About

LA Galaxy History

The LA Galaxy have been playing since Major League Soccer launched in 1996. After topping the Western Conference in the league’s inaugural season, the Galaxy led the conference twice more before they clinched their first MLS Cup in 2002 against the New England Revolution. History would repeat itself in 2005, when they emerged victorious over the Revolution for their second MLS Cup.

From 2007 to 2012, British football legend David Beckham joined the Galaxy, and in short order, pushed the club to two MLS Cup victories, in 2011 and 2012. Even after Beckham's departure, the Galaxy continued to shine. After winning the Cup over the Revolution again in 2014, the Galaxy became the first team in the league to nab the championship five times. The Galaxy furthered their league championship record with a sixth MLS Cup win in 2024. Overall, the LA Galaxy have earned four Supporters’ Shields, two U.S. Open Cup titles and the 2000 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Among the Galaxy’s alumni are three MLS MVP winners: Carlos Ruiz (2002), Landon Donovan (2009) and Robbie Keane (2014). In 2015, the award was renamed the Landon Donovan MVP Award to honor the decorated All-Star midfielder’s career. Donovan also earned the Golden Boot as the league’s leading scorer in 2008.

In 2023, the Galaxy helped set the MLS single match attendance record at 82,110 in an annual "El Tráfico" rivalry match against Los Angeles FC at the Rose Bowl on July 4.

  • Congrats Galaxy!

It was truly a once in a lifetime event. I've been a Galaxy fan since the league started in the mid 90's and I've been to many game since then but to see my team win the MLS Cup was awesome!

  • MSL Cup Final - Outstanding!!!

It was perfect. Even the rain didn't messed up things that much. Everything was great.

  • Great MLS game, Home Depot venue is horrible!

It was a very happy end to the season watching our LA Galaxy take home the cup, however, going to Home Depot center is the most frustrating fan experience I can think of. Parking is terrible, period. Hassle after hassle we finally found a space (we had temp handicap placard which means nothing to them). Food is terrible and always has been. They see surveys all the time about poor food and service and nothing changes. Very expensive as well. Camera work for big screen is bad and sound system is so bad you could hear better in parking lot than in stadium. It started as a good venue when we went to games 6-7 years ago but have gone down steadily each year. We don't go to Galaxy games any longer and regretted going to this game - would have seen more and had better food at home.

  • We are the champions !!

One of the best moments of this year by far.. I wanted to show some of my relatives who came to visit me to states how its like to see a game in home depot center and what better way to show case !!!! We not only were a part of a sell-out home depot crowd but the ambiance , the environment made it one of unforgettable moments. and to top it we won !!!!!!!!!!

  • I wouldn't miss it for the world!!!

I must admit that I was fairly uncertain if I was going to attend the event because of the rain but fortunately I decided to go through with the event because I knew it was going to be a memorable experience. Did it deliver? This event more then delivered and I consider myself very lucky to have been able to experience it.

  • weather was a bummer

by MichaelJSt on 11/22/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 3 out of 5

Great event but two main issues. Parking was very remote and in the rain. Many people carried umbrellas to stay dry and only upon arriving at gate were we informed that we could not bring them in. Bad communication. Either work on closer parking or shuttle in, and communicate with guests that umbrellas are forbidden.

These seats are pretty good. The seats let you watch the game from the keeper's point of view.

  • Seats with good angle to see Beckham's corner kick

by Woosey on 11/13/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 5 out of 5

A good game and great friendly atmopshere. Our seats were perfect to see David Beckham delivered his corner kick and Magee scored with a header to equalise.

  • go galaxy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by bottelcapbeto on 11/9/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 5 out of 5

Great game but I wish they would have paraded the conference cup around the soccer field. They showed the cup to the club seat section then left the field. Not all of us can afford those prices. We all deserve to see that great moment and possibly take a picture or two of the GALAXY parading the cup around! Maybe they will do that when they win the 2011 MLS cup. Yes i said win!!!!!!! GOOOOOOOO GALAXY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game was great. It was exciting with the back and forth goal attempts. The crowd roared with galaxy goals and moaned with the near misses. Very upbeat night. I am not that soccer savy, but I could see the great skill and heart of the players. Get your tix for the championship,Nov 20.Sunday. Galaxy vs Houston. Should be a great contest. Go Galaxy!!
