedals and effects boards...no...she tears it up on a stand-up bass. She went back and forth from holding down the grove, firmly in the pocket, to playing the lead riffs. She can make your butt move in a multitude of ways going in and out of disco, jazz, funk and rock. I'm supremely impressed with her. Finally, Rachel Price is the real deal. My first listen to her voice reminded me of Rickie Lee Jones. Some of that was due to the similar blending of funk, folk and soul that the two artists share. However, that is where the comparisons end. Rachel Price demonstrated a better range, better tone and significantly more power than the aforementioned singer. She can go big and glorious...she can get quiet and intimate. She owns the stage with her smile, her wonderful engagement with the other band members and audience and a potent sex appeal that augments the delivery instead of over-shining her talent and the message of her song. They may have found a way in to our hearts with their wonderful covers (and they are wonderful), but make no mistake about it. Their songwriting skills are robust. It's the originals like "Good Kisser" and "Don't leave me alone with my thoughts" that you'll be humming days after the show. In closing, Lake Side Dive is the real and the total package. Great songs, played by great musicians (I can't overstate how good these folks are on their instruments)...all in a positive package that enchant, engage and put a smile on everyone's face. Bravo!
Lake Street Dive was fantastic! We throughly enjoyed the show and the lead singer was a dynamic entertainer. I can't wait to see them again
Lake street is an amazing underrated band. First time seeing them live and not the last. Each band member was as entertaining as Rachel. Sound could have been better but liked the intamacy of the venue.
Lake Street Dive was fantastic! The sound system was well balanced and the music better than I remembered it to be. The venue was something appreciated by people much younger than me. The staff was great. The drinks not overpriced. The crowd was very mixed in age and very friendly. We were all having a good time. No issues at all really. But... We stood in one place for four hours by the time the show was over. Haha. I'm too old for that. (70) As I said. Lake Street Dive was fantastic!
The Culture room is a small venue, which was perfect! We love Lake Street Dive, and this was an intimate experience being a small venue. It was great! I know they are touring with the Avett Brothers this summer, hope they come back to South Florida together, or maybe to Chicago together. Great experience!
The band was great, but the venue is horrible. We all call it the "Culture Closet" and refuse to go there unless the act is irresistible. It's a poorly laid out sardine can and people would surely die if there was ever a fire emergency, given the way they over-pack the place. Again, Lake Street Dive was fantastic! Don't miss seeing them!!!
Number one issue - general admission. Got there early for a good seat but couldn’t sit close due to people standing in front of stage so moved to balcony. Sound system terrible. Couldn’t understand any of the words. All sounded the same. People standing near the stage just talked like they were at a party. Nope. Never doing another Lake Street Dive general admission show.
Lake Street Dive was absolutely amazing live, they had an incredible horn section out with them and were amazingly fun to watch. The one bummer about this was that it was advertised as ending at 11, but went well through midnight. It was awesome to have a long show, but some friends that I went with had to leave before Lake Street Dive even came on, in order to make it to meet their wives for the ball drop. It was fantastic, but the time should be advertised so that people don't waste money on a ticket and not even get to see the band.
Lake Street Dive is a fantastic band! My friends & I had one of our best New Year Eves ever at the concert.
Lake Street Dive was so good live! Everyone should go see them!
Buddy and I wanted a different trip for new years and he introduced me to Lake Streer Dive, so we book a trip to Boston from North Dakota! They are just as amazing in person as in concert. The opening acts were good as well. Emily has such a great presence and voice that it fit in when she dueted during the show. It was a great New year's eve show!
I don't usually write reviews, but being an avid concert goer, this one really stood out. I love bands that take a more "right-sized" amount of visuals and stage gimmicks, because that means that music carries the show -- and LSD had the perfect balance here. The New Year celebration theme also added a great vibe to the event. The band was so tight that, while their individual talent really stood out, the whole was still greater than the sum of its parts. It also helps that Rachael can pretty much sing anything and make it sound amazing. I highly recommend Lake Street Dive to anyone who is on the fence about attending.
Would see again in a heartbeat. They sound great on albums even better live!
I was a little wary about the credit card entry, but it turned out to be a fast and painless process to get in (of course, it was a bummer if you wanted to get rid of the ticket you had). Dietrich Strause and his band were a great opener, though Emily King was a bit too low-key for a festive night. Lake Street Dive was amazing, with an extra horn section on some songs, ringing in the New Year with balloons and ending the night with dancers and confetti cannons. It was a great night, the only problem being certain individuals who imbibed a little too much, creating some boorish behavior (and long drink lines), but that was a minor annoyance. Would definitely ring in the New Year this way again!
This was the best LSD concert ever. The horns, dancers, baloons and confetti made it special. The sound was a little bass-heavy, but was still great.
Perfect set of songs, highly entertaining, amazing ending! Lake street dive is the real deal!
We drove for three hours to go to the show! Got a parking space right in front of the club... The show started with an excellent warm up band. The band, LSD, put on an amazing high energy show. Every member of the band got to showcase their talents. It was a great space to see them... great seats, and a full bar right next to where we were seated.
Lake Street Dive is a killer band but seeing them live is absolutely amazing. Do yourself a favor and go see a live show.
